SheilaW
I want to make a foot balm for myself ( I really hate dry cracked heels )I plan on using unrefined shea, Emu oil, lanolin, vitamin E, glyserin, allantoin and EO's. Instead of using beeswax for the thickening agent I was thinking about using pure soy wax. Any ideas on which would be better, soy or beeswax? jwahlton
I've never used soy wax and I use beeswax in my Toe Jam. Give it a try
Crafty1_AJ
Soy wax is softer, and beeswax is firmer. The melt point on soy wax is lower. So I'd just opt for whichever texture you prefer -- softer or firmer. Personally, I'd go for the beeswax. It will do the job of firming the balm up better with less wax, IMO. blondiee
I just made some last weekend and used 15%Candelilla Wax with 5% Soy Wax and I really liked the "firmness." I put it in a push-up tube.
daniedb
I like mine with soy wax, it leaves a really neat silky, slightly powdery afterfeel, unlike b/w. Keep in mind that you will have to use 2x the amount of soy that you would with b/w.
