  1. Thanks I used Sage & Pomagranate from CS. I only added color green oxide to part of the batch. I can tell this is going to be a much harder bar its already hardened a lot in just 24 hours after I cut it.
  2. This was my first time adding color to my soap cant wait to see what color it ends up. Also trying a new recipe to get a harder bar of soap.
  3. Made my second batch of CP soap this weekend. I am trying a new recipe to see if I can get a harder bar of soap. Did a two color layer this time, first time trying color. Hope I did ok! I will now more tomorrow when I unmold it... Kay
  4. I used the soap cal to figure my lye which was set at 38 for water % to oils. Guess I will have to try the zap test!
  5. What is the best way to test your soap to make sure the ph level is at a safe level to use. I was gonna try and find some ph test strips wasnt sure if they were the best to use. Kay
  6. The only fo that I had trouble with was cinnamon buns have yet to get a wick that doesnt drown out on this one.
  7. I use 6006 and eco wicks. I use a eco 8 in a 3" container and a eco 12 in a almost 4" container. I dont get a complete container melt pool but the hangup does eventually melt and I dont get any left on the sides when its all burnt down.
  8. If it werent for the fact that I got 30 lbs and spent $70 I would just scrap it. I did think about trying to sell it for canning. Kay
  9. Do u know what the blend is for 6006? I cant seem to find that information anywhere.
  10. I made a big boo boo I ordered the wrong wax which I can not return so I am thinking I may try to make my own blend. I normally use 6006 container wax. I ordered straight paraffin wax so I was going to try and make a 70/30 para/soy blend. Does anyone else here make their own blend? Kay
  11. I tried making citronella 3" tins with 6006 used about 8% fo and a eco 12 wick. Well my son took one camping and the whole container of wax caught on fire!!yikes... think the wick was way to big ....

  13. I made some citronella candles for outdoors. My son took one camping and said the whole container of wax caught on fire and was burning!!!! I can remember the exact amount of frangrance oil I used I forgot to write this one down. I used a 3" tin with a eco 12 wick and most likely 8% Fo in a 6006 wax. Citronella does have a low flash point but the candles cures for about 3 weeks or so. I am sure the wick was way to big for the container and produced to much heat. OMG how scarey. Kay
  14. Made my first batch of CP soap. Hoping it turned out good wont know until it cures!! I poured it at a very thick trace so I could manipulate the top. Bars are 1 1/2" x 3.50" x 2.25" approx 5.50 to 5.75 oz each. I made my own mold so I could have the small end on the top. They are Tea Tree and Lemongrass with poppy seeds.
  15. I was wondering what wick trimmers do most people use that make and sell a large number of candles. I have a pair of Wickman deluxe trimmers but they have already gone dull. I might try sharpening them. Kay
  16. I think it turned out pretty good. It was a very basic soap recipe. Cant wait to try it on my own. Kay
  17. I actually like the unfinished look on one end. I am building a soap mold so that the smaller end is up so I can leave it unfinished. Really makes it look hand made. Kay
  18. Great site had lots of helpful info... Kay
  19. I found a supplier in my area that offers classing on cold press soap making so I signed up cant wait.......... Kay
