QTsmum
Just curious what is the average distance you travel to a decent show? Or do you only do local?
Michdj
My farthest show this year is 2 hours away. I've seen people drive cross-country but that's not me - at least not now. My first one next weekend is 1.5 hours, and is my second-farthest. HTH
PAgirl89
I try to stay as local as I can. 45 minutes to an hour is the farthest I will go for a show.
crazzie
My normal is about 2 hours.Last year I sighned up for a show and in my head I thought I knew where the place was, and here it was four hours away! Not much profit!
Candybee
The majority of shows for me are local because I live in a Valley. I have done shows as far as 4+ hrs away but the sales were the same or less. There are other factors in doing far away shows so unless I know that it is a big money maker for me I tend to stay local. So I'd say most of them are anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hrs driving time. But 2 hrs driving time is 4 hrs round trip. Thats a lot of gas if its a 2-3 day show.I have done out of state shows and stayed at a motel and it was a loss for me. So again, unless I know with a lot of certainty that its going to make me some money traveling to far away is just too expensive. This would all be moot if the economy picked up. I used to make 3-4 times what I make now.
Moneypenny
I really do not like to do over 1 hour away but the furthest I have done is 2 hours away! It was one where we had to get up at 2:00 in the morning to be there in time to set up! It was 2 weekends in a row and I always did well but it was just so exhausting! Soooo I will just do 1 hour max from now on! May hat is off to those that travel far though!
crazzie
I really like to do free (no fee) shows! Those are the BEST!
craftsbychris
My furthest has been an hour and 1/2. They are good shows, so it's worth it.
pcbrook
I like to keep the shows about an hour away. I am doing one in a couple weeks that is about 1-1/2 hours away though. It is the first time doing it so I will see if it is worth it.
QTsmum
Ok, I'm glad I'm 'normal'! I try to just do local (though it's quite limited). Just got accepted to a HUGE show 1.5 hours away. I want to barf! LOL! The last show I did was just tiny, tiny in a little gym! This is 180 vendors!
SherriLynn
Depends on what time of year it is.... winter time I stay within a 2 hour radius. Summer/Fall - have 2 LARGE shows, we travel over 250 miles but revenue is a nice chunk. We drive out the night before, hotel over night, so we're there, fresh and ready to go for set up.
