  1. You make the hurricane first and let it cool then you press the flowers on. On these I used spray adhesive but I think I will go back to using tacky wax or maybe I will try just glue. The spray adhesive makes everything stick on the hurricane (dirt, dust, cat hair, etc) I am still experimenting with these to see what gives me the best results.
  2. That looks really good. I like the 3D look
  3. Thanks everybody for the replies. Now I just wish I had a lot more time to really practice, practice, practice on these. Gave another one to my Mother for her birthday (not in the picture) and she loved it.
  4. Here are a few I made. Man these things are so time consuming. Again thanks to Donita for all the help.
  5. Hey Bev, Try an Eco-4. I have noticed if I wick too big then the scent throw is not good, guess it is burning the FO off too quickly. Eco-4's are working good in the jj's. Also, I have had a couple of FO's that did not throw very well so I forgot about them and then a couple of weeks later I went ahead and relit and they were very strong. It does have 70% soy so I guess some need to cure like the soy. This is my first experience with working with this much soy. So far, I love this wax. Haven't been this excited in a long time.
  6. I am still testing. I had stopped making candles for a while but have always stayed on the boards. I have been testing, testing, testing (can I say that word enough). I am currently testing the Greenleaf 70/30 blend and I am loving it. I have also tested some of their oils and am very impressed. My old oils have thrown well so far too. So back to testing so I can start selling again.
  7. This scent is awesome. It is more of the green tea scent with a hint of cucumber. So fresh and clean smelling. I poured this at 1.25% per pound and poured into an 8 oz reg jj in Greenleaf 70/30 blend and let me tell you this baby scented my masterbath, masterbedroom and was drifting in the hallway. It was sitting on the far side of my masterbath also. I love it.
  8. I say, test each one. I agree and go ahead and say "I told ya so!"
  9. I have to watch my dog. He likes to eat the wax.
  10. Mine is leaving some residue on the sides. I have some pictures of some half burned if that will help. I do have some all the burned but have to empty my camera and took pictures of those and then I will post. HTH
  11. Hope someone can help. I am testing an 8 oz jelly jar right now with an Eco-4 in the GL 70/30 blend and 1.25 per pound of Green Tea & Cucumber, shavings off a green dye block. I have burned this one for 4 burns so far. 1st burn, 4 hours-slight hangup, 2nd burn 3 hours--very, very slight hangup, 3rd and 4th burns---4 hours and took about 3-1/2 hours to reach full melt pool. This is giving a strong throw too, even before it gets a full melt pool. My dilemma, the flame seems very large, the jar is not getting hot though, just warm but my melt pool is about 1 inch deep right by the wick, but is showing barely an 1/8th inch melt pool on the side of the jar. Do you think that the wick might be too big??? Or is the melt pool suppose to be real deep right by the wick. I am so confused. I don’t feel I need a bigger wick to reach a full melt pool faster. I am leaning towards the fact that the wick is too big though I am not an expert. (I am having deep pools by the wick on some of my 3 inch containers too with the Eco-10 although they do burn all the way down the jar and use the wax up yet the melt pool is really deep by the wick and then barely showing 1/8th of an inch on the outside of the jar, still flame gets big after about 2-1/2 to three hours of burn time and it has not happened to me with just this wax, it has happened like this with other waxes too. I am thinking it is more a wicking issue just trying to get the wicks right) Thanks in advance for any help from anybody that reads this post. I would post pics but I am at work right now. I am definitely going to try a smaller wick just to see but wanted some opinions too.
  12. I have tested a couple of FO's in the 12 oz salsa jars which are about 3 inches in diameter and on the two so far I am getting good melt pools with the Eco-10. One is a vanilla and one is a spicy pear. There is small hangup but it has caught up. HTH I also burn these 3-1/2 to 5 hours at a time. Yesterday I burned 6 hours.
  13. I have noticed on a couple of fo's that had a so-so throw had an Awesome throw after a week or two.
  14. Can I have a slice please. Cheesecake is my favorite. Looks real enough to eat.
  15. Yep, that is what I did. I am going to try warming it under a lamp before I dip like you said in the other post. But I did dip right after I smoothed the flowers with the hot knife. I did peel off the layers and salvaged this one. I will try again and let you know how it turns out.
  16. Hope it comes out okay. Just wanted to let you see them.
  17. Okay I will try dipping once and letting it cool on its own. I do not have any white beeswax but if I cannot get it down with the 5055. The next time I order I will get some of the 4045 EP wax from candlewic and get some beeswax. My coworkers want some of these. So gotta get them down. Thanks. I will post the one I just did on the gallery. The flower part turned out beautifully but the rest had the air pockets/bubbles in between the layers. thank you.
  18. Let us know how the HTP work for you. I have tested the HTP-93's in a couple of 8 oz jelly jars. One worked, one didn't.
  19. Forgot to put in my last post for you Tucker, that I having been working in orthopedics for 13 years. You should be feeling so much better once you recuperate from your surgery. You are in my prayers.
  20. Using the 5055 from Candlewic. I did the paintbrush thing on the flowers and the smoothed it with the hot knife (by the way, i think I have mastered that part now, i was proud of myself) then I overdipped it at 200 degrees, stuck it in the waterbath, let cool, and dipped one more time. 5055 is the only wax I have to do the overdips with.
  21. I just dipped my pressed flower orb and on the back side and sides where there are no flowers I have air bubbles. Do you know what causes the air bubbles between the layers?
