  1. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I wanted to ask everyone their thoughts on the subject. :)

I've been making soap only a short while, compared to some here.. I give it away all the time! lol I gave some to a co-worker, and he said he uses Dove or Dial usually, and what's the difference? Why buy handmade soaps?

Even tho I make the stuff, and LOVE it, I had a hard time answering him!

I told him how it's more gentle, fresh ingredients, no fillers, and such, but beyond that I was at a loss for words. lol

So tell me, when people ask you why, what do you say?

  2. I often mix up something similar to use. I don't sell it, I just make it for myself and my daughters and I only make enough to use up in one go.

I use, french green clay, charcoal, kaolin clay, ground almonds (ground until they're almost powder).. sometimes ground oatmeal, ground adzuki beans.. whatever I have on hand.

I mix it up with either honey, plain yogurt or egg yolk, until it's mask consistency. Or sometimes just water to use as a scrub.

I also usually add a drop or two of tea tree and lavender essential oils.

    It's pretty fun! :)

  3. Hi Vanessa :)

Well I usually add around 1% FO. You might want to double check the usage rates of the FO you want to use, sometimes it's much lower, or even higher than I'm expecting.

Sorry I'm not much help since you're not using percentages, but it's pretty easy to convert your recipe over to %. Makes tweaking the recipe easier too! ;)
