Anyone have any suggestions what I can add to a orange scent to get a sugared orange scent? Is there any scents out there that are just a sugar/sweet scent? I do see Wellington has a scent called" Sugar" anyone try this one? Kay

I have never used straight soy or palm wax. I use 6006 container wax which is a paraffin blend. Kay

Some wicks will mushroom more than others, which is why it's important to test a few different types so you can find one that you like the best. Some wicks will mushroom if the wick is too large for your application so you can try using a smaller wick. In other cases the wick will mushroom after burning for long periods of time. I get mushrooming on my eco wicks when I burn them for along period of time. Kay

Not sure what you mean by clumpy back stuff. Are you talking about mushrooming? Also what kind of wax are you using? Kay

Thanks Susan now I just have to figure out what size caps to get for the glass bottles I have. I got some FO's from generalwax that came in plastic but they are not HDPE grade so I am going to put them in the right ones. Kay

I am not use what dia. your container is but it sounds like your wick may be to large. I would either try wicking down a size or go with a cotton type wick like eco, htp's or cd's. Kay

What kind of wax are you using? Also what size is your container? Kay

I posted this in the general candle making section and thought I would post it here also: I hate to waste FO so I got some plastic bottles at the beauty supply that have spouts on them. I am hoping this helps stop the FO from dribbling down the bottle and on my hands. They come in 4oz, 8oz & 16oz. Testing out the 4oz ones. I did some research on the bottles and they are HDPE type 2 plastic the same type plastic bottles the FO suppliers use. I also just spoke with CS and they are in the process of changing over to amber plastic bottles for their FO's. I sugguested CS check into using the spouted tops on their FO bottles. Kay

I also made the sugguestion that they check into using the spout top caps on their FO bottles. I did some research on the plastic bottles that I got at the beauty supply and they are HDPE type bottles. They are the same type of plastic bottles that suppliers use for their FO bottles. So I dont think there should be a problem with them leaching. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is the most widely used resin for extrusion blown plastic bottles. HDPE is economical, impact resistant, and provides a good moisture barrier. HDPE is best known for its naturally translucent appearance and flexibility. It is compatible with a wide range of products including acid concentrates and some caustics, but is not compatible with solvents. It is usually supplied in FDA approved food grade. HDPE is naturally translucent and flexible. The addition of color will make HDPE opaque although not glossy. HDPE offers good protection at below freezing temperatures, but must not be used with products filled at over 180°F or products requiring a hermetic seal. Kay

Does anyone know where to get this FO its called Volcano or Blue Volcano. It is a sugared orange scent. Kay

I wasnt sure if the FO would leach out or not I know that some FO come in plastic bottles. Might check into getting just the caps if I have problems with the bottles. I had a 1 oz sample bottle of vanilla that came in a plastic bottle I never used it was at least 6 years and it never leached at all. The bottles were cheap only $1.59 ea. Kay

I would go ahead and test burn the candle all the way down and see what happens. (not all at once) Do several more test burns. If your having to pour wax out when its at the top your wick may get drowned out farther down the jar. (not sure how tall your container is) If that happens you may want to wick up. Happy Testing! If your going to use glue you better make sure you get one that has a high melt temp. the glue may end up melting when your melt pool gets down to the bottom. I think going with glass containers sounds like your best bet. Kay

How much FO are u adding? Maybe you need to add more this wax says it can hold up to 9% or 1-1/2 oz per lb. Kay

I use 6006A container wax. I have great HT and it cuts like butter! Best of all its one pour. Kay

Mindy I have got one container down to the right eco wick. Eco 8 in a 3" dia. seems to work good. But I am still having trouble with a 4" dia. container. Have you tried any CD wicks on that size. I do have some CD22 wicks on hand I may give that a try they are for a 4.5" - 5"dia container. I have tried double wicking this container with 2 eco 6 but the melt pool is way over an inch deep. I would really like to just single wick it. Kay

You might try wicking down a size and keeping your wick trimmed to 1/4". Kay

Thanks for the info they dont seem to have IGI6006 they do have a wax that sounds close $103.68 for a 55lb case. Calwax CB30 Paraffin & Soy Blend Container Wax Calwax CB30 Paraffin (70%)/Soy (30%) Single pour blend for container candles & tealights. Works best for tarts/wax melts. Formulated to maximize adhesion and minimize shrinkage. This product is a true “one pour” in all but the largest containers. Because of its low melt point and softness it will burn down cleanly and completely even in large diameter containers. Its creamy appearance allows colors to have depth and intensity. This base can hold and disperse high fragrance levels without additional additives. A pour temperature of 155 F is recommended. Works well with all types of wicks & containers. has anyone ever used this wax? Kay

I too use the 6006 and live in Northern Ca. I did some price checking and here is what I got from several suppliers for this wax by the case. (including shipping) Genwax $149.28 (ca company) CS $132.94 WCS $136.40 Lonestar $126.28 Peak $110.03 Its way cheaper for me to have a case shipped across country then to get it here local. Kay
