  1. I figured. It is way overloaded on f/o 11%.. overkill I know. The next candle I have is at 7%. Its 70 soy 30 parraffin. Not 30% beeswax like this one.
  2. I'm thinking one to two sizes down. I will try a curlying wick like lx I still have some left. I do like the paper core though. The jar is almost at the bottom and I can touch it without issue. The picnmay have made it look bigger than it actually is. Paper core is made to be used in jars last time I looked so i will just wick down. The throw is great. I guess I could try CD wick too. This is the frustrating part! Don't straight wicks usual get shrooms? Suck as zink?
  3. Paper core wick and ultra heavy fo,. Soy 125 at 70% bees wax at 30% fo at 10-11%. Smells great no soot just have to trim the wick once in a while. But it will work under light load to I just made calculation error. But it smells great.
  4. I bought black cherry scent fron CS. The flash point is 109 deg f. How the heck am I going to agg this in at below flash point.
  5. Excellent now for a follow up. I have CS blach chary scent but it has flash point of only 109
  6. My candles burn for about 3 hours before I get a shroom. I have Amazing ht. The jar is about 8 oz and the flame is about 3/4 " no soot. But it seems the fo fades as I burn it. Any one know why this maybe happening.wax is 30% bee wax 70% soy 125
  7. Top pic CD-16 Mid is a 45ply Last is #6 which is a very wax consuming wick burns melts the entire shell
  8. The wick got clogged by the granuals and it stopped wicking up fresh wax. I think here we have two different ways that we were burning palm. Stella made them to leave a nice shell. Where I on the other hand like the glow, but once the flame goes low wan the shell to slowly collapse inwards. The 45 ply wick does that in my candles but its good information to know if I ever want a shell I can use the cd12. Stella is a great resourse of info and I for one thank this person for helping out so much.
  9. I can't guess why my results differ from yours. The wicks I use consume the shell as they go down. I like that part, I do not want the shell to be totally intacked once I'm finished burning. The shell for me is no less than 1/8 of an inch. I do not think I'm burning them wrong. No soot or smoke ever. But a nice warm glow. Could pouring it at 190 and only heating to 195 cause problems? The candle is so opaque that I can't see anything with the CD wick. How many drops of dye do yo use? Anyone ever try cotton core? Now I only add one tablespoon of staric. I will try some other combos.
  10. My sample pack was CD 6,8,10,16,18,20. Mu candles may have too much dye. Also my double boiler can only do 195° Max. So i our then. I love the ceystals.
  11. I have one burning now. MIght as well im awake so why not. its CD 16 assembly the flame is so faint. Tiny. It will drown with in 1 hour. Also I would like to mention that you burn the pillars in a different way than I do. Mine slowly consumes the shell. That might be the entire issue. When I got a CD picked. I will test again. To me the CD look just like ply, just more rigid. I will also try #4. Are there scents better than others for straight palm none I ever made gave any scent...I will have to pay attention to flash point. Also my double boiler never gets the wax passed 195° I don't know if that is an issue as well. I got 50 lbs shipping in so lots of practice! I very much relate this to bonsai everyone has something to say but n the end you have to choose. I did get good tips even if the wicks gave me issues. I will lay off the dye. Perhaps I poue too hot, but I like the crystal shapes.
  12. I have cd16 I will use it but if it fails I will find you and throw it at you:shocked2: The wick not the candle. I think I use too much dye so I will try that and I know the wick I want if all fails.
  13. I know a 3x6 pillar needs 480 g of wax so i guess you can check your math there. Just figure the volume and bang! I dubt it works. There is lots of air in the wax pellets. Weight is the best way as you figure f/o the same way.
  14. because I told them about the epic failures of rrd htp among others. So we got on the topic of can CD and the like. He/she (this was off record) Told me they were symilar to ply just have a firm thread through them and an acid treatment. They stated to give them another shot. I was instructed to compare the size then use the CD of similar size. He/she stated that if the pillars work with 45ply and #5 sq why look for anything else. But they stated stabilo rrd and all that I should try for containers. I just started the container thing but I figured I would tweak the pillars. Now I know there was no point. As for f/o the load is 6% so its faint unless you use very powerful oils no one will notice it.
  15. I'm weird that way. I have major hang ups about this type of stuff. You have to get 500 at a time correct? . My next order will contain 170mp wax I will use for coating the wick. But I tried htp wicks in so and rrd both were assemplies all shroomed no matter what size I used. I have heard people say that shrooming can't be stopped. Sorry I flew into a rant sometimes the pain medication I need to take makes my mind very clouded.
  16. My pillars do not glow any where near that..the pic of course might be misleading a bit I get 1/4" shell or less with the 45 ply. I will keep testing on shorter candles and see what happens. Wow this is frustrating.
  17. @ Stella The flame shrinks and shrinks till it goes out. I have not tried the cotton cores but added tot the list of wicks can be rrd and lx. I get the wick raw no coating perhaps this is the cause?
  18. Before everyone bitch slaps me I report what I see . I tried the damn wick it failed OK. I don't need to do it for 5, 10 or 150 years to know that. I don't know why it failed. 45 ply is the only one that gets the results I want. Perhaps its the wax I don't know. The label for this column is just a title why is everyone so pissed. I observe and write. I have a log of how all wicks failed, I now have a crapload of wick that lucky for me people are willing to buy from eBay. Not to put scent in a pilar is not a *&%+-*& crime so back the dogs off. I want to make an unscented pillar because its non of your *&&-&%& business. I hate scented pillars. So do people I give these too. I was hoping was a miracle wick for this wax but it also failed to my great disappointment I really wanted it to work.
  19. What the hell am I doing wrong. I use the same wick for the 3 " and all I get is a thick shell so thick you cannot see the glow. I mean I pour at 200. The only wicks that burn with any good results are 45pl CD wicks look the same and are more stable so I will see if i can get it to work that way. All the can wicks drowned. I did not try 20. I did do a 20% soy mix and it came out really neat. But that's a side from the wicking issue. Everyone said they use this wick or that wick but they don't work for me, what the hell!!! I don't mind the tunneling but I like seeing the glow as the flame drops into the candle.
  20. I know how the charts are done, I just use them as referance, it works for me. CSN failed harriby in my pillars, I will try size 20 next. It might be the environment or wax I have. I only report what I see. And right now the csn are all drowning in 3" pillars. Like I stated before I have done test burn with Lx,htp,CD,CD and finally square braid. All other than the square failed horribly. I do not know why:confused: I did not try eco, but right now I don't think it will do much good. I will try cotton. Nice and hot. I have a desk top full of failed candles.
  21. If i added 125mp soy to starbust palm at say 10% soy would the starburst pattern remain:laugh2: I would use this for pillars. As a Far as wicks go my next wick is csn 20 we will see if that sinks or swims. The 16 is drowding in the pillar. Will need to replace or re melt. But 10 % soy would help the burn. So i would just like to know if anyone has done it.
