CandleCouture
Just curious if there is a wax additive that will increase the hot throw of a candle.

CandleCouture
Good one. :yay: Now that that is out of the way. Is there an additive that I can add to my wax (already mixed with fo) that will improve throw?
topofmurrayhill
Top that wasn't very nice.Maybe if you're in a grumpy mood, but it's the right answer. Many additives allow you to add more fragrance oil to straight paraffin in addition to tailoring other properties of the wax. That's the main strategy I know of. CandleCouture
Not in a grumpy mood at all. Not sure why you would say that. I actually got a good chuckle out of your response, however, I'm wondering, once again, if there is an additive (specifically) which will aid in scent throw. Georgia
gosh, I was going to say "the right wick". :tiptoe: seriously, as Top said, no one additive but finding the right combo of wax, FO, additives & wick is what we are all after.
Candle Man
These are things that help hot throw, according to your application, a lot of these can be used in one candle...In plain paraffin vybar will increase the amount of FO the wax will hold, thus the more FO, 1-1.5oz per LB of wax, the better the throw. Which leads to the next suggestionUse quality FOIf you use soy wax, hot throw increases with curingThe right wick, a 1/2" melt pool depth, makes for a better hot throwLarger openings of jars give off better throwThese all need to be considered for a good hot throw. aimeec324
too much vybar will kill the throw - it took me a while to find the right amount to add without killing my scent!!Quality fo is a must as well like previously mentioned.
