Wick'n'Wax
Not sure what happened here, I got a weird effect. Think its fingernailing?
Scented
There might be some fractures in there. Almost looks like the wax was thinking about mottling, but looks more like trapped air bubbles.
NattyCat
poured too hot and too fast? Lots of air in there.....
ladysj
That's what it looks like to me also. Are you tapping your mold and poking your relief holes?
Wick'n'Wax
yep tapping and doing relief holes. I'm repouring after a couple of hours.I need to start myself a list of these temps, I seem to be getting them all wrong I've some left over wax thats cooled in the pan today and its got darker blobs in and air holes too. NattyCat
what dye are you using? what wax? could it be solid dye chunks left in your pot? are you putting in any additives?
Wick'n'Wax
hi nati'm using block dyes, either from hobbycraft or sensoryperfection.plain paraffin, not actually got any additives yet, got some vybar on order, and will pick up some stearin..Shouldn't be any dye left in the pot, I always reheat and wipeout when I've finished. One thing I have noticed, my layers seemed to big big sweeping lines, whereas the others I've seen are perfectly straight (although at an angle) more like zig zags.I need to figure out what to perch the mould on really should I try again. Donita
I think once you use some additive you will be happier. Plain wax makes a candle but not necessarily a great one. I like stearic for rustic and mottles and vybar 103 if I am going for a smooth creamy look. You look like you got a lot of air bubbles going on and maybe poured to hot.....too fast? They sell additives for a reason (smile).....Donita Louise
