  1. That is all very helpful. I really didn't see how the 6006 would release from the clamshells, but she is supposed to e-mail me back tomorrow as she had made some clamshells with that wax and would let me know if they released from the mold. She said the 464 frosts and there is something added to the 444 so it doesn't. Also she said the 444 can hold more scent oil. She also said the 464 tends to crumble when you take it out of the clamshells and the 444 doesn't. I am completely confused and on information overload, but it will all work itself out. I am going to start the testing of all the different wax mixes I made up on Sunday. I can't wait to try the Candlesource wax.
  2. I just talked to customer service at Candle Science and Heather suggested trying either IGI 6006 or GB 444. I was curious if anyone had tried either of these. I am curious if the 6006 releases from the clamshells, and I am also curious if the 444 makes pretty tarts with no frosting? I will be a full on expert about tart wax when this "research and development" phase is over with hee hee.
  3. How frustrating. I am not going to test every scent I make, so what to do.
  4. Does one have better scent throw?
  5. What ratio do you mix the 2 waxes, 50/50?
  6. I appreciate all the suggested mixtures. My one problem with that wax is that it is so dang hard. Not nearly as easy to use. But I would be willing if it was really good. Thank you.
  7. Well that is very encouraging. I just received my slab yesterday (the Candle Source Wax) and I have to work tomorrow, but me and my husband are going to test the Candle Source Wax, the 4794 with 4627 and the ecosoya with 4627 this weekend. I am going to heat to the 185 that you all recommended and wait about 4 days to test and will let you all know what I thought worked out the best. I will do them all in the same scent so it will be a true test. I will be sick of that scent at the end of this little science project, but that just goes with the territory. hee hee
  8. Well I appreciate so much all of the help I have received. I am going into mad scientist mode this weekend. I will let you guys know my results. Thanks again. Elizabeth
  9. Great. I will try it again. I am probably just not getting it hot enough. I really love the ease of use of the Ecosoya and the Ky and I love the creamy finish. I hope I can work with one of them. Thank you, Elizabeth
  10. So in general do you guys feel that you get a good long scent throw with soy or is paraffin the direction I should go?
  11. Cindy, Which supplier is MI? And as far as your tarts not coming out of the molds. Are they clamshells or a different type of tart mold?
  12. Was it poor scent throw that was the reason it did not work for you.
  13. Ravens, I am going to try several combinations of waxes this weekend. I have a slab of the Candle Source wax on its way. I noticed another candle maker on this post said she was having trouble with that wax releasing from the clamshell. Do you have any suggestions? And I am definitely going to heat the wax hotter. Thank you so much for your help.
  14. Definitely could be part of the problem, but I think something has changed with the KY Parasoy wax. It used to have great scent throw and recently just not the same. I am thinking I need to go to more paraffin as it seems the consensus is that Paraffin wax has better scent throw. What do you think?
  15. I have become unhappy with the KY Parasoy Votive and Tart wax. I am not getting the same scent throw from my tarts for as long anymore. Is that the problem you are having?
  16. I am feeling somewhat better this morning, because I had started the 1 oz of wax at 5 PM and at 11 PM when my son came home, he said he smelled it and then this morning I moved the warmer into my kitchen and was outside for a while and when I came in I could smell it, but I would still like it to be stronger. Thank you.
  17. I am interested in trying the Candle Source wax and I will do some experimenting this weekend with the temperature being hotter and I may add some of my container paraffin wax to the Ky and the Ecosoya and see what happens. Thank you so much.
  18. I have recently purchased a small amount of the Ecosoya PB and still not much more than a couple of hours of good strong scent throw. This is so weird. All I can figure is the temperature of the wax. I must need to heat the wax hotter. I am actually probably adding my scent at about 165 and pouring at around 150, so not that different than you. I need to move my warmer to a different location and see if that makes any difference. I am so frustrated, because they were great and now they are not. Maybe if I am lucky it is just my smeller.
  19. Sorry that last reply I just posted was meant to have "Always Wondering's" quote in it. I screwed that up. Thanks for all of your help.
  20. I have noticed from some of your other posts that you use paraffin wax rather than soy. Is that for scent throw? Is there any other reason you prefer paraffin to soy. A friend gave me a few cubes of Scentsy to compare to mine this evening and I haven't tried them yet, but will tomorrow. One thing I did notice is they look to be paraffin wax. They don't have the creamy look of soy. I have been told they last a long time. Maybe it is time for me to make the switch.
  21. What size ounce wise is your tarts that throw for 8 - 10 hours. I will definitely try increasing my temperature and go up a bit on my oil. I sure hope that helps.
  22. I will definitely try heating the wax higher even though that is not what KY recommends. Maybe that will help. I am thinking maybe I need to change to a wax combo that has more paraffin. The KY used to be so strong people would say it was too strong, and we haven't changed anything we are doing. It makes me wonder if something has changed with that wax. Also, they are now further away from me and much higher freight charges.
  23. I just can't get over the fact that 1oz. of wax is throwing for 2 days. I always let mine cure for 4-5 days. I mean I put 2 cubes in around 5 pm today. It is now 11:30 and I can still smell it, but not nearly as strong. Do I need to add more paraffin wax do you think. Does the soy just not throw as well?
  24. I use mostly use Candle Science, Ky and Lone Star. All the oils seem to work well in candles.
  25. I use Ky Parasoy Votive Tart Wax and .70 oz. of good fo to 8 oz. of wax. I heat the wax to the recommended 165 degrees and pour at the recommended 155 degrees. And I can put 2 cubes from a 6 unit 3 oz. clamshell and the scent throw is very strong at first and then fades away within a couple of hours. I am reading that that amount of wax should throw strong scent for 8 - 10 hours. My jaw dropped. I can't imagine what I am doing wrong. I assume using the wrong wax. Please, can you help me. I am not sure what direction to go. Thank you in advance for your help. (P.S. I am testing in a Candle Warmers unit with a 25 watt bulb.)
