  3. I love this recipe too! Thanks Quietgirl, you rock!
  4. Thanks everyone! All excellent points! I have to agree, my Mom still buys commercial soap, even tho I give her bars all the time... every time I use the dial or whatever at her house my hands feel tight and itchy. Yuck!
  5. Thanks for your response Deena It's interesting to see what others value about handmade as well!
  6. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I wanted to ask everyone their thoughts on the subject. I've been making soap only a short while, compared to some here.. I give it away all the time! lol I gave some to a co-worker, and he said he uses Dove or Dial usually, and what's the difference? Why buy handmade soaps? Even tho I make the stuff, and LOVE it, I had a hard time answering him! I told him how it's more gentle, fresh ingredients, no fillers, and such, but beyond that I was at a loss for words. lol So tell me, when people ask you why, what do you say?
  7. Pretty confetti soap! Sadly, my soap pot is empty this weekend because... my scale died! Darn it! I'll have to live vicariously through everyone here! lol
  8. omg those look amazing!! Nice job
  9. How fun! I love it! Colorful animal prints are awesome Great job!! You're very talented!
  10. Hi Deena, You can sub. any oil you have on hand. Since the butters are so greasy, I usually use a lighter feeling oil when making something like this. Like fco, hazelnut, or jojoba. hth!
  11. I just got mountain hazelnut cafe from NG, love it!
  12. I often mix up something similar to use. I don't sell it, I just make it for myself and my daughters and I only make enough to use up in one go. I use, french green clay, charcoal, kaolin clay, ground almonds (ground until they're almost powder).. sometimes ground oatmeal, ground adzuki beans.. whatever I have on hand. I mix it up with either honey, plain yogurt or egg yolk, until it's mask consistency. Or sometimes just water to use as a scrub. I also usually add a drop or two of tea tree and lavender essential oils. It's pretty fun!
  13. Thank you! I've never ordered from them, but I'll go check it out.
  14. Maybe I've missed something while I've been searching, but does anyone know who sells a body safe Eggnog FO? Thanks!
  15. I just got Candy Cane from NG, and its really strong and perfect mix of peppermint and vanilla. Love it!
  16. Thanks number2of7 I haven't had time to try anything yet, but hopefully sometime this week I can!
  17. Thanks Kitn, I suppose I should just download a couple templates and see what works. hehe That was kinda a lame question. LOL
  18. Hi everyone! I'm horrible at figuring this kind of thing out. I got the small .5 oz shallow tins from NG, and I'm trying to figure out what size label I need to make/buy. Any help or points in the right direction would be appreciated!
  19. I'm horrible at math.. lol I use this to figure out my amounts: http://www.onlineconversion.com/percentcalc.htm
  20. Hi Vanessa Well I usually add around 1% FO. You might want to double check the usage rates of the FO you want to use, sometimes it's much lower, or even higher than I'm expecting. Sorry I'm not much help since you're not using percentages, but it's pretty easy to convert your recipe over to %. Makes tweaking the recipe easier too!
