  1. haha Thanks Kitn, why didn't I think of that?

Well I emailed Lotioncrafter this morning, as that's where I got my bags from, and Jen emailed back already! This is what she said:

Oh my! This is not a problem with the bag. If anything, it shows the security of the bags. Something in your formulation is gassing and producing this effect. What are you packaging in them? You need to look at your formulation and determine what chemical reactions are going on.

    Regards,

    Jen

Sooo, I'm wondering what it was exactly. I packaged milk bath soaks in mine, I'll have to dig up the recipe to see what was in it exactly.

  2. Hi! :) I agree with the others, make something you really want to use yourself, in a scent you love, and it will totally inspire you to keep learning and making!

That said, when I started out I made ... whipped shea, lip balm and lotion bars, as well as simple CP/HP soaps.

There are lots of lip balm, and lotion bar recipes floating around, and I know when I started I just wrote down a few, made little batches to try and went from there!

    Have fun! :)

  3. I finally got around to using my Getsuckered flavors, so I just wanted to share how they did! :)

I did sweeten mine, I have the Sugar Kisses sweetener from MMS.

The scent from the finished lip balms is really strong, and the flavor is great! I made Pumpkin Pie and Candy Corn for my girls, and my daughter said "I can taste the pumpkin!" lol

Big thumbs up for Get Suckered from me!

  4. Hi all :)

I'm sure this has been asked a lot before, but my searches didn't turn up much.

I'm wondering which kind of bottle to buy to package shower gel and shampoo in. I want something that can be squeezed (I don't care for the look of the malibu style). I got Boston Round PET bottles, but they are pretty hard to squeeze.

When I look at the "stiffness" ratings for the different kinds, they all say "high" (I was looking at WSP).

Any thoughts on this would be most appreciated! :)

  5. I got a sample of Frankincense from NG and I think it smells pretty good. I don't know what real frankincense smells like tho... :(

    Here's the description from NG

An oriental, woodsy fragrance arrangement which captures the true essense of real frankincense. Its aldehydic, sweet, herbaceous top notes are reminiscent of fresh incense, and are well-balanced with floral notes of lilac and real olibanum.

  6. So far I've sniffed everything (of course) and used absinthe in a small sugar scrub. I really like it, it's very unisex, a bit of anise, but more on the spicy side.

I've never had real absinthe (the drink) and this is the only absinthe fo I've ever tried.

The only one from the pack I don't care for is the sugar cookie brule, but I've never tried a sugar cookie I actually liked, they all smell like chemicals to me.

  7. I've played around with sugar in MP a few times, and I had pretty good luck with it staying scrubby. It's not super scratchy, but definitely had some scrub to it. I've used just plain white sugar, and raw sugar too. The raw sugar is a bit more scratchy tho.

I just poured sugar into the mold about 1/4 of the way then poured the warm soap on top.

Pumice is really nice too for a foot bar.

  8. I think the special is over now. I don't see the link on the NG homepage anymore.

Elf Sweat, to me, smells like cola, and candy. It has the effervescent quality to it.

I made some last Christmas, and this summer I had a friend smell it. Without telling her the name she thought it smelled Christmas-y.

eta: trishsmecca, once I get my sample pack I'll let you know what the Absinthe smells like.
