  1. Hi I am wanting to start making soap but I am not sure where to even start. And anyone suggest what would be best for a beginner.
  2. Has anyone else had trouble wicking this scent? I am using 6006 wax with 8% FO so far I have wicked it up two sizes in a 3" container using eco wicks so far tried 8, 10, and 12 still drowning out. May try using less FO and try the eco 12 again. Kay
  3. I made vanilla fudge.... half chocolate fudge half very vanilla from CS. Everytime I burn it I want to eat it!! smells yummy..... Kay
  4. I vote for CS very vanilla... smells like the real thing. Kay
  5. I buy all my FO from CS found theirs to be the best so far. Kay

  7. I have a friend who just loves these candles - Capri Blue Volcano no.6 which sell for around $28.00 for a 24 oz candle. I found this information on their site thought it was a noval idea to mushrooming since we all trive to NOT have mushrooming from our candles! When burning Aspen Bay Candles, wicks will develop a black "fragrance mushroom". This "fragrance mushroom" is caused by the high volume of fragrance oils which have made our "Fragrances with Wicks" so popular. A wick serves as a straw when burning, pulling the fragrance oil through the wax and releasing the fragrance into the air as it burns. Aspen Bay Candles' "fragrance mushroom" is a constant reminder to you of our dedication to quality and your enjoyment. When a "fragrance mushroom" is formed, gently blow out the flame, let cool, trim wick to 1/8"-1/4" and relight. Without this simple attention, the "fragrance mushroom" could smoke and cause an oversized flame. Kay
  8. I use 6006 no soy added. I wick my containers, put them on a cookie sheet as close together as I can get them. Heat them in my oven 175 with the door open. I dont take them out until I am ready to pour them. I pour and leave them on the cookie sheet to cool. So far no wet spots. Your containers might be getting too cool by the time you wick them. Try wicking them before you put them in the oven. Kay
  9. I am looking for a very strong sweet orange scent any recommendations. Kay
  10. Thanks for that tip I know that weighing the water doesnt work its heavier than wax. Kay
  11. I get some hang up with the second and third burn but it seems to even out about the last half of the container. Kay
  12. I recently tested Zincs in 6006 8% Fo they burned fine but didnt care for the mushrooming and I dont think I got as good of HT from them. I use a eco 8 in a 3" container and a eco 6 in a 2.5 - 2.75" container have had great results. Still searching for the right combo in a 4" container. Kay
  13. What kind of wax are you using that will make all the difference in the world. Kay
  14. Thanks that would save lots of time! Kay
  15. Does remelting wax (already made candles) to many times affect the Integrity of the wax. With much flustration I have been testing a zillion wicks and remelting the same one down. This last test when it was cooling it got a huge crack down the middle of the container. Kay
  16. Candlescience has a nice bright green. Kay
  17. I was just wondering what methods everyone using when heating their jars. I have tried a heat gun but can seem to get an even heat I end up with wet spots. The last batch I did I put them in the oven on my hold setting (which is 175 degrees) with the door partly open. So far no wet spots. I am not sure at what temp. would be too hot and stress the jars. Next time I am going to test the temp of the jars to see just how hot they get. Kay
  18. What is the reason you would want to add this to your wax? What are the benefits. Kay
  19. Never seen them before but it looks like they skewer them right through the wick. Kay
  20. I use eco wicks with my 6006. I use an eco 8 in a 3" container. That might be a start for you. I get them at cs. Kay
  21. I reuse my own test jars. I did have a friend ask me if I could make a candle in a martini glass I told her no. Besides being a wick nightmare they are very thin. I wouldnt use any container that was not made for candles or at least a thick glass. Kay
  22. The Patchouli FO I used from genwax I ended up having to wick up on its a heavy FO. Kay
  23. When you measure the melt pool depth do you measure by the wick or by the edge of the container? or both? I am using tins so I use a wooden skewer to measure the depth. Kay
