  1. I do that too. Melt clear base, add scent, add color and pour into unscented white base. Colors are better in clear base than in white. IMO.
  2. I know Nature's Garden doesn't allow the usage of their photos either, but you can use their fragrance descriptions. I get all my photos from Dreamtime. I buy credits for the photos that are royalty free and can be used for the website as well as my labels.
  3. Already cost me. I had to buy a couple cases to try out. *sigh* That's a great idea by the way, the wax crumbles with the wooden scoop. Yup, may have to try that.
  4. I also work in my kitchen, and there just isn't enough counterspace. I have 2 rooms in my house that are not carpeted, the kitchen and my laundry room. The laundry room, at the moment, has become a storage room for extra supplies, in addition to my washer & dryer. My glass top stove serves as extra counter space most of the time.
  5. I buy foaming bath whip to make my sugar scrubs and I buy the organic lotions from Candles & Supplies for my hand & body lotion. I also use their Aloe Body Wash & Bubble Bath made bases. For body butters, bath bombs, lotion bars ..etc., I make my own.
  6. I've been using the Organic Lotion from Candles & Supplies - http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/Organic-Hand-Body-Massage-Lotion_2 - they also have a thicker organic cream. I saw you're in PA, so is Candles & Supplies, it would be cheaper on shipping for you.
  7. All the time. I usually can clean out Kmart or Walmart in one shopping day. I try to get glasses that are made of heavy glass, with thick sides and base. The cherry cobbler candle is made in an Anchor Hocking brand glass, which I bought from Crate & Barrel. The other sundae glasses I bought at a flea market for $2.00 for all 6. The outdoor scenic tumblers I also bought at the flea market for $2.00 for a set of 4. I do a lot of shopping for glasses at the flea market.
  8. Yeah, it happens a lot to me too. I make a lot of different products, from soy candles to soap and other scented creations. I just don't know what to take and how much. Sometimes the customer is buying candles and tarts, and the next time it's soap. And you really don't know until you get to the show what is selling and what isn't. I've learned to get 2 tables, one for soap and one for candles/tarts. I cannot take everything, I just don't have enough room in my truck to haul it all to the show. But it never fails, there is always someone who wants something that I don't have at the show.
  9. I use Ecosoya PB wax for my tarts and normally cure for about a week before testing them. I've had frosting on my tarts, but not every scent frosts. Most of those that have frosted for me, frost after about 6 months or so. Any scent with vanilla in it will likely frost and have a brown or yellow tint to them.
  10. Thanks! I really like the look of the organza bags, I'll have to try those heat sealed tea bags.
  11. I found some herbal bath tea recipes last night and I mad a couple batches today, my only hang up now is what to package them in. They are too powdery for organza bags, the powder milk, corn starch...etc. sifts right through the bag. These have herbs in them so I don't want to put the mix in cello bags, they should be in something to toss into the water. Any suggestions?
  12. Yep I have a Facebook too! http://www.facebook.com/pages/JS-Homespun-Creations/163418423669880
  13. Yep I am not too far from you. I sent you a private message.
  14. Yeah Renningers is pretty much covered by Sharon and her candles. I heard now she has her own shop in somewhere in Kutztown. My parents have had an indoor display (monuments) for the past 30 years at Renningers. They do have the big extravaganzas a couple times a year but I think a lot of it is antiques and not so much craft.
  15. wick testing with an 8oz Apothecary jar and in between making some bubble bars, lotion bars, and goat's milk soap. Craft shows are around the corner, only 5 weeks until my 1st one of the season.
  16. You can buy the pie crusts already made from suppliers like Candle Kitchen - http://www.candlekitchen.com/index.html I'm one who has no patience when it comes to waiting for molds to set and I have a low tolerance for breaking crusts and embeds, so I buy mine pre-made/scented. It's less stressful.
  17. I use Chocolate Layer Cake (CM) from RE, also the Hot Chocolate (KY) is good too.
  18. I don't much worry about what they do or what they sell. I have Scentsy customers buying my tarts simply because of the scent and price. A lot I talk to don't like the scents offered by Scentsy and are looking for something better, different or unique. That's why I offer what I do. I also have customers who buy my tarts because it's soy and not paraffin.
  19. Test burning new mason jars and trying to control my fragrance addiction. Neither is working out too well. LOL I hate testing new jars, I should always go with what I know. If it's not broken, don't fix it. *sigh*
  20. Here's Event Lister/Craft Lister link - http://www.eventlister.com/ I also google local churches, clubs ..etc. and check out their events calender or monthly newsletters. Most of the time you don't have to be a member to participate in the shows and most times registration fees are donated to the church/club.
  21. I have my current website and domain with Yahoo Business. But I'll be moving soon, my business partner/friend (an online entertainment magazine) is making me a new website and our server will be hosting the new website, saving me $19 a month. I made my own website and purchased graphics from Trina Clark.
  22. Looks like a straight sided jar. You can find them at Fillmore. http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/Food-or-Candle-Containers-C20.aspx
