I'm Considering Making Citronella Candles in Tin's. My Question is: Since Outside is where people are MOST Likely to Burn them; Should I Do My Test Burns Outside; on Calm Nights; So... That I can Wick According to a Calm Wind? It makes good sense to me anyway to test citronella wick sizing in the conditions that I expect people to burn them. Does anyone else Agree here?

I'm using comfort blend IGI 4627 how long to cure?

How long to Cure; Before First Test Burn? 3-Days; a Week? Please help.

I am considering becoming a budget candle maker; By *NOT using any dies to keep cost down; ALL My candles will be Simply: 1.) White Wax of my Choice 2.) Fragrance Oil 3.) Wicks (and) Tabs (and) That's IT!!! Less Cost for me; equals more profit for me; and cheaper more affordable candles for the customer! Do any of you fellow candle maker's have any Thoughts on this concept?

Advertising Tip for paraffin wax users; if you educate your customers and let them know that paraffin is simply what's left over after making gasoline for their cars; and is NOT good for much else; other then making candles Tell Customers that if we didn't make candle wax out of it; this left over otherwise useless substance; would potentially be either going into landfills or even worse the ocean. So in a Way Paraffin is JUST has Green has Soy; if NOT EVEN Greener Then Soy! Has long has they burn their candles in a draft free area and for 1 hour per./ inch of diameter. So that they consume most of the wax. Let Customers know by doing these two things they will be HELPING the Environment! This is how I compete with the Soy Candle makers at my local craft fair and it works well for me! I thought it might could help other candle makers too!

Looking for Opinions on my Very First Candle; I'm using the 16oz Calypso Jar from Glassnow.com out of Texas. Wax is Golden Brands 464 Fragrance is: 50% Candle Science Cinnamon Stick FO 50% Candle Science Cake FO at the Golden Brands 464 recommend rate of 2-ounces Per./Pound Jar is 3 and 1/4 inches in Diameter; Wick is an Eco-14 as suggested by the candle science wick guide. I'm using Aqua Colored Jars; ONLY because the Clear ones of the same thing we're sold out. But; Since I plan to use the exact same jar in clear; I don't suppose it will affect my testing too much. Go Easy on me; I am just Starting... I shall Continue to read these forums while; I wait for the 4 to 5 days of curing time before my test burn I Plan to buy the E Z Wick Setter from Candle Science Soon for better ease of centering my wicks.

I Don't know what wax you are using. I Can't answer to your question specifically; But I CAN tell you that as long has your buying your wax from a reputable supplier such as Candlewic.com (or) Candlescience.com Most container waxes do NOT require additives anymore. As waxes are formulated pretty well these days; and even on suppliers websites it WILL tell you most of the Time that Additives are NOT needed. Especially for container waxes. Right on candle science's description for the IGI 4627 wax it says Quote: "This requires no additional additives - just add color and fragrance." Container Waxes are formulated pretty well these days.

NO QUESTION is Dumb on the Craft Server! NO; Natasha2106; the Burner's MUST be Constant Temp Controlled such as the NuWave Double Burner; or the the Blue Hot Plate in the first post in this thread A Regular Electric Stove is NOT constant tempeture controlled and WILL burn your wax without a double boiler setup. The black double burner NuWave is adjustable in 5ºF increments The Blue Hot Plate at the top of the this thread is adjustable in 1ºF increments But only display's temps in Celcious for which you can easy google the conversion. The 1 Con: of the Double burner NuWave is that it's induction so pots have to be magnetic to work; So you would have to melt your wax in a stainless steel 3-qt or 4-qt sauce-pan Lastly; I did see a you-tube review of the nuwave that says it can run about 20ºF hotter than you set it.

Anybody; run their Candle Jars through the dish washer; Before they pour their candles? Just to be sure they are Clean? If I we're to do this I would of course put the Dish Washer on the Delicates / Light Setting Just for washing off the Dust. As they are NOT Dirty Dishes...LOL...

It would be helpful if post in each thread were numbered in the future. Such as: #1; #2; #3; in the top right hand corner of each post starting at #1 in every thread. Some Forums do this; and some do not. But It does make it very helpful in some instances.

Or you may find the fragrance stronger in an ad-joining room.

I think this Thread may be worthy of becoming a Sticky for new members! and if the test candle is to close to a cold air return; it may not have adequate time to fill the room; before some of the fragrance gets moved into an ad-joining room. I Feel that: "As Chandler's We Must Always Find the Balance of things; Because Everything is NOT; What it Seems!"

This is just My "2 Cents" for Testing the Scent Throw of a Fragrance Oil; to Ponder on for what it's worth. As this is the way; that I Test. I say this because I live in a 2-story home; I have been testing a candle before on the 1st Floor and not smelled anything where it was burning. But at the same time be able to smell it really well up stairs.

moonshine; I believe with GB 415; that the GB stands for Golden Brands; and is therefore NOT Eco-Soya; I believe they are different companies. So I do NOT believe that GB 415 wax will be affected. I was waiting; for another forum member to confirm this for me.

For Safety Reasons; I would stick to what ever the Suggested FO load is for the Wax that you are using. As most wax manufactures have a maximum suggested FO%

And Advertising that My candles are home-made; hand-poured; and made in small batches! And that I am NOT a Large Corporate Greed Business! I'm going to get me some large molds and eventually get into making Unity Candle Sets for Weddings; Which usually include a large diameter pillar; and a taper on each side one for the bride; and one for the groom. So I think this Temp. Controlled Double Burner Set-up may work for me. I Will Report back to you Fellow Crafters How it works out!!!
