  1. I am excited about the search tool. I am going to definitely check that out. This tech board is so helpful. I am so happy someone recommended it to me. It can be so frustrating when you have problems arise and this way you don't feel alone and struggling. Thank you. Elizabeth
  2. I ordered a sample pack of Cotton wicks from Peak and am going to do some experimenting. I will let you know what I think.
  3. Actually I do buy them (EC Wicks)from Candle Science. I buy my wax from Lone Star because I can drive there and pick it up and save myself the freight. I wonder does one company, I guess "Eco" make all of those wicks or is that a type of wick and not a brand. I know, probably a dumb question. I am just perplexed, but also, yes it is the Cinnamon Stick and the Antique Sandalwood from Candle Science that are suddenly not wanting to burn. And I have read on other threads that Cinnamons are one of the hardest scents to get to burn, but I used to never have any problems with either of these scents and I have been using both scents from the very beginning, when I started 2 years ago. And I am damn well not throwing out wax. I will just have to figure out something else.
  4. Awesome. I may try some of those. I really like the idea of getting away from the glue gun. I don't like the stringy cobwebby stuff and the occasional blister when a blob falls on me. I tried the ones from Candle Science and they failed miserably. I put some in the jars. Pushed them down really well with the butter knife and then tried to pick up the empty jar by the wick and it came right out. I mean came right out. I think I am going to try the permatex silicon rubber gasket sealer. These are all wonderful suggestions. Thank you again. What a great group. Candlemakers rock.
  5. My wicks are the Eco 8 and they always mushroom after hours of burning. I just trim it off before the next burn. I don't know if there is a solution to that. Any candles I have ever burned will mushroom after hours of burning.
  6. Everyone stresses that they want strong smelling candles. Are you able to get good scent throw with 1 oz. ? And is there a specific brand of fragrance oils that you feel are stronger and more concentrated than another?
  7. I know this is probably a stupid question, but what search tool are you referring to?
  8. O.k. I want to know what you all feel is the best amount of fragrance oil to use per pound and why? I really appreciate all your help. Elizabeth
  9. Are the cotton wicks you are using the Eco brand? I am recently having some issues with them. Or I should say I am having some issues with candles not wanting to burn and I am thinking it is the wicks.
  10. I have more problems with glass adhesion or "wet spots" in the winter time, do you have any suggestions to help this issue?
  11. I am having the exact same problem you are having. These are scents I have been using for 2 years and never a problem until now. I haven't changed anything, supplies or method. It is very scary and frustrating when you don't know if someone has gotten one of these candles and just doesn't want to say anything and then never buy from you again. I don't know about all of you, but I need all the customers I can get. I use Eco 8 wicks. I am wondering if they have put out a bad batch. And if so, do you buy from another supplier and hope they are different. Do they all come from a company called "Eco." How does that work.
  12. The 2 scents that I am suddenly having problems with them burning properly are both from Candle Science. One is the Antique Sandalwood and the other is their Cinnamon Stick. I can't help but think I have gotten some bad wicks and don't know what I should do. Do I order more of the same Eco 8 wicks from Candle Science or would it help to try and order them from another supplier, or could it be that Eco has changed the way they are making the wicks? I have been making candles for 2 years and have made both of these fragrances all of this time and now all of a sudden they won't burn. So frustrating. I definitely don't want to lose customers over this. And I have not changed anything.
  13. the widest part of the jar is 3" in diameter. I also would like to know your suggestion for how much fragrance oil to use per pound. I have heard different recommendations. What do you find works best? Is it true that if you use too much oil you actually smell the fragrance less? And what wicks do you like best?
  14. Thank you everyone. I have been doing it with the straw instead of a pen and then I use a butter knife to push the wick tab down all the way around and I use a big blob of glue so it oozes out the sides. They mostly stick but sometimes they don't. It must be these glue sticks. We haven't had them that long. I appreciate how helpful everyone is. Elizabeth
  15. I use a combo of 4627 and 6006 and I use Candlescience, Lonestar.
  16. I haven't changed anything I am doing and suddenly my candles are wanting to snuff themselves out. I am suspecting that it may be a problem with the wicks. I use Eco 8's. Is anyone having problems with them or can you suggest a really good brand of wicks? Thank you, Elizabeth
  17. Is there any kind of additive that will make the scent last longer in the Melts? Thank you, Elizabeth
  18. Is there anything you can add to tarts to make the scent last longer? Thank you for your help. Elizabeth
  19. I was just wondering who WSP and NG are? I don't recognize them from the abbreviations. Thank you, Elizabeth
  20. What is a 62-52-18? Is that a wick or what? And if so what brand of wick is that? Thank you, Elizabeth
  21. I use a hot glue gun to stick my wicks in my jars, and I never used to have any problems, but now when you are burning my candles and you get close to the bottom of the candle the wick floats across the bottom of the jar. What is the best wicking method. By the way I preheat my jars in an oven before pouring if that makes any difference. Thank you in advance for your help. Elizabeth
  22. Does anyone know where I can find a fragrance oil that smells like Circle E's Bird of Paradise? I have more requests for that fragrance than any other. Thank you in advance for your help. Elizabeth
