  1. You must be trying torture test #327 cause those jars are a huge pull your hair out wicking nightmare. Now that I've said that. With soy I use 2 CD 6 but the lip is the problem, not being a strait sided jar (with the curve in the neck) the heat stays inside and makes the jar hot. I've been getting a good burn with the 4627 strait no soy in a hex jar mind you (I am not brave enough to test my nerves on that jar yet). with LX 22 and a CD7. I'm still testing and leaning towards the CD's. If I were you I would start with (if you want to single wick) an LX 28 or LX 30 they have to be trimmed short. This is my "new" at this wax experience only. I do not know anything about Zinc wics. DBL wicking um maybe 2 CD 5 for a starting point. I do a v wick in a 4" cylinder straight sided jar where the tabs touch at the bottom but fan out to about 1 1/4" apart at the top. So when it burns down the flame goes in toward each other, hopefully for a cooler jar to the touch. Because I am also challenged with the curl, I burn the tip of the wick and see which way it's going to curl so I can make the curls point in at each other when I place my wick. HTH and I haven't totally blown your mind.:laugh2:Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in here.
  2. I've just started messing with the 4627 but I am mixing it with Soy. What is the diameter of your container? I'll try to help if I can.
  3. Those soaps are too cool, Good job.
  4. Have you ever wondered if the one dollar bills in your wallet were ever in a stripper's butt crack? If not, you're wondering now. Have a nice day .. :laugh2::laugh2:Georgia your crackin me up.
  5. I have teflon 2 of them and I love them. No problems.
  6. I bet it smells great cause it sure looks good.
  7. I'm in your boat :laugh2:Don't tell and I won't. Congrats and we want pics please.
  8. I think soy need to cure for a few days depending on the FO you are using. It certainly appears as though you have done your homework though and I'm sure you will find the right wick soon. Looking forword to seeing pics. When you put it in a melter that will perform different than when wicking.
  9. I would try CD 5 to start and cure for at least 4 days, but that's just me. Good luck and let us know. Oh and we love to see pics too.
  10. Where is the like button:laugh2:I love it! I need to get one.
  11. Thanks Stella, I'm not burning yet:drool: I have will power.:laugh2:NOT. I've been busy making and order for palm votives for my friend in FL, I've made 78 (for the 1st time) I made featherburst and I am hooked. Didn't have enough Starburst so I mixed em:yay: Stand by cause I see a pillar in my future. How many projects can one stand and still live to talk about it
  12. WillowBoo, thanks I really appreciate the help. I did try 1oz CO and it didn't help I thought that was alot. I think I will up the 4627 to 30%. The pink sugar 100% 4627 has been curing for 30hrs now and the jar adhesion is still perfect. I am shocked:laugh2:How long do you wait to test burn? I always wait at least 4 days or so with Soy.
  13. Update, I went back and reread some of the old posts.:tiptoe: I read a post form Candybee, It said get your soy down, get your paraffin down, and thus getting to know your waxes. Then start blending. Wise words :laugh2:So this morning, I'm up at 6:00am melting Paraffin wax 4627 only, pink sugar. They came out great:yay: I know some of you think I'm crazy :laugh2:It's February and I hate winter sooooo. Now I'm also thinkin about the shrinkage that is making my blend crack. Maybe more paraffin? and 464, I also have C3. Well the candle room is now my residence.
  14. Crack, crack, crack. well back the candle room.
  15. How did your candles burn? and the adhesion? just curious. I've got some to try.
  16. I agree, sometimes we get caught up in that "All Natural" you can say they are 100% soy if they are, but All Natural not if you use FO or Dye.
  17. You bring up some very good questions. I pour my soy at about 105 degrees (464 mix with xcel) and have very good luck with it nice smooth tops no additives. However, I am finding lately that I'm not getting good HT with some new FO that I read are killer for other people. I will be interested to see what others have to say here. I am going to be paying closer attention to wicking and lowering the point at which I add my FO. Thanks Jonsie for bringing up this thread.
  18. Wicking, are you burning off the FO with to big of a wick for your wax, Fo combo?
  19. Stella, MM I love experiments. MM keep us posted please.
  20. Thanks for saying that. I poured at roughly 125 tonight :laugh2:I'm nervous.
  21. They are 9.5oz from peak, and the wick clips I love from BCN. Lorelei, I have alot of good FO that throw well in the soy, but I don't color because of the frosting. So I got curious reading through all the old post and talked to a couple people that offered me some to try. So I thought well what could it hurt. There are alot of people out there that don't mind if it's soy, palm, or paraffin, they just want a good smelling candle. I was also told if it doesn't have great HT in the 4627 than throw out the FO:laugh2:HTH both of your questions. Iwantitgreen, thanks for the reply I think maybe I will try pouring a little cooler to see what happens. I've poured from 170 down to 150. I am used to pouring soy at 105 or so.
