  1. How big is the palm pillar. I tried #3 it tunneled and drownd and #6 ate the entire candle. Nice glow but bou does it look ugly. For a feathered unscented 3" pillar what do you suggest and how did you come to this con clusion? Also is the shell left behind large? I having access to material would help. But we have no candle stores here in Michigan.
  2. Since square braids seems to fail in one way or another what are they good for? Just for beeswax, even there it smokes.
  3. These are old wicks,so I guess I should not be surprised.
  4. Square wicks are evil, they smoke no matter the size. Even in beeswax. Man I regret buying those. So far ply an eco work best.
  5. Also any wick that clears the sides if glass is bound to heat the glass. Sometimes its hot to pick up sometimes not. I hate hang up on the side glass jars.candlewic ply wics are also treated with an anti corossive treatment also so that's why they worked for palm. Sorry there is like 2 topics here. Btw eco 1 bare clears the jar but it any thing less I'll get tunneling.
  6. I'm not a fan of CD wicks I had cd14 totally disitegrate palm 3" trying rrd. The ply 45 works best for me for the 3" palms I should just stuck with it not trying to tweak something that works for me.
  7. In my 8oz jar that is about 2.5" at the neck and 2" at the base. Eco 1 works sort of. But seeing as. Have a roll of eco 2 and the jar gets a bit hot, but how hot is too hot?
  8. If even properly wicked candle.is some soot to be expected?
  9. Double wick that's the best I cab gicpve I had a libbey jar(s) rgart were even smaller and no one wick except the largest paper could clean the jat. The paper shrooms all the time. But your jar is much wider than my 4" in the middle 3" opening. Might have to double wiv close together to brevent the jar from heating up. My 2 cents.
  10. What duration should be the Max that you burn a palm pillar before giving it a break 3 hours is what I heard but is there even a time? I know jar candles you should since the glass will get hot. You let it cool down for 30 min and re light but do palm pillars have something like this too.
  11. I usually pour no more than 3 candles at any given day. So the presto pot not really a NEED.
  12. I get great throw from ECO wicks I use condlewic's 70% soy 125, and 30% 4144 parafin. It works great.
  13. How quickly do these black spots show on these pots. Teflon is notoriously toxic and burning it in a candle does not sound like fun.
  14. Actually you guys have inspired me to return mine. I don't want to filter the wax. I can just use my stainless double boiler.
  15. I just got one I do very small loads so if the flaking bothers me I'll toss the pot.
  16. On eBay I see them for about 80$ are they worth it. I do not prodoc candles but can make a lot in one day.
  17. I can vouche for the cracking part even at 20% my candles all cracked, plus it adds a sweet smell to the wax
  18. I mix my own. Just am that way. I test all types of mixes. I use up to 3 waxes at a time, but that's just me. I'm weird.
  19. Where can you get droppers for color. I can't find any place that sells them.
  20. Wohooo this is the stuff me and Stella have been discussing for weeks. For me 45 ply works also, but I too think LX and CD is the way to go. I never tried eco but the jumps in eco do suck. Stella knows her stuff! I too will go to CD wicks. But I may do LX. I will see. Sometimes I make the candles in such a ay that no shell is left, its bright and the candle looks ugly when burned.
