  1. Just had this conversation with a neighbour today actually! Funny! I brought her some testers (we just moved to the area and DH found out last night she is addicted to melts! ) and she mentioned BH&G ones at WM! She said they smell pretty good but also said they didn't last long! The one I burned yesterday went to 14 hours and still had scent this morning (though I dumped it because i'm eager to see if my others will go past the 12 hour mark! LOL!) I can't wait to hear her opinion and comparison!
  2. Oh boo! Ok I'll stay away then!!
  3. Do you mean the combo warmer? I definitely have a low melt point for my wax.
  4. Got a $10 off code for online labels. Just need a few, order is $16 after discount... Check out the shipping rates. Keep in mind the top UPS one will arrive with $23 'brokerage' fee! It makes me want to cry.
  5. Those are what I was looking at. I am trying to add some jarred wickless candles too, so they would be perfect. Maybe I'll just order a min and try them out. I will test another melt in that black warmer. I suppose it's possible I got a dud or the bulb is wacky or something. But 2 vs 14 hours is HUGE! A Dud vs a winner! Friggin candle making. LMAO!
  6. I tried to do some searching but it's all sort of older stuff. I can get a better deal (by quite a bit) to buy from one of those 2 US retailers than from within Canada. The Canadian retailer, I'm spending almost 40 cents per clamshell, whereas I can get 29 cents and 27 cents after shipping respectively, from the US. Is either clamshell better? The ones I've got are nice, hold about 3 oz of wax filled to the tippity top. Thanks!
  7. Okay, I was going to place an order this month and considered these. I'll definitely stay away from the combos now!!!
  8. The one I'm using is this one: http://www.candlewarmers.com/ProductDetail.aspx?prod=315 I'm so nervous now about stocking them. Maybe I should just stick with the smaller round dish ones? It's a bulb warmer. I don't understand how I could get such different results in a single day. Those melts sat for not even a week. Does that make a difference with Paraffin? I always thought it was just a couple days. ETA: I just went and sniffed and the melt is still good! I'm soooo excited. This is the longest I've personally gotten a melt to last! I really think it's the warmer now! This is just over 14 hours! Frig! I truly wonder how many melts I'd kiboshed due to that warmer now! It's the only one I've had that is an illumination, not wall plug in!
  9. Ok, so this exact same blueberry melt has been going for just over 12 hours now. It is light, but still blueberry and not the burnt wax smell! Has anyone had issues like this with warmers before? That's not a little difference and DH was the one who declared yesterday's dead, not me! He wasn't even in the house when I poured!
  10. I think my melter is killing my scents! I made a ton of melts this weekend. I took extra care to ensure the temp was hot enough going from presto pot to my mixing pot without dropping too much, stirred a ton, did everything I could. I've been testing some melts and got a really poor result from my blueberry one. It literally burnt out after 2 hours. I was so sad. Then I tested another scent and it burnt out after 4 hours. I've had testers tell me that some scents lasted days (I've honestly never gotten THAT in my home!!)... So I went and bought a warmer from Michaels. I put the blueberry in and it burnt for 2 hours before we went to bed. I turned it back on this morning and it's already been on for an hour and smells as good as it did when I first lit 'er up yesterday! My warmer is a big square one from candlewarmers. I read someone else's post on here regarding the same warmers burning through their melts quickly. I typically sell them along side my stuff at the few fairs I've done and now I'm questioning whether I should even be doing that!! I don't have a non-square one from them to test in at the moment. I wonder how many melts I've axed for short length that were actually ok??! I also burned a Scent*y melt the other day (I've had them since before my melt making days) and it was waxy smelling within like 4 hours too!!
  11. Is not really grapefruity to me. I can smell a bit of citrus, but it's just got a sexy tone to it. Sort of reminds me if dark kiss or blue sugar. Not the same by any means by there's just something that makes it feel sexy for me, lol! If you walked into a room, you wouldn't think 'fruit' but you would be asking "what is that smell?" !!!
  12. Yeah, NVM, a couple hours later it totally fizzled.
  13. Followup question.... When you test, do you sniff the house or do you sniff the wax? I'm driving myself mental. I'm wondering if it's my nose. I do have testers trying some but *just* handed the melts out, so it'll be a little bit. If I sniff the burner, I can start to smell the paraffin, but if I just walk into the house, I smell the scent (Leaves) and it's not 'waxy' yet.
  14. Thanks for the replies! You are right, might as well find good FOs that work with lesser amounts! More change in my pocket in the long run!
  15. So when you use a wax like 4627 which has a 12% max fragrance load and mix it 50/50 with say, 4625 which has a max of 6 %, can you go with about a 9% load or do you stick with the lower end? Ir can you go even higher?
  16. Ah, NVM. They said it's an error on the site and it's like vaseline.
  17. To bump an old thread and hijack a bit (sorry ladies) but did anyone end up trying that granulated 4627? I'm Canadian and willing to grab a 5 lb'er and give 'er a go! I can't imagine it being true, LOL! How in the world could we have something that the US does not?! I don't' believe it!
  18. I read the reviews and bought some Satsuma (only 2 oz) based on them, not knowing what to expect. I didn't love it OOTB but poured it this weekend. Oh my gooooodness! It's fruit...Sexy...DELICIOUS! I love it. I will for sure be adding it to my permanent rotation! It was just seeping out the windows of my house into the back deck! YUM!
  19. So I'm in the process of testing some tarts for a Nov show! I've got tons of time, it feels so good! LOL! I spent the entire weekend pouring after a long haitus (move-the movers lost and then found all my stuff a few months later!) Annnnyhow, do you melt for a few hours, then turn off? Do you let it burn until the scent is gone? Do both? Does it make a difference? Do you do 1 cube or 2 at a time? I've been doing 1, but after some reading, see a lot of people do an oz at a time and that would be 2... With my vanilla lavender, I got a good 6 hours out of 1 cube, but am a bit bummed. I can get days and days out of one cube in a plug in though. I'm assuming I'd get longer out of 2 cubes, but didn't want to be phishing for better results, kwim?!
  20. Great, thanks! Maybe I'll give it a go! I'm a little nervous! LOL!
  21. Just wondering, does anyone have Angel's soap supplies email? I am wondering if I can get her to ship to me in Canada, but I can't contact her through ebay. ;(
  22. Is candle source's campfire really smokey? I have campfire from bitter creek. I have some toasted marshmallow too...I was going to use it to make 'smores' but I wonder if I should give it a try!?!
  23. Since you have one of the tarts. what about making your own mold from the silicone stuff (I can't remember the name)?
