  3. We picked up jars at Makes Scents in Columbus Ohio and they had tart molds that they told me held 2 ounces. Their website is not updated..they said they webmaster stopped working on it and won't give passwords and they are in the midst of making a new one so I would call and place the order to double check pricing http://www.makesscentscandles.com/shopping/molds.html
  4. I emailed 4less this "can u do 4 32oz for the free shipping it comes out to the same weight? what grade are your oils and are they uncut? I also see your processing is through the Candlemaker's Store? " and this is the reply I got: Hello, Sorry, the free shipping offer cannot be adjusted or exchanged. Our Fragrances are full strength and uncut. Thank you, WholesaleFragrances4Less.com I also emailed candlemakers with this "Subject: wholesale fragrance 4 less They have on their site that you process their credit cards.. how are you affiliated with them. Are they reselling your fo's and if so what grade and how cut are they?" This is the reply I got: Hello, We do some order processing and shipping of their products from our distribution center. Thank you, The Candlemaker's Store ****************************************************** As you can see neither one totally answered what I asked about grade of fragrance. I am still not sure what to make of all of this???

    444 for tarts?

Does anybody here use 444 for tarts? and if so what % of fo do u use? We are looking to change from a custom blend to something a bit simpler in a pre-blend.
  6. I just sent out an email and hopefully got it to everybody.. if you want one and I missed you just let me know :rolleyes2
  7. What does a "weathered crow" smell like... when I picture a weathered crow a dirty old bird comes to mind..lol
  8. We use NG and have had great response and sells well.
  9. I have had a crazy 2 weeks with a fair and total restocking. I will send these out on Monday.. sorry for the delay.
  10. We have sold tarts in our store unwrapped. We keep them in glass jars and have small bags for the customer to place the ones they pick in. We have had no complaints from customers but hate the way the jar looks..it gets marks from the wax and the tarts eventually get marked up from rubbing up against each other. We just this week are switching to using portion cups with lids. My candlemaker (aka Carl my fiancee..lol) is liking it so far since so easy to pour and less handling of each tart. As for "duds"... I use those personally in my home/shop..
  11. Hmmm.. I have no idea what a verbena is or how it is supposed to smell. :rolleyes2
  12. I have put mine in the freezer.. just let it sit for a long while after taking out.
  13. We were in a pinch and picked up some 415 soy flakes from a different supplier than our normal one. This box seems way way drier than any other we have gotten. We usually can easily get 51 ounces in a melt pot but this is so dry it takes more than the pot can hold to reach the 51 ounces. Also, the first batches with this have had frosting issues big time.. could this be due to the drier wax? Any suggestions????

    "like Scentsy"

I know.. but the wickless way is becoming bigger and people want more classy less country and cutesy. I'll keep searching. OBII has a couple but everytime I get them the bulbs are shattered in them... grrr. So then I have to spend money to replace bulbs...double grrr.

    "like Scentsy"

I have a store front is a smaller somewhat rural town and I kept having request for warmers "like Scentsy has". Anybody got some suppliers to share with me. I have used OBI and a couple of their are more contempary and "scenty-like"..lol I just picked at Scentsy Spring Catalog and I do agree they are beautiful warmers.. some are little pieces of scupture/art compared to more "country style ones". On a happier note.. One lady came in and bought 2 of my warmers saying she told them at the scentsy party last night she likes to support her own downtown business.. YAY..
  17. Thanks those look yummy and will smell yummy too..
  18. We want to make some 3 layer jar candles and were wondering if you all could give us some combinations that work well for you? Thanks and Happy Friday
  19. Awesome display. Aren't you glad for your handy hubby...love the bathbomb display
  20. I had a friend tell me that a garage sale in town had "candle making stuff" so I went to check it out. I got 48 apothecary jars with lids (new still in boxes) and 200 eco wicks and some miscellaneous small hex jars and 8 bottles of Magic Metallic paint (no clue what it has to do with candles). Best of all it was all only 20 bucks All of the items but the paint are from Bittercreek and would of been 68 dollars without shipping.
  21. Thanks for letting me know Menards carries the right size bulb. I am just mystified how the bulbs light up but don't produce enough heat to melt the tart?? I will buy extra bulbs and include 1 in each box in case the OBI bulb is defective. Takes from my bottom line profit but I'd rather make sure I have happy customers. In one of my business classes they said that a customer will tell a negative experience to 10 people... I dont want that..lol
  22. I had a customer last week return a plug in.. She said it stopped melting the tart? I know it was working when she bought it because it had been a display piece. She said it melted for a couple of days and then nothing- even thought lightbulb not burnt out? She had put a new bulb in it but was only 4 watt so not strong enough. I tried a new 15 watt bulb and it worked fine. She also told me that her friend (whom she had brought to the store a day or so after she was first in) said her plug-in never melted a tart at all???? I have a display that I have 3 plugged in.. I usually only actually melt with one of them.. just turn the others on to show how it looks lit. When I put a tart in the next display model.. it never melted either?? Light is bright and strong though. Anybody else having any problems? I am going to plug each one in and make sure it melts a tart before I sell it.. and I am not sure I will replace the plug ins once I sell my stock.
  23. I think a lot of how to mark up depends upon your locale and the clientle. I personally try and mark up x2 but I also usually take into consideration the economic climate in my town. I have been told my prices are too low.. but I am making money and I like the fact that most people can afford to come into my store and buy something. I had a lady tell me the other day that my store allows her to come in weekly and get something new and that being a single mom she appreciates being able to have a luxury for herself. I want to make money and also provide happiness to others..I am a bit of a Pollyanna I guess.
