  1. Thank you for all of the replies! Definitely some good advice! I keep trying to upload an image of the container but keeps giving me an error. It is the 8 ounce Tina glass from Genwax. The reason why I had coconut oil is it completely eliminates wet spots in my candles. I know their normal but I'm a perfectionist LOL. http://www.candlemakingsupplies.net/glass--gift-boxes--jars--lids/glass-containers---jars/cate_104/p___P0941935.html i have never used USA. what are the benefits? I let the candles cure for a minimum of 2 to 3 days before I test burn them.
  2. I have recently tried switching from Stasis 70/30 blended was to C3. I am using 1 ounce FO per pound and having half a teaspoon of coconut oil per pound. The container I'm using is 2 1/2 inches across and using and HTP 83 wick. This wick should be big enough for that size container but I am experiencing tunneling in some candles and the rest not burning all the way to the edge. I am heating the wax to 185° adding fragrance at 165° and pouring at 150° I heat my containers to 105° Any suggestions? I am at my wits end!
  3. Hi Belinda! I have not tried any vanilla beans as of yet. I am coming to the conclusion that that is what I'm looking for since most of the vanillas that I try end up smelling like cupcakes LOL. I tried the vanilla from Candlewic and it just doesn't have a very strong hot throw. I am definitely looking for a straight vanilla bean. I have not tried the one from NG yet. I will have to give it a try. ?
  4. Hey Guys! I am trying to find a nice clean strong and vanilla bean Scent set has a good scent throw. I use C3 so I wax. I have tried a couple that seem OK but they smell more like cake. I'm looking for something to smells like true vanilla bean and has a strong scent throw. Who has the best vanilla bean fragrance?
  5. I will have to check them out. I have tried bitter feel a long time a go as well as Candlemaker Store. I just wish the latter had scent descriptions. As I type I am test burning SOS California Rain. I love it! It have nice musky scent to it and it's strong!
  6. It's been a while since I have posted, but here goes. I am trying to revamp my line and looking for strong scents. I use 70/30 Parasoy container wax. I have actually had good luck with the stronger grades with SOS. Who else sells their oils in different grades? I am looking for scents like Sandalwood, Ylang Yland, Nag Champa, Patchouli, Neroli, etc. Any thoughts? Also I really love the Champa Meditation and Brgamot and Tobacco from SOS. Does anyone else have favorites in scents along those lines?
  7. I think ill scoop the wax out first!
  8. Thank you for all of the suggestions. I think it may be a wicking issue as well. I have not tried it on a warmer I am going to throw one on a warmer a see what I get! You know I just recently got turned on to AH and I love their oils just got their Neroli and Lavender today and they smell awesome OOB! It seems like most of the ones I like are Patchouli blends.
  9. Thank you for the replies. I have never tried NG for FO. I'm going to have to check them out I know a friend of mine orders B & B stuff there and is pleased. Maybe I have just gonna spoiled by Nag Champa incense! I wanna walk in the room and really smell it. I wish someone would have picked up Tradewinds Katmandu fragrance. I love it!
  10. I am looking for a STRONG thrower, but aren't we all lol. I use Clarus Parasoy @ 1.5 oz FO per lb. I have tried Genwax and Peak and get great cold throw and no hot throw. Peaks surprises me because I usually get great hot throw with their oils and the reviews are great. I tried AH flower child love the cold throw but very faint hot throw. Anybody have a suggestion on who has a great hot thrower? TIA
  11. I saw the Feng Shui scents at Wellington Scented. They are definitely on my list!
  12. Ravens you are gonna make me spend more money lol. I have never ordered from Elements. I will definitively check them out. I have ordered from Moonworks and really like their oils. I have never used them in wax tho. I tried their oils in insence and really liked them. Candybee that is really good to know. I am still on the fence about C3. I would LOVE to use a nonparafin wax but when I started making candles I had a really bad experience with soy flakes so I got discouraged. I just couldn't get a decent looking product. That is why I REALLY liked the 70/30 blend that Greenleaf used to carry.
  13. Thank you Candybee. That is good to know! I think I had read on hear years back that it was due to health issues that is sad. It goes to show you that you need to live life to its fullest because you don't know what the future holds. Well, my first order of all of the great suggestions was with AH and I went nuts!! I got Oud Wood, Bonfire Bliss, Cedarwood & Patchouli, Patchouli and Oud Wood, Redwood, Rosewood & Musk, Bamboo Sugar Cane, Honeysuckle & White Patchouli, Purple Sandalwood, Oakmoss & Sage, Dragon's Blood, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Flower Child, Patchouli Raspberry, Patchouli Rain, Sandy Rose, and Toasted Marshmallow. I can't wait!
  14. Thank you for all of your replies! So many exciting suggestions! I love the fact that Tradewinds Hawaiian Sandalwood is not lost forever!! I started making candles when they disappeared and when I saw them comeback I was looking forward to their Hawaiian Sandalwood, Raspberry Patchouli, and their Mele Kamikimaka was interesting too. When I saw them stop selling FOs I was bummed. I am really excited to get back into candle making but this time I am going to carry scent that I LOVE! Like I stated in my original post I use Stasis 70/30 blend wax. For those who don't use it, I used to get it from Tennessee Candles but then they stopped carrying it. By freak chance I found their supplier and was able to order by the case. I switched to Tennessee candles after Greenleaf went away and was told the wax was he same. The thing is I don't seem to get the same throw that I used to get. I live near Genwax and one of the girls there recommended that I try the C3 wax. Has anyone tried it and if so how is the throw? Sorry for the book lol
  15. I know I should be in Holiday scent mode, but I'm pumpkin and cranberried out. Lol. I started making candles 6 years ago because I have always been drawn to more earthy fragrances and there aren't many candles out there with those types of scents. I used to love to walk down Hollywood blvd and stumble across on occult shop and find some awesome scented candles. They had such strong scent throws! So here I am 6 years later looking at my line and wonder where I went astray. So my question is for those of you who have "those" types of scents in their line. Who has the best scents? I also love the fend shui scents as well. I see that SOS has a lot but have never tried their scents in wax. I tried them in incense with limited success oob they smell awesome. I use stasis 70/30 blend which is the same blend that Greenleaf used to use. I get an ok throw with that wax with my existing scents but I get a bit of a "crayons" scent lately. Maybe it's the batch. But I digress and scent or supplier suggestions?
  16. I still haven't gotten a response from Stacy, but based on her Facebook comments regarding today's Supreme Court decision maybe it's for the better. That sucks. I really liked her fragrances. I bet she is ok with Paula Deens little ignorant comments as well. It's really sad that we still have so much ignorance in the world in 2013.
  17. I use Parasoy and have a list of Favs from Sweetcakes: Blueberry Verbena, Summertime Peach, Chocolate Amber, Tide, and Pink Jasmine.
  18. I would be in heaven!! Yeah it's pretty slim pickings here. It's so much easier when you can go and sniff before you buy. I grew up in Minnesota and moved away before I had started making candles. Had I known about Sweetcakes, let me tell ya!
  19. When I started buying oils from them they carried about 20 oils. They hired a new manager on the store side and he decided to expand that to like 75. That was cool but they have one by one stopped carrying EVERY one of the oils I used to get there. I used to buy my wax and my containers from them as well and surprise they stopped carrying them as well. I know the staff there well and they have all pretty much told me the same thing, and that is that they are much more focused on their wholesale accounts than they are with their retail store. For a time there was even told about closing the store completely. You would think that with an area the size of LA that we would have more than one supplier.
  20. Hey Belinda! She added me as a friend on her Facebook account. Let me try to message her there and see if I get a response. If I don't hear anything, I may take you up on that Thank you!
  21. I wish I had the same Dilema lol! I live in Los Angeles and the only supplier close is Genwax and I am definitely not a fan of their oils. I really love Daystars oil, I just wish she would respond to emails. I think I have sent her emails regarding 3 different scents over the past 2 years and I am still waiting for a response to any of my questions.
  22. Looks like she discontinued the dupe she has for Love Hangover
  23. I have never ordered from NG. I will definitely try it. Any other suggestions? I just looked at their site. The Mayan Musk looks interesting.
  24. So of all of the scents I tried from SOS, the ones that I really liked in incense were JPG and Dolce and Gabbana. I couldn't get much of a throw with Nag Champa, Krishna, Meditation Champa, or Karma
