  1. I dont know that you can " get rid of the smell " even by putting them in plastic bins and such. Right now, because of space contraints, all of my FOs are in sealed bins and all I have to do is walk by the door and I smell them! Unfortunately, we work in a rather "smelly" line of work, and it can get overbearing for us. I have scents that I have to hold my nose to fix 1 lb and then I run out of the shop for a few hours lol ( Wildberry Zinger Tea ! ) CraftCandles had an excellent idea, IF you can afford it ( on renting a small apartment / mobile home, etc ). Since your parents know how much trouble you are having by having to move around repeatedly , even from their house , maybe they can find a way to help you pay for a space. Are you living in a dorm? If so, unless you have a scholarship that pays for it, it MIGHT be cheaper to rent a place off campus to live AND work in. Just throwing out suggestions since I dont know all the ins and outs of your situation. As you will find out by reading the boards, I dont make candles, so a lot of people might say I dont have any business offering up this next piece of advice, but I hope you and they understand : You sound extremelyyyyyyyyy busy , what with school, moving stuff here and there repeatedly, and trying to fill orders .. Even if you hadn't been making candles for only one year , I'd still say this : Please, be careful of your quality and safety with the candles. They seem to be rather finicky anyway, but with everything you have going on, I dont want you to get in a rush to do something, and the quality or the safety suffer. Please take that in the vein it was intended. We all make goofs when we are in a hurry, and some people worked years on their candles before selling the first one. Be safe, I hope you get a resolution to your "shop" problems soon and STUDY HARD !!!! The candles will be there when you graduate
  2. Ok Im just not "getting" this? What exactly is a warmer that is "suited" to the 4826A congeal point? To me? Sounds like they are covering their hinneys that you're going to find more warmers than not, that it doesn't work with, so then they can turn around and say " well your warmer isn't suited"... Im such a conspiratist LOL
  3. Sometimes, the best surprises, comes from "goofs"! Congrats on the new scents and sales.
  4. I love them ! I applaude anyone who will start a new project. It's scary and fun and crazy and frustrating!
  5. Nice job, you just blew my diet LOL
  6. Yeah I would love "gifts" but Ive always been more practical than that. I guess from always having to scrounge ya know? Way I see it, this is something I want, something I will have a ton of fun with, and, the businesswoman in me kicks in... if what I want, works out, it will save me a ton of money every year plus hopefully make me even more !
  7. ( peeking my head in ) After reading all this......... NOW do yall know why I DON'T do candles ????? lmao! That pure hurt my wittle head just readin it !
  8. Wow. Spend 100.00 to save on stuff you probably dont even use anyway. Dont see it happening !
  9. I'll try to suffer through it. I smoke so I doubt it's going to hurt my lungs more than that does. See? I'll be saving humanity from toxic chemicals !
  10. Candybee, Im going to get a sample pretty soon, and test it in 4794 and I hope it smells good. I'll let yall know. BF asked what I wanted for Christmas and I said " Aztecs entire sample package , all 250+ scents !!! LOL
  11. Im gonna hijack the thread for a sec !!! lol Yall listen to the dumbbutt move I did today ! I had to order some dyes from Alabaster , Ok Community Candle, can't get used to calling them that! I ordered the sample pack of 12 like I always do, price is 49.99 like its always been. (let me interject here that all I've bought from there since they changed hands, I was there in person ) Blakes in the warehouse when I call, he gets right on my order, cool, it'll be shipped today. Told him to just call me back with the total when he's finished in the warehouse and gets back up front. He does. $16.00 bucks to ship 12 1oz bottles of liquid dye, packing and box. I about had a cow!!! WTF is up with that??? I was so flabbergasted I couldn't say anything then I realized.... 1. its my own damn fault for not getting the total before he charged my card 2. I needed them anyway and I know the product so at least Im not dealing with anything new and not having to "mix" colors ( that is a fiasco for me ) and 3. they are using Fed Ex and even though Im not sure and I dont think it should have been that much, its still MY fault for being shocked because I didnt take the time to find out beforehand because I wasn't thinking about shipping costs up to here, and I've never had them ship me anything, I was always able to run by there. Lesson Learned. My fault.
  12. That is great to knowo Alajane! Thanks so much for passing the word along. Do you remember if she was using para or soy ?
  13. Omg those are the ugliest candles I've ever seen! You truly can not let anyone in the public have those !!!! Being the kind, considerate person I am, and wanting to save the world( straightens halo held up by tiara)....... I will suffer through the torment and enternal scarring, and take those away from you so no one ever had to be subjected to such a horrendous attempt!.....................
  14. Maybe just pull it tighter when you secure it? that, or, I have some shrink wrap for my baskets and stuff, and I will pull it tight, then LIGHTLY shrink it around whatever, and leave the top poofy. I have helped a friend of mine who does candles, shrink wrap hers, and if done carefully , it didnt effect the candle in any way.
  15. UPDATE : I heard back from Candle Science a second ago. They said that there were sorry, but they do not track lot numbers per order so they have no way of knowing what lot I got mine out of. That is understandable, but Im sure that in their files they have the lot numbers of the that for the past time THEY ordered . I asked Aztec for it yesterday, and had it in my hand within seconds ...... I wont give up my CS oils, but I might start going with Aztec for wax because at least if I need to know what lot it came out of, I can find out ASAP. ( plus there's always that lovely "no shipping" cause I'd drive over there. Speaking of shipping I just had one of those OMG you gotta be kidding moments. Ordered a sample pack of liquid dyes, 1 .23 lbs total... over 15.00 in shipping from Alabama to Tennessee. I feel like the horse ! It costs me 26 bucks to ship SIXTY lbs of wax the same amount of distance cept from NC here... someone please explain to me how , the same mileage, will cost ONE lb to cost over half that ??????
  16. I have 100 year round scents and "seasonals" depend on what I find that is interesting enough to promote. I am always rotating these out. Understand, I have things in 5 states and in a couple of those, up to 10 stores in areas that range from country store owned by grandma, to upscale salons. That's why I carry so many. Not all 100 are in any one given place except with me, at craft shows. I do have a library of almost 400 that I have tested, and luckily I've only had to say absolutely no to about 30 of those. That doesn't mean I have them laying around, nor that I have the oil on hand. It just means if someone requests it, I can get it usually in a hurry with no problems worrying will it work or not because I already know. Another thing, I make very large amounts of wax dipped items and I use these to "use up " a lot of oils I get to test, but dont want to make into melts. I will make up 30 to 50 tps at a time, and probably use 20 different scents in those. I couldn't move the bears for anything, and the TPs were slowish, until I started making them with very unique, not your usual and hard to find FOs. I was just lucky, it worked for me ( knocks on wood)
  17. What I do to help control the number of scents I carry all the time ( although its very large ) is I buy samples from suppliers when they go on 1.50 or .99 sale. I will get the limit ( usually 2 or 3 of each scent ) . This gives me a way to play, also to make at least 6 packs of melts in it. I buy , to keep on hand, what sells the fastest. I dont keep on hand scents that although they sell, lag around a little. Shipping : trying to take care of that now. I've always gotten my stuff my BCN or CS, and I love them, but Im looking into testing FOs from just down the road and see if I can't replace some. I have the utmost love and respect for my suppliers, but this is a money thing to me. Every day, candle and BnB supplies go up in cost, yet fewer people are buying. Thankfully that is turning around some, but like someone prior said " it's going to be suvival of the fittest to see who stays in business " and unfortunately sometimes you have to make business decisions above loyalty. I know this sounds snotty but I dont mean it that way but ....... I aint seen any of MY suppliers calling me up and telling me that they weren't raising their prices because they knew it would cause a hardship on my personal finances and my business finances. I doubt I'm ever large enough to have the "demand" to purchase in bulk like many of you guys and gals do, so I have to offer everything I can, or at least have easy access to it, at reasonable costs and a selection out of the ordinary. Competition is too stiff, and this road is the one I've chosen and it seems to be doing ok for me so far. Nothing massive but its enough to keep the lights on LOL
  18. I received some bath salts for an early Christmas pressie, and lets just say , I'm less than fond of the scent. It's "light" , thankfully but, can you add a body safe FO to this and try to tweak the scent? If it messes it up, can't be much worse than it is now ! lol
  19. Am so glad it worked out, eventually. But you should not have had to deal with that to begin with. I mean come on, 93.00 for a mold isn't cheap. I love recycling anything I can, but Im not going to sell someone a product, and then go " o by the way, I use old "whatever" to make your product you paid out the nose for, so I'll get around to getting it to you... sometime... whenever I can get my hands on it ". I would have sucked it up and paid the money for "new" wood, or looked at another supplier to get what I needed to make the box. We all know that we've had to deal with other than our usual suppliers when we needed an order filled and our supplier was out. BCN was out of hand sanitizer the other day on their website (which is understandable and wasn't upset ) and I needed it fast, so I was forced to get it from somewhere else, or lose a customer, and personally, I can't afford to lose even one right now. I just dont understand why he couldn't find WOOD somewhere else.
  20. I "wish/hope" it is that easy to figure out LOL Btw, totally offtopic, hows things back there? I was living Jasper when all that went down. I hope yall are recovering good. and WAR EAGLE !!!!! ( even if we did die a horrible death this year LOL )
  21. Spellkast, please remember these are OOB reviews. I am by NO means any where near as experienced as most that post on these boards, but I have tested very close to 400 scents in the last three years or so, give or take. Judging from the many suppliers I've used , on an OOB level, thats how I came up with the reviews on these. I wish I could tell you they will all work wonderfully in any wax, gel, or BnB product you put them in but I have no idea.. but I know Im going to be ordering LOTS AND LOTS of things to test from there so I can compare it to the scents I already carry, and if these stack up, Im switching due to shipping alone ! But, having said that, I truly love the FOs I carry now, so these have got to be just as good or better before I switch ! Losing customers because I switched to something that was cheaper to get, doesn't equal saving on shipping to me ! Not about to alienate clients for that !
  22. I love Candle Science's Pom Cider also.......... but as far as an OOB rating goes, today I smelled the Pom's and blends from Aztec and they smelled delicious. The straight Pom was tart but smooth.
  23. This is the lot number for what Aztec has ( a board member here got a bad case from them , and I got the lot number today when I went by there ) Aztec : 4794 Lot number 1005914 For some reason I can't find a Lot number on any of the paperwork or box I got from Candle Science. I will email Heather right now and ask her for it. HTH and hope you dont have the same lot! Or well, regardless of the lot, I hope it doesn't act like ours did.
