Awesome, I've been reading this thread. I'm going to keep you in mind @Hopie once I start selling online and have questions. That's very nice of you to offer help and share your valuable experience.

One of my work colleagues at the casino I was working at when I first started selling online was mocking me behind my back about how I wanted to eventually quit my job and work online full time.....until I DID IT! I'd love to have seen her face when I was able to put my two week notice in?

That's for sure. Good for you girl!

...I just kept my eye out on craigslist then one day there was an add...I was super lucky finding the melters Hopie.  Lucky too to have a hubby that would drive for two days to pick them up with me...and he didn't ask any questions when I told him the price . ...for now I have not even tried them out yet!

The other business is a Vintage wedding rental company...so I have more china teacups etc. than I will ever need!! I was hoping to sell those on etsy...not looking to sell candles on etsy...I have enough local markets to keep me busy if I want....the rest of the rentals I think I can sell through craigslist...one bite ate a time :D

You could make candles in the china teacups and sell those. Two birds with one stone. LOL

That's what I thought Laura....made tones of cute ones for a summer market 2 years ago. Had a beautiful display and lots of admirers ...advertised them at a fantastic price of 10.00 (cups were worth more than that)...just wanted them gone hahahah...guess how many I sold...?.....ZERO hahahaha....Sold tons of other candles and things but not one teacup. So now when anyone comes to visit I generously give them a teacup candle ....little do they know it's a secret plot to unload the darn things!!

After letting my soy candles cure for a month, I took them to the local market to sale. They are 8oz jars, and due to not having pretty labels, I was more worried about making my money back instead of a profit. I priced them out at $6, I went 2 days so far, and my results were not good. I also took a pound of individual melts for $1 each. I sold 1 candle, and 5 tarts in 2 days, I figured with Mothers Day, around the corner, and only one person in my area that sells candles I would sale at least 4-5.  I have 5-6 different scents, like fruit loops, butt naked, blueberry, monkey farts, and love spell. Very few people even looked at them, but the ones that did told me how awesome they smelled, but thought they were to high. Not sure were to take them now, but I don't think I will be able to sale them at that market, I guess I could try online, but their not really pretty enough for that I think. Any suggestions.

Every market is different, blah, blah, blah....    I don't know anything about melts, but the $6.00 on the 8oz jars sounds reasonable to me. On the subject of your labels, who told you they weren't pretty?  Probably the same person that keeps telling me that my labels aren't what I want them to be. ;)
