Scenting Chunks

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I was wondering if those people who make chunk candles (pillars and votives) could advise if they scent their chunks and overpour or scent only the overpour. If you scent both, do you use the same percetage FO. I currently do not scent my chunks, but was wondering if it is better to scent both? Thanks

I sent both chunks and ovepour, but i usally put more scent in the chunks than the over pour. My reason for this is, i use polcarbonate moulds which can be damaged by too much scent. Therefore i use less in the overpour but more in the chunks to help protect my moulds!!!!Doesn't make any difference if you use metal moulds though.

I scent both both also.

To help explain the concept here is the theory...

Chunks take up approx. 3/4 of the candle with only 1/4 being the over pour. If you only scent the over pour then, when you burn the candle, you are only getting 1/4 of a throw. So you would have a very weak candle.
