LaurieF
Anybody know a body butter base that compares to the body butter sold in Hallmark (and other) stores. I don't know the brand name but I think its in stores everywhere.
Linnyeg
I'm not sure of the one you're talking about, but it's probably an emulsified body butter.
LaurieF
Body butter is all new to me...what's emulsified?
Linnyeg
emulsified means it has water and emulsifiers in it (emulsifiers are what allow oil to bind with water) most of us on here when we refer to body butters it's JUST oils and butters. An emulsified body butter is more like a lotion.
LaurieF
Thanks alot. Are you familiar with Green Leaf's body butter? I just want something that I can add fo to and heard of Green Leaf
Gene
Do you have any of the Hallmark butter? If so, post the ingredient list and we'll help figure it out:D
Suzanne
I use Green Leaf's whipped soy body butter and love it. The only thing I add is FO. It's the best whipped soy body butter that I've found. Has a very luxurious feel to. Very upscale.
sudsnwicks
I believe the one from Hallmark is emulsified. It resembles a thick cream. I haven't tried it, just noticed it while browsing.

I haven't tried it, just noticed it while browsing. It can be regional what they carry... our hallmarks have some local stuff in them.. I have seen The Body Shop and Backyard products in there.. theirs are just emulsified... just very thick lotions and creams..
LaurieF
I'm running to Hallmark today to get some and check ingredients to see if emulsified. I really like the thickness of it. You say Green Leafs is not emulsified? Are there any (preferably a soy formula) butters that are emulsified that I only have to add fo? Thanks for all the help. Scent Cellar
Get the brand name of it also. I am wondering if it's a Camille Beckman product.
LaurieF
Its called Time & Again Shea Butter. But as my day would have it I got up to the register and NO WALLET. What the heck. Scent Cellar
A light just off in my head ... I have some of that in my bathroom closet. Yes, it is very nice .... love the mango butter and that is what inspired me to make my own emulsified body whips.
LaurieF
That's the one! I'd like to find something with that texture and thickness. Is it possible? How hard is it to make your own? I don't want to get into testing my life away.

Crafty1_AJ
Oh yeah, I was browsing a Hallmark in the Phoenix area recently, and I saw some body butter. It seems like the brand name on the label was a woman's name? It smelled kinda old and rancid to me, but coulda been I was having an off day with my schnoz. LOL Or it might have just been on the shelves a bit too long. Scratching my head trying to remember that name ...
Crafty1_AJ
Was it Camille Beckman? ETA: Oh, sorry. Spaced out there! Failure to adequately caffeinate ...
Scent Cellar
No, she said it is Time&Again ... I have some too and it is really great emulsified shea butter.
LaurieF
What's the difference in making emulsified butters? What does emulsified mean? Can I buy a emulsified base?
KristinesShower
The diff between the emulsified and the non emulsified is the greasiness factor. The non is the greasier of the two - but usually the richer cream/balm.
Bunny
Emulsified butters are made with water, butters, oils, and an emulsifier. The emulsifier binds the water and oils together to make a cream. Not emulsified - just that. Straight butters and oils.
OutlandishLady
Greenleaf's soy whipped body butter is emulsified - I checked the ingredients on mine. Great product:)
Crafty1_AJ
OK, sorry for my doofus response. In my defense (lame as it is!), I am new to the board and STILL haven't figured out how to change pages of posts every time! ROFL
