  1. Thank you ladies!

    Well I did it! I blocked off a few hours, got everything ready and measured out carefully.. took my time lining my shoebox, LOL and it all went great!

    I peeked once since I wrapped it up good, and it looks like it's coming along nicely. :D I'm so darn excited right now! lol

    I'm so thrilled I can't wait to unmold it now! :yay:

  2. Newbie question time. lol I'm pretty sure this has been covered, but I've been searching for the answer and haven't come up with anything yet.

    I want to try cp, and I've been gathering together supplies, I have plenty of oils already. I found lye at a hardware store. This is what it says on the jar..

    Crystals of Household 100% Lye

    Danger causes severe burns, contains Sodium Hydroxide

    Is this the right stuff??

    TIA :)

  3. Thanks for the help :)

    I got smart, and starting reading from the last page forward on the forums, and it's already helping me lots!

    I'm curious about this tho, because my shea didn't feel grainy in the first place, I will try heating it up like you suggested kimberly.

    I still get the feeling it's the beeswax pearls tho, only because I used them in a body lotion, and it felt grainy too, and there were no butters in that recipe. Hmmm.. :undecided

  4. Hi everyone! Newbie here. :D

    I tried a new recipe for body butter last night, and I'm afraid it didn't turn out well! Actually, I've never made a successful body butter! I'm starting to wonder what I'm missing! lol

    Recipe is as follows:

    2 oz. cocoa butter

    2 oz. shea butter

    2 oz. mango butter

    1 tsp. wheat germ oil

    3 tsp. apricot kernal oil

    1 tsp. beeswax pearls

    frag.

    1/4 tsp. vit e (as preservative)

    Melt everything together except FO. Heat gently at low heat for 2-3 min. Do not boil. Let cool for several hours, stir and add FO. At this stage, can be whipped or stirred more. Spoon into jar and let set.

    ~~~
    It all seemed to go fine, and set up very nicely. I went to try some this morning and it was grainy, like the beeswax pearls didn't fully incorporate. Should I try again, heating it for longer than 3 min? Or maybe a diff. wax?
    TIA! :D
