  1. Imc....I've been pouring 130-131. Tops have been smooth.
  2. I'm still in testing mode. I agree CT is great. Playing around with the "heat to" temp. The 1st few tarts I've tested had great CT but the HT was not great. A few scents had good HT but I'm having trouble with most of the bakery scents having HT...they are my biggest seller so I really need to get that worked out and a couple I couldn't get to blend in the wax. I was heating to 170, adding FO at 165. Today I poured a couple at 185 adding FO & color. So we'll see next week if the HT improves. Imc.....what temp are you heating the wax? I've got the pour to temp down for smooth tops so that's progress. Now to get the HT.
  3. Imc...yes you do have to work fast..thought it was just me. Can't seem to get that last tart poured without reheating. Jeanie353...fun huh....can't believe I'm going thru this again...arrrgh. My fingers are crossed that this wax is the bomb...I have really good feelings about it.
  4. Imc....I just got my TCS tart wax yesterday too!! Made several testers yesterday and several just a little while ago playing with the temps for smoother tops. I agree, the ones I made yesterday have amazing CT...can't wait to test for HT as well. I didn't use any additives either & colors great and came out of the portion cups like a dream. Let me know how your testing goes....I'm so excited for this to be the one!!!
  5. Jeanie..I think I read that the CBL125 is very similar to the J223 so if that is so, it should be okay. Not sure what it is about the 4630 and portion cups..maybe something I'm doing..not sure but I've moved on to the J223 which I can get at Candlescience.
  6. Jeanie...yep..they came out of the metal tart molds. I don't use clamshells. For some reason that mix does not like the portion cups. I poured at 145 so I know they didn't warp. You can barely budge them..I have to use all my strength to get them out. I've changed to testing 4625 (75%) with 25% J223 and they pop out easy. I tried that same percentage with the 4630 & nope...no luck.
  7. Will do....I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I don't want you to have to go thru what I'm going thru....thought my tart wax testing days were over. I've been using the KY tart wax for over 5 years...this last year I'm not as happy with it as I thought I was.
  8. We just recently got a Whole Foods here in our city...I'll definitely have to look and see if they are carrying them. Congrats!
  9. Ravens...well that's good news! Let me know after you test the tarts...hope it's the same as the older version. One question though, did you use it straight or add any other wax to it? I'm trying to replace my current para-soy tart wax (KY's..now AH/RE). I'm wanting to go paraffin instead of para-soy.
  10. Thanks...not sure I'll take the plunge. They don't have their old wax anymore do they? I looked on the site and didn't see it. Never got around to trying it either...just tried their FO's for the first time this week. Testing some now.
  11. Thanks Jeanie...I saw a couple of posts where people where not happy. That's too bad. I hate being excited over something new only to have it be a bust.
  12. Does anyone use this and if so how do you like it? TIA. I did a search but couldn't find anything regarding the Tart Wax...in pellet form.
  13. CandleMakinCutiePie...yes, sometimes sticking to a known winner is best...I'm not liking the 75% 4625 & 25% 6006...scent throw is just not there. So far the 50/50 blend seems to be the winner. For many years I've been using the KY tart wax mixed with 20% 444. I liked it but was hoping to switch to mostly paraffin and hoping for stronger tarts. Not sure yet what I'll do...decisions...decisions.
  14. Thank you Joslen...I'm currently testing the 4625 (75%) with the container wax 6006 (25%) to see how I like the throw & how long it lasts. I agree with you, adding the container wax does let me increase the fo load and makes for a nice looking tart.
  15. Well you were right about one thing...it was the 4630 container wax that was the problem. I did another test with the little bit of 6006 container wax I had here mixed 50/50 with the 4625 and they popped out of the portion cups perfectly. Thank you.
  16. What paraffin container wax would you recommend to mix with the 4625?
  17. I have been testing a blend of 4625 and 4630 for tarts in portion cups. One blend was 50/50 & the last one I did today was 60/40 (60% being 4625). They will not pop out of the portion cups easily. I am pouring at 145. I heat to 190, add fo at 180 if that helps any. You would think with the majority of the mix is the 4625 they would pop out easily. If you use this mix or the 4625 mixed with another paraffin container wax..have you had this problem? My next test will be 75/25 but I'm trying to keep the melt point down as low as I can. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
  18. I may get a 1 oz. sample to try when I need to re-order. Don't think I'll get a whole pound of it though. Does sound good...hope it is.
  19. www.candlemaking.com is the link for Aztec. They have an Oreo fo that's skin safe...have not used it so I can't say how it is.
  20. I only do tarts so this was why I was excited to see your review.
  21. Thanks for the review...I've been looking for a good one. I've tried a couple other vendors with this fo (can't remember who right now) but was never impressed...I do remember thinking they were too light. Will have to add that to my list. I've never ordered from them but do have a list going and hoping to do that in the next couple of weeks.
  22. Chuck...pardon my ignorance but what is Stasis?
  23. Thanks Ksranch....that's what I thought too. I'd go broke on fo's using anymore than that.
  24. Thanks blacktie....I don't like working in such small amounts myself...so much harder to calculate. I appreciate your honesty. Next batch of testers I'll try adding at 170 just to see how it does....can't hurt.
  25. Oh thank you sooo much ksranch!!! I'm really enjoying the paraffin route over the para-soy...well at least so far. Someone (not on here) said I don't add enough fo though. .6 oz sounded enough to me in 5 oz of wax...any thoughts on that.
