Pink Ribbon Jar... Not Quite Perfected

Recommended Posts

Here is the pink ribbon candle I made last night. Poured a thin layer of pink (turned out almost red) paraffin and used a sharp tipped knife to cut out the ribbon. Poured the pink soy, scented angel wings, then laid the ribbon on top and filled in. The plan was to adhere the ribbon to the inside of the jar so it would show on front but it didn't work out. I do have a plan for the next time though, so trial and error. The tag reads "Hope and faith and all good things are brought to us on Angel Wings".

I think you did a great job on it freehand. I did find a mini ribbon cookie cutter that would make it easier though. You could just cut out the tearshape drop in the middle.

Those were mine :)

I was going to post those on the other thread..but forgot..:)

They were a big hit for my relay for life fundraiser. I also have a wholesale account with an Ostomy rep at a pharmacy for them..she gives them to her patients.

Would you mind if I copy your idea? I just found out today that my sons friends mom has breast cancer. From what I understand, its not going well for her, so I would love to give her something like this. Althought I dont know her very well..she may really love it.

Monica, How did you do your pink ribbons? It looks like you cut thin strips and bent them into shape while still warm? But that doesn't explain the wick through the middle of it. I would think you could get quite a few major accounts with this candle alone. There's lots of cancer treatment centers and oncologist offices in every city in the country.

I love anything with a pink ribbon, too. In fact, I just bought several pink geranium plants I didn't really need just because they had a pink ribbon stake in them.

Absolutely!! This candle isn't for sale or anything, I made it as a gift for a friend's grandmother who is going through treatment right now.

Thanks for the tip on the cookie cutters! They're perfect, and they would definately save a ton of work!

I LOVE the pink ribbon tins, holy crap, they look amazing! Were the ribbon embeds purchased, or did you make them yourself?

I am trying another method soon, I would much prefer to attach the ribbon inside the jar so that you could see both the ribbon embed and the label when the candle is closed. Also, I had to off center the wick just slightly before the repour in order to fit the ribbon on top, the idea of a hole through the center didn't occur to me until after the wax was completely set. I have a ton of ideas, I just need to find the time to experiment!!
