  1. In the beginning it took a lot of work for me to get the right combinations of wick/wax/jar/FO. I'm heating 415 to 185 then adding FO and cooling down to the just slushy stage around 95-110. In the beginning I remember without fully understanding curing, I thought I would give up on the soy. I've now learned to work with it. I mostly make jar candles in natural color, so no frosting worries. When I have an all citrus FO I add it at about 160 after cooling from 185.
  2. Thank you so much, I was hoping there were more out there :/ I'm going to look all these up and pick one or two to order from the suppliers I already order from.
  3. I LOVE LOVE Day-Star Oils!! They do so well for me in my wax and sometimes I will just go in and take a big sniff. If you want Lush Dupes they are not always indicated as that on the site but I'm familiar with her oils so I'll be happy to let you know which ones are you are considering are dupes. Must Haves: Cinnamon Glazed Baklava Blackberry Jam Butter cookies Ultimate Vanilla Cake Batter Angel Food Cake Chergui Winds Wood Vanilla Queen of D'Nile Saddle Shop (this one sells great to guys) Sampaquita Promises Apache Tears Light Blue Sky (this is a dead-on dupe for Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue) There are so many others I can't think of right off the top of my head right now. You will enjoy these oils greatly! Lorelei
  4. NG Monkey Farts has been a great strong oil in our line. Although I don't use 464 I do use 415 and Pillar Blend and this fragrance throws really well at 1oz per pound in both waxes. I use CD wicks in both waxes. The type of wick could affect the throw for sure, but before giving up on your wicks, try to wick up higher, and let the fragrance cure a little longer. You might want to even try going down a bit on your fragrance oil, say 6-9%. But Monkey Farts is a very strong one so you should not have to be using 10% to get a great throw. There was a fragrance from NG that was expensive and that was so light after pouring but I LOVED it OOB (Tibetian Amber). Good thing I told the customer to wait a week before burning it. I made it as a special order for this customer. I poured an extra clamshell for me and forgot about it in my desk drawer. More than a month later I saw it and wondered what it was. When I opened it, strong scent blew me away! A lot of people will give up a scent that takes that long to cure. I personally think that the scent really sometimes gets a lot of depth after curing. There is no set time frame for it, but with 415 I see the cure situation a lot. I've only found one oil I didn't really feel threw well in my soy so far. Monkey Farts I've seen with lots of people who use 464 so don't give up! Also how is your melt pool on these candles? Lorelei
  5. Please call Natures Garden, they ship to Australia. I saw someone talking about an order there a few weeks ago on their FB page.
  6. Also HappyDIY on Etsy too.
  7. I could only find really old posts about this. Do any of you know who carries some of these? I know DS carries Havana....that's all I'm aware of currently. Would love to try some of these after smelling them in our local grocers. Thanks! L
  8. I guess with the new forum set up, it is difficult to tell dates...then one person answers, and it shows on new replies and we all begin to chime in to the "new thread" lol
  9. I'm not collecting for perfection, but mostly collecting Patchouli because I can't stop myself for trying just that next one that contains patch.
  10. Also remember with soy you might get a little more throw with some cure time. My total PB tarts need some cure time usually. I only have one fragrance I can't get to throw or stick so far. Even sometimes the lighter scents are preferred by clients.
  11. I always have to put my bowl in the freezer to pop anything out.
  12. I know NG has one but I forgot to sniff that one when I was there so I can't vouch for it.
  13. I cannot agree more! I "friended" another chandler who talks about her personal life, how she is mistreated by her husband, curses him and her mother openly about their past mistreatment and present, complains about everything...horrible! I've even seen others complain about the fragrances they were pouring, and how awful they felt when they poured them or how exhausted they had become while pouring, shared their new ink on their backside! I can't take that from any company, it is not professional. Who wants that? Sure we complain about things here like getting woozy pouring Lovespell but not to our customers!
  14. Daystar has so many awesome vanillas it would make your head spin!! Try over there! http://www.daystarsupplies.com/folist.htm
  15. I used facebook too. We just started it not long ago so I have less than 100 members. That is the biggest quest!
  16. I really like the look of the silver lid, I'd love one that didn't have any indentations on the top. Thanks all for your quick replies. Candles look great in them!
  17. I saw these at Fillmore but I've not ever ordered from them. Have you used these jars and if so what are your impressions? Also does anyone else carry them that you know of? Thanks! Lorelei
  18. I went and had a great time, met one person on this list but because no one put their company names I couldn't figure out who everyone was so probably saw some of you but didn't know!! We had a great time and enjoyed the food and sniffing all the fragrances. I too would have liked to see the other products out on a table because she only had one catalog in the whole warehouse!! Anyway the food and Deb's parents were wonderful and we had a good time!
  19. I live in Texas and I'm wondering what the best place would be to purchase oils (price wise) such as jojoba, coconut, avocado etc. Currently I'm buying at MMS and love their oils but wondered if there was some place that might cost less that would have less shipping to Texas?
  20. Yes I agree with the Vanilla Bean Noel
  21. I wish we had made arrangements to meet at the Open House!! I smelled this one and bought a sample. It is really nice but I've not poured it yet. I'll let you know! It has a very vanilla note, very nice one.
