  1. I know Millcreek tests everything in soy but I use paraffin....are they just as good in paraffin wax? This is what I'm thinking of getting....anyone try any of these in paraffin & if so, what is your opinion. Any other suggestions to add to my list would be appreciated. Cotton Candy Cozy Home Dutch Apple Pie Grandma's Kitchen Home & Hearth Mulled Cider Candy Corn Harvest Spice Berry Creme Brulee Key Lime Pie Thanks
  2. number2of7....never tried any oils from Candlewic...any suggestions for some super strong ones? I only do tarts and wax is paraffin. Thanks for any suggestions.
  3. I use to buy from NG a lot but I agree, seems in at least the last year they have gone down hill. I still use a couple but not like I use to. On a re-order of some oils I got a couple of samples I had hoped would be winners...sadly they were very weak.
  4. ChandlerWicks..completely understand what "weak & thin" means. I was quite disappointed in the ones I got too in my wax blend. Glad I only ordered 10 samples. At least I'm glad I tried them..would have always wondered.
  5. Out of the 10 samples I got only 1 really did good...Pink Sands. The others were mostly light OOB and in wax....Was hoping Circus Concessions would be great but it was just so-so..maybe would classify it as medium. Not what I was hoping for. Tested all my scents in paraffin tarts. Creme Brulee started off kinda nice but had a bit of a banana scent to it. Was maybe only medium at best. Caramel Apple, very light OOB & in wax, Sugar Cookie, medium OOB & light in wax, B-Day Cake..very light OOB. Didn't bother to put it into wax, Candy Corn..very light OOB & in wax. Smelled nothing like candy corn. Maple Sugar, maybe medium OOB but light in wax. Prefer AH/RE's Vt. Maple Sugar. Can't remember what else I got. Overall, I was not impressed with what I received. Could have just been what I ordered. Would like to get more of the Pink Sands but won't order just for one scent.
  6. Anyone put these into wax yet? Interested to hear your reviews.
  7. Just did a small 5 ounce batch with CS's Pumpkin Souffle. Heated to 190*, left pour pot on dbl boiler and added FO, stirred for approx 1 minute keeping temp at 190* then let cool down to pour into portion cups. Hopefully HT will last longer than 2-3 hrs. I've not been having trouble with the FO incorporating but rather longevity so hoping this method will help that.
  8. Jeanie..thank you..I'll try that and see if it makes a difference. I've only been doing small test batches via the dbl boiler method so I'll add my fo while still on the heat, stir until fully incorporated and then remove to cool down for portion cups. Here's hoping this solves the problem.
  9. Jeanie353..I add fo off heat and stir for approx 1 1/2 - 2 minutes and then let it cool down to pour temp for portion cups. Are you keeping your pour pot on the heat while you stir your FO?
  10. I have been testing a 4625/4630 blend for tarts and am having a heck of a time getting bakery oils to last much longer than 3 hours. I've tried FO's from most all of the major suppliers so I know it's not inferior oils. I heat my wax to 190*, add dye. Ive tried adding fo at 185*, 180* and 190* with no success. The CT is fantastic..no problem there..it's just the HT fades so quickly. I have tested this wax blend with fruity scents, herbal & clean scents with no problem getting them to last 6+ hours. Just stumped as to why I'm having so much trouble getting the same success with bakery FO's. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on or had this happen to them? Thanks
  11. I only do portion cups now but would like to offer clamshells. I mostly do pour to order but if the customer keeps them for very long I would be afraid they would end up with that yucky smell.
  12. Make that 3 people wanting to know. That's one reason I quit doing clamshells.
  13. Yes, the 70% being paraffin. Good luck..let us know how it goes.
  14. It will require a longer cure because of the add'l soy. Never really know but it is reported the KY wax is a 70/30 blend so adding the add'l soy would make it approx. 50/50. I always look for oils that are good throwers in soy. Try a test batch or two and see how you like it. Also try test batches without the soy to compare.
  15. You either have to pour really cool or add 20% soy to your mix for smooth tops. I've found people don't really care how they look as long as they smell and perform well. But, I'm like you, I wanted smooth tops so I added the add'l soy.
  16. Of course you just HAD too!! It would have been rude of you not to...lol. So, who was the lucky supplier? Looking for a new one myself...want some new oils.
  17. Connie...was the Spice Market in candles or tarts? I got a sample of it. Just have not had time to put it into wax yet. I only do tarts.
  18. I find it a bit more than rude to jack up the prices like that without any advanced notice to at least her existing customers...yes, I am one of them. I was actually on her website when all of a sudden before my eyes the prices changed!!! Imagine my surprise...LOL It's a pity because several of her oils are some of my best sellers...I will be unhappy to discontinue them unless I can somehow blend them myself. Since I pretty much stink at blending...which why for me it was better to buy them already mixed. Those prices are just too steep for me.
  19. What temps are you doing now and what is your pour temp? Are you mixing it with any other wax, soy or paraffin? I would up your fo load. I use 10% on most and will even push it to 11% on a weaker fo.
  20. Haven't tried them either.....is there a code for the Free Shipping? I'd like to try some of them too.
  21. Never been impressed with any FO from The Chemistry Store. I use the one from Southern Gardens. I don't know if it's a BBW dupe but it's really good.
  22. Always wanted to try Spice Market in my tarts. Keep forgetting to add that as my free sample.
  23. If you are looking for soy...Aztec has 5# samples you can buy. Not sure what the minimum is but you might want to check it out.
  24. Here's a couple of ideas: Pink Sugar Lavender Toasted Marshmallow Strawberry Mixed Berries Sugar Cookie Pancake (if you can find a good one..I'm still looking for that one myself) Fresh Cut Grass Oatmeal Cookies Cinnamon (a candy type one) Apricot Banana Okay...I guess I'm finished...lol
  25. Imc...what % of FO are you adding? On this last batch..did you still heat to and add FO at 185? Glad your tops are smoother... Lorelei...it's paraffin. I'm still testing so I can't rave one way or the other yet.
