Yankee Candles

Recommended Posts

While we're on the subject of Yankee, before this thread bites the dust...LOL...

I wanted to ask: I know nobody knows for sure but are Yankee's Candles Paraffin or a Mix of Waxes...

I figured you guys/gals that are into candle making could take an Accurate-guess...

As much as you look at types of waxes and stuff...LOL...

Anyone Wanna Take a Rough-Guess???

I am wondering if Yankee's candles aren't strong or don't burn right than why do so many people buy them? Is there not enough competition out their so customers don't have alot of choices or what??? I have never burned their candles but I have smelled them and they smell great...

I was wondering the same. I don't remember ever buying anything of theirs other than a few votives (I have a 'Storm Watch' floating around here somewhere), but I sniffed a few of their jars in a store the other day and they were fabulous.

Sorry, no clue about the wax. That's why I wanted someone to do a reconnaissance mission to their factory!

Most customers have no idea how a candle is suppose to burn, so they dont know its wrong. I used to be one who thought it was normal for a tunnel and didnt know I needed to let it burn for 3 plus hours.

This was me before a friend of mine started selling Par** Li** (not sure I should mention it hence the * lol) and I went to a few of her home shows as a helper to make her feel more at ease until she got a few shows under her belt. I learned a lot about how to trim (never did that before either, I know bad, because it was on the instructions) and I never knew exactly how long I was supposed to burn a candle. I was a power burner, plain and simple. I'm pretty sure I wasted a lot of candles and it's probably a wonder I never caught anything on fire. :o

Strawberry tarts are very good for smell, but I agree on the tunneling. I tend to take the bigger jars (I think 16 oz.) and burn them for around 6-9 hours, lighting late afternoon and blowing out before bed. IMO, they are SERIOUSLY underwicked. The melt pool after 6 hours is usually around 4" in a 5" candle.

I don't know why theirs do that, but thanks to this board and the wonderful help, I've seen the light in a quality candle.

Some members candles here, btw, can burn twice as long and the scent is amazing. If I was pushy, I'd beg for that kind of advice on the throw! :)
