  1. Years ago, they sold a candle in Gatlinburg called " Bear Farts" . Only one shop sold it ( it was a purse and accessory store ). Every time we'd go there, I'd buy three or four of them. Unfortunately the store went out of business, and I can't find the candler that made them. I'd pay good money for those again or what scent they used. And Im with Pam.. DUCK Farts ?? I mean you can kinda figure out what Monkey Farts would smell like.. bananas, fruity, that sort of thing. Bear farts was berries and some other stuff I never could figure out ... but wth does a duck eat that I wanna smell ???????????????????
  2. O honey I was dead serious !! Anyone else got any they want a review on ? I have NOTHING but time tomorrow so unless they run me out of there lol , I can take mega time and explore ! Bring on the lists !!!!
  3. I've been sitting here thinking about that same thing. I only have an injet and dunno how I'd do the white letting unless I go somewhere and have them printed. I keep saying Im going to get a laser printer but I dont even know where to begin with that. I see all the gorgeous labels people put with the color intense photo quality pictures on them and think how beautiful they are... But back to the clear labels, Im at a loss. ( and Lord knows silk screening is out of the question LOL )
  4. Thanks Scented ! I can always use as many options and opinions as I can get !!
  5. I never thought something so "hick" would go over SO well. Since to a lot of people they are still unheard of, they get really curious when you start talking about good smelling toilet paper LOL. I do special orders all the time, but when I make them? I try to make up about 60 at a time. Rarely do I ever make one that looks the same unless someone special orders it.
  6. LOL franu61... but I'm "scentsing" a fire with 3oz of FO in a pound of wax ! Why would you want to put 3 oz in a pound anyway???? Not only is it mega expensive, and if you could get it to bind/blend without causing an explosion or fire.... If you get a good FO/wax combo, you just dont need more than 1.5 oz in a pound if you ask me. JMO tho.
  7. It will be a nice change that's for certain! Although , raven is gonna cost me mo money ! I found THE bottles I want at NG LOL . The silver are great, I have them for some things and I like the solid black ones I got from McKern but I just gotta get me some of those smoky black ones !!!
  8. You just made my day !!! Thanks hun ! (grabs my coffeecan and puts it by my purse ! )
  9. adillenal, did you mean 94 or 86 ? I hadn't seen an 84. I've used 94 forever and love it.
  10. " How long does it last " .... as stated up there ^^ , depends on your wax and scent. I know this sounds crazy to some of yall, but I have one TP sitting behind me on a shelf, that I did 2 years ago, and every time I walk past it, I can get a whiff. Its not super strong but it's just as "smelly" as most candles are on CT. It's honestly "nothing" for one of the TPs to last , without refreshing, 6 months, and they can go up to two years refreshing. Now, having said that, it does depend on the airflow in the room. If its in direct drafts all the time, no , its not going to last as long. One good tip for those that need freshening up in the winter .. if you have air vents in the floor, sit it on top of that. The warm air flow will gently scent the air. I only suggest doing this with those that scents are getting lighter on. I've found , for the most part, and dont ask me why cause I dont know, but TPs tend to last longer, than dipped bears do (without refreshening that is ). I use the same amount of scented wax in a 7in dipped bear as I do a TP and the bears need refreshening sooner to me, ( usually around month 4) and more often than TP. (Note: Everyone does it differently, but I dont use "regular" size rolls of TP and I dont use the inexpensive stuff. Since I tend to go nuts with the decorations on mine, whether its florals, ribbons, or cake types, I use Scott 1000. It holds more FO/wax when I need it to, without falling apart ( like doing cakes, some of those have up to 3 lbs of wax and scent on/in them ) and it still hands well with 1:1 when Im just putting some ribbons on it or sparklies ) Wax dipped Pinecones : These , for me , are a complete booger to make but I love love love them at the same time. Scent wise, they do not last as long as the other dipped things, because theres not as much wax on each one, but if you put a big basket of them together? Watch out! LOL You get a scent explosion. People use these for decorations, and they also use them and firestarters. I make other firestarters so haven't ran into many people that want to pay the price for these pinecones just to throw them in a fireplace. Dipped clothespins : Me? I've never gotten more than a month out of them WITHOUT refreshing. I am new to this one so maybe someone who knows more about them will pop in and give some more info. Paper Towel Rolls : I get about a year out of them before refreshing. Give or take, depends on the FO I used. Just like with everything, some fizzle out way before others. Jeanie, on the bears with the tongs ? I gave up doing it that way LOL I just use high heat resistant surgical type gloves and I dunk em and just squeeze the lil critter to make it distribute good, then I roll him around in the wax I squeezed out, so he soaks it all up. Since I always have wax paper under my work stuff, I just peel off what goes everywhere, and throw it back in the pot to remelt LOL
  11. Im going to head over there tomorrow to get some things and I'll find out if they will let me snoop or not. If they do, I'll definitely get to it. If there's something in particular yall want an OOB review on, IF I can get to samples in person, holler back at me and I'll make a list and go from there
  12. LOL Yeah it was to you ! I was just feeling silly ! I didn't take offense at all darlin A lot of times I have a really dry sense of humor that not everyone " gets " LOL
  13. :bow:My mouth just hit the floor ! I have never seen anything like that in my life! Everyone has amazing pictures on here, and I love seeing all the swirls and designs they come up with, but THAT ???? One day , I wanna grow up and be able to do that !!!
  14. hmmm Thanks Sliver, I might try to get some from there. I just love the ease of liquids. I guess one of the reasons I went with Alabaster years ago ,( now Community Candle I think it is ) , is they had so many different shades and for me at the time, just starting out, it was easier to get one of their sampler packs with tons of different colors in it, til I figured out how to work the dyes. Thanks for the suggestion! I usually try to stick with what has worked for me, but at the same time, Im open to new suggestions if it can improve things! Thanks Again !
  15. Dipping can fast become an addiction just like candles. It's easy, fast, fun, it's a good type of novelty to expand your line with little testing or money involved. Some people love it, some people hate it, but if you turn into one of the ones that love it ? You're going to be looking at EVERYTHING differently and thinking " hmm can I dip that? " LOL Every time I dip a bear? I kiss him on the nose before I dunk him LOL.
  16. *hiding*sowwy Not sure if it's too much coffee or not enough yet this morning LOL
  17. I just received an order for one of my TPs, and they want it "goth". Black TP with red "blood" swirls dripped on it ( similar to the picture below but in black with red ). I usually get my liquids dyes out of Alabaster but I was wondering if anyone has had to do a REALLY red candle before, and if so, did you use liquids, pigs, flakes, blocks, etc? I really dont want to have to buy more dye but will if I have to ( its for BF's daughter so I gotta make him happy lol )
  18. Thanks so much sweetie! I don't mind driving over there a bit, especially if they will let me sniff around, literally LOL. I know OOB can be misleading, but I tend to do 1ozers at a time so I don't use up a lot of wax. ( guess if they don't work in wax, I'll always have some smelly wax to make firestarters with LOL ) Think I'll give them a call in the morning and see if they have a display set up in their offices so we can take a whiff. One of my old suppliers had one and I used to love going in there and messing around!
  19. Raven, THANK YOU for the link! Kitn, I have some FOs for lotion that contain a lot of vanilla in it and some turn the lotion a light tan or offwhite color. While it doesn't bother me personally, nor most of my customers, I do make sure I have it in it when I put stuff in a store on the shelf just in case those customers mind lol Jeanie/Raven : I do/did order a good bit from BCN and although I haven't ever used the Aloe body wash, I do know there is quite a few discussions on their board, concerning which of THEIR FOs makes it thin, too thin, cloudy, turns colors, thickens it up too much , yadda yadda. Since you are only to talk about their products, I couldn't begin to guess which other suppliers might cause a change in product. Again, thanks for the link Raven Yall have all been so great to me over here, and I do appreciate it more than you know
  20. Very sexy candle there !!! lol I do love how you are able to describe the scent on the label. It's "different" that you do that, and I think it's a nice change from "normal" labels. The color is beautiful , makes me want one! And I do love the color of the label and font ( is that a Kraft?) Now, the only thing I'D change if it were me is I'd make sure the plastic was tighter around the candle. Formed to it. In transporting, if the candle shifts around much, I would be concerned it would leave its mark on the plastic so to speak, and it smudge the inside of the plastic. That's just my opinion honey and you do whatever is best for YOU! But I do absolutely love it and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
  21. As we all know, WSP had went off their rockers. I wont say I wont order from her again because there are a couple of things I really love from there and when I have the money to get them all at one time, its a good deal BUT ! I desperately need some Vanilla Stabilizer for Lotion. Not soap, not candles but lotion. And unfortunately the only place I've ever seen it was there. Im too new to post of the classifieds, but do any of you know where I can find Vanilla Stabilizer for Lotion? I've done a Google and didnt get far with it. I have a small order to go out this week ( its too late to get it now unless I overnight it ) and I was only going to get like an 8 oz bottle. Thing is, the 16oz bottle is like 13 bucks.. but then that crazy heiffer adds in 20 bucks for shipping !!!!! So, if anyone knows where I can find a supplier for this stuff, I sure would appreciate it !!!
  22. Absolutely agree with that one I've been blessed to have a very large, and very diverse clientele from every nook and cranny of the U.S. who have purchased here and reordered multiple times. I truly believe one of the reasons I have done a lot better than most would think at this stage in the game, is a huge percentage of the candlers in this area, do the same scents with little variation, as their neighbor literally next door. Although they must be doing something right, I have found there are a lot more people than I would have thought, who prefer to have a larger, more varied selection to choose from when they go on vacation, instead of the exact same thing they can get at home or at Walmart, CVS, Dollar General, Kmart or anywhere else.
  23. Smacks Jeanie's hand.. HUSH WOMAN ! Dont give them any more wild ideas than they already have. Can you believe they have already started delivering mail around here up to 7 pm ???? I was getting my mail around 1 pm until last week.. now I never know when I'll get it.
  24. I knew I didn't want to do candles any time soon. For me, too much testing, too expensive, I dont have the patience, plus, it was just getting into the era of wax melts, and different types of attractive scented home decor. What I did, was read a board forum ( Bitter Creeks) for literally 3 years before I ever purchased much less made my own stuff. I would ( and still do ) read everything I can get my hands on, whether its about actual candles or whatever ( cept CP soap, thats another "not going there yet " thing for me ) I just read and read, and asked probably 10zillion questions. When it came time for me to start buying wax and everything else, I had an idea what I wanted ( a wax that had good adhersion, great scent throw, as little cure time as possible , as close to one pour as I could get in case I started making candles,... ) I pretty much wanted a "one stop wax". Something I could use for as many products as I could, so I settled on testing IGI 4794. It's not let me down yet and luckily I got the results I wanted, first time out of the gate. That's how I ended up deciding. I had the luxury of doing nothing but reading for a very long time.
  25. hehehehe Pam, I know, I know !!! Im just a FOHO in a tourist area trying to compete with about 30 other candlers LOL (wish I was exaggerating )
