  1. Hello, I just saw some beautiful candles and the maker used a round jar about 3" high x 2 1/2" wide. Their candles were double wicked and I was wondering why they would double wick a small jar like that? Does it increase the scent throw or result in a better burn? I am asking since my understanding was that you would only double wick if you had a bigger and wider jar... If someone has any knowledge of this I would be so grateful for an answer! Many Thanks! milla
  2. hello all, would anyone know who the most inexpensive seller of this wax is? i am researching various companies and would love some input. many thanks! milla
  3. Hi Everyone, I recently went to a trade gift show and looked at an endless number of candle brands. One thing that made me very curious was where I could find bubble glass jars. Most of them I believe are very Mexico/Latin American inspired and they had them in all different colors. The glass was very thick and sturdy and the over all look was just beautiful. Does anyone know where I could find glass like this? Or ANY sort of glass jar that breaks from the "normal" pattern of candle jars? I'm looking for something a bit more unique and different. Would so much appreciate a response! Many Thanks!
  4. Thank you so much to everyone for taking the time to respond to my question!
  5. I am so sorry about not showing an image, I THOUGHT it was attached but it obviously wasn't. Can you see it now? Like I said, in addition to being a beginner candle maker I am also a computer illiterate........please let me know...I will keep on trying to upload until it works !
  6. Hi everyone! Would anyone be able to give me some names on good packaging companies? Both the more expensive ones as well as the less expensive ones. I love the round boxes used by Tocca, of course I realize they would be very expensive but I would still like to look into the price ranges for something like that. If anyone could let me know I would really appreciate it! Many Thanks!
  7. hahaha! i agree dave!! learning french would be a good thing if this is the sort of money one could make:)! i'm still curious about their wicks though....i'm trying everything to get the best possible scent throw and if their secret lies in their wicks i wanna know where to find them!
  8. Hello everyone! I am a new candle maker and was recently given a candle from Diptyque as a gift. The past few months I have spent my time playing around with different wicks, waxes etc and I was surprised to see their wick, something I never saw before. Attached is a badly taken photograph, hopefully you can see, I will also try to describe it to the best of my ability. At the end of the burn I noticed they actually used TWO wicks attached to two separate plates. They were somehow braided or tied together into one, but at the end of the candle they met as two completely separate wicks. I did like the scent throw a lot and was wondering if it had anything to do with their wicking technique? Is anyone familiar with this way of wicking? Again, I am very new to candle making and my question my sound really dumb to some but I still can't help being curious since I never saw this before. Many Thanks for your time!
  9. hi fredron, thank you so much for getting back to me! i actually spent the day searching for this issue on the forum and found a lot of discussions about it. your response is still very helpful and i will be sure to try pouring at a lower temperature to see if there is a difference. someone also mentioned washing your jar with ammonia in hot water before pouring. many thanks again! milla
  10. Hello, Question number 2 of the day . I am using a soy (10%)/paraffin (90%) for my container candles and I have tried most of the wicks that are on the market. My scent throw is not bad with any of them but I am curious which wick is supposed to be best suited for this wax combination? I read somewhere that the Eco Soy would be the best (even though I am only using 10% soy) and that this wick gives the HOTTEST melt pool. Anyone having more knowledge about this? I would truly appreciate a response and thank you in advance. Milla
  11. Hello, I am having a problem with my wax adhering to the glass container jar. Even though I heat the jar and slowly add the was there are still several "air "spots. I am using a soy/paraffin blend and I always carefully following all instructions. Can't really figure out the problem and if someone would have any ideas I would so much appreciate it! Milla
  12. I am a beginner candle maker and so far I have been told to add fragrance to the melted wax in the melting pot and dissolve in it. However, I came across a site that stated that the fragrance should be LAYERED with the wax. Has anyone heard about this theory? The site stated that it is the best way to achieve the maximum fragrance throw. I would so so so much appreciate if someone could respond to this. Thank you! Milla
