  1. I bet it was delicious! I don't remember seeing the recipe myself - it's been a while since I ordered the FO - but I will have to look it up and make it sometime and put it where the dog cannot reach it ~*Sarah*~
  2. I second papermart - I searched high and low for packaging and they seemed to have one of the best deals and a wide variety of things - including candle tins at great prices!!! It took a little over a week to get their shipment but it was well worth it ~*Sarah*~
  3. Trudi - Oh my goodness! Your dog is certaintly is a lucky dog must have much more lives than a cat Jack has not yet jumped out of a moving vehicle but he has certaintly eaten a good portion of things over the course of the last three years - though he has slowed down a bit (Thank Goodness) MM - I know they do seem to love to eat poo- I was surprised it wasn't touched- well not entirly surprised the pumkin crunch cake does smell good enough to eat ~*Sarah*~
  4. Though I have not actually smelt this fragrance - the reviews I read said that the citrus in the fragrance is a bit stronger then the florals. In this I came up with a few suggestions - taking the thesaurus and finding other words for seduction... Citrus Allure Citrus Enticment Zesty Blossoms Searching for drinks made with Kiwi and Limes there is a brazilian drink which I personally haven't heard of called: Caipirnha (ie; Caipirnha Blossom) Though my guess is people would want to know what that was and how to pronouciate it hth and I will be interested in seeing what others may have named this scent that actually have smelt it before ~*Sarah*~ Also I saw this really cool tutorial (sorry cannot remember where now, or exsactly how..but maybe you can find it) on how to make Tie-dye candles with liquid colouring...possibly using two colours may help...green and orange seem to be a trend right now - ** if it does seem to have more of a floral to it - I just thought (after I stepped away from the computer) that you may be able to name it "Girls Night Out" that seems to be a popular thing right now and might sell well as far as marketing goes
  5. I made three different scent batches of Aroma beads and made the ornies out of them. I had them in a bag so I could bring them into work tonight and put the ribbon in them - when I woke up from my nap I heard my dog Jack (a lab) run down the stairs with a zip lock bag in his mouth- - Luckily I recovered them all and it appears that he didn't actually get any of them out of the baggies or eat any of them (thank goodness) but I can conclude that Pumpkin Crunch Cake was a favourite of his and then Monkey Farts - but didn't touch the Reindeer Poo ones at all ~*Sarah*~
  6. And yet another need for another warning label huh?? There ought to be a little book of warnings to include everything and everything that anyone could ever do. Its amazing what people come up with. I read in a coffee house news article about this woman who put her RV on cruise control and got up and made a sandwhich and crashed - she sued the company for failing to explain that cruise control was not an automatic pilot device--- and won. Now theyh have to explain that in all vehicles that have cruise control. Hope it turns out fine ~*Sarah*~
  7. I went with Monkey Business for mine - since they were sold at a bake sale - I also contemplated Just Monkeyin' around I did like the review on the monkey farts and now that she has said that - she is right - our last Monkey Farts scent we got is more sweet- but im not sure where that one originated from since I got it off Ebay - ~*Sarah*~
  8. Love the website and Love the Man-dles my boyfriend got a kick out of them ~*Sarah*~
  9. Very cute! I love the ribbon tied around the jars with the pumkin hooking them together Cannot wait to see your Christmas ones ~*Sarah*~
  10. NG Pumpkin Crunch Cake NG Autumn Harvest NG Hot Fresh Toddy (They sent me an aroma bud with this on it - and I just want to chill out in my foyer) NG Christmas Memories These are at least new for us ... I haven't been making candles more than a year so im sure most of them are oldies (but goodies) ~*Sarah*~
  11. I just made several batches of Monkey Farts with NG *yummalicious* This scent is DH's favourite!
  12. They are wicked cute!!! Great Job
  13. I got my clear labels from roteck.com and found them to be very reasonable along with them printing them out for me and everything Plus they have free shipping on orders 25.00 or more. ~*Sarah*~
  14. Those are Beautiful!! I am going to have to find you on Etsy later ~*Sarah*~
  15. I realize its been a while since this thread was started but I used Roteck for my most recent batch of candles and I LOVE the labels- You cannot get custom labels much cheeper then this with minimum orders and such - I even had a few sheets of labels made with the poem that goes with NG's "Reindeer Poo" FO and applied them to those jars ~*Sarah*~
  16. Okay this is fun! First off I never knew so much about tamanu oil- but I found tons of info while brainstorming and its amazing stuff!! Your lotions must be wonderful That being said - I ran with the tamanu idea and found that it comes from trees which are polynisian and thought that you could find a word in polynesian to use as your company name or to incoperate it.. they have some pretty words I am almost nearing my shift at work and am running out of time to dig around but I found a website with Mäori words ; http://www.edesignz.co.nz/dictionary/Nga_Whakapapa_Kupu.htm even better! http://www.wintec.ac.nz/maori/language/hundredwords.aspx not sure if thats the right culture or not for the tamanu trees but some good words in the site..and even a simple phrase can sound both fancy and tropical Happy Hunting ~*Sarah*~
  17. Wow! I am sure by now you have this resolved (for the time being) It certaintly triggered me about our Insurance woes a year or so ago. It was our home owners insurance and they sent us a letter 2 months after buying our house saying that we had to fix X,Y and Z - so we fixed X, Y and Z and they sent us another letter 2 months afterwards saying that we still had to fix them...This went on past winter (we had to explain that the fixings they wanted could not be done in Maine in winter)..and into spring... They sent us a cancelation notice and said we had not complied- I called them to see what we hadn't complied with - as we had fixed things that we didn't even know had to be fixed and they were complaining that there were cracks in window frames (which were granite) - I told them to send me pictures of the things they wanted fixed- they sent the pictures and after furthur research into it - discovered they were talking about the other side of the house (we live in a Duplex) they told me to write them a letter stating that I live in a duplex and we are not responsible for the other half and also to prove to them that the window trimmings were granite and not other material..I just dropped them and got new insurance and haven't had any issues since! The lesson for me on this one - and I think some others may have suggested it too - is too always ask for pictures first and then fix things afterwards- and that some insurance companies are a lot more nosy then others. *~sarah*~
  18. I used NG 100% soy wax for both my candles and my clamshell tarts the last batch I made. I didn't even think about needing any other type of wax until later (oops) When I openend up the package and broke them apart, it was fortuently okay. They are a bit crumbly and don't break apart perfectly but - the end result is they melt and smell beautifully for hours on end In the picture below you can see how they broke apart.. ~* Sarah~*
  19. I have seen those christmas tree lights before! Forgot all about them - but they are cute! I had a potpourri jar with the lights in it and was worried about it catching on fire initially but it never did and I left it on for hours and hours - sometimes overnight. It made my house smell so good and they are nice and coizee. Instead of the dollie on the top of the Jar the person who made it tied a ribbon around the neck of the jar, with a wooden star glued onto the ribbon. The ribbon also acted as a way to keep the wire into place and the top was left openend. ~*Sarah~*
  20. I started making candles for christmas last year and didn't know the first thing about it but grew to love it. When it came time for fundraising for our HOA I offered to make candles for the bake sale and they were a huge hit. Now I am in charge of candle making for the association and seem to learn somthing new around every corner. I am still learning the science of candle making - I just recently learned that pouring at lower tempertures can be beneficial- and now I realize that I need at least a few more pouring pots in order to run smoothly and that my Kitchen needs some soft cushiony floor matts to boot - because all that running around is hard on the feet On the business side of what I have learned is to be fearless and confident while selling your products. Since I donate 40% of the profits to the association I initally had to sell the candles for more then I thought people would buy them for. I was glad to find out that I was wrong and people will buy them for the asking price. When I initally started out I sold them in canning jars and I saw people reason the price out - but when I switched to Hexagon jars and improved the labels I find people buy without hesitation. I know I have much more to learn - but with every batch I learn more and more and more... One thing I would like to learn is how to narrow down my product lines to carry only a few scents- With so many scents out there how do you choose just a few?? *~ Sarah ~*
  21. I have just started making candles (since christmas last year) and ordered from Natures Garden the last batch I made. They smell sooooooo much more CT and HT then the last batch of scents I recieved, though im not sure if it was the fo that made the difference or the wax, but I have been melting an "Apple Orchard" tart in my tart warmer for a few days and it smells up my entire house Abosutly wonderful and I love that they give a discount on shipping and have good deals on bundles of FO's. ~* Sarah *~
