  1. I have never tried that, but it doesn't hurt to try. I use the CBL-130 from Candlewic and it does pull away from the sides. I don't get wet spots at all...the only problem with that, is that there is space between the jar and the wax so if you heat gun the top or do a layer you have to do it before the shrinking occurs. Otherwise wax runs down the space and looks all messy. I get great results with that wax so it is never usually a problem.
  2. I'm not Luminious but the Mango Peach Salsa is amazing....you must order it. Great scent throw for me in a parasoy.
  3. I have used a few of their oils. I love them. I have used: Creme Brulee-strong and yummy Pomegranate-very good Ocean-very fresh and nice Pink Sugar- best I have tried Mango Peach Salsa-this is awesome and sells great! Amish Harvest-top seller in tarts Black Raspberry Vanilla-the best ever I hope that helps.
  4. I agree with Jill, Steve. Tarts are hot right now. Get them in to your line. I sell tons more tarts than candles, but it has increased my business greatly...I had even considered switching over to just tarts, but I like the challenge of candles. My oval portion cups far outsell the clamshells, but I think it depends on the area. Sorry to get off of the original topic.
  5. Which is best between the two? CS Carmelized Pralines or Ky Caramel Pecan Pie I think I only need one...I use a parasoy wax. Thanks!!!
  6. get the gingerbread latte...it is my favorite! and the pumpkin capp smells good oob too.
  7. no it doesn't smell like latte but I use it alone and my customers buy it up like crazy.

    Wax question

    I do 50% PB and 50% 6006 works awesome.
  9. Hi Steve! I typically don't order a huge amount myself, but I appreciate your thoughts on the jars. My customers would probably like the increased melt pool size. What do you charge for that size of candle? I use a blend as well...CBL-130 from Candlewic. I may have to try both and take a vote. I am hoping that I do not run out of anything myself. I am not good at stocking up...I only buy what I need to get by. I was thinking the wider top may offer less soot due to increased air circulation too. Islandgirl-thanks for your input on CS...that is very important to me. Do they ship pretty quickly?
  10. Thanks so much. I really appreciate your time. I figured out that I will make $ .50 more per candle even if I kept the price the same as now, so I think it will really help with the profit margin and simplify everything too. I might wait until after Christmas to make the switch, but it's coming.
  11. Thanks Candybee. That is so helpful. I was thinking the 9 oz myself. May I ask what you sell your jars for? I know they are palm so that will be different than mine, but I am just curious since I have not seen these for sale in my parts. I currently sell my 6.5 oz (8 oz) mason for $7. I am thinking I could charge $8 safely, but maybe not. I am looking to increase my profit margin...currently I pay $1.42 for my expensive but cute looking packaging. This change would lower the packaging cost to $.92 each. I think I would go with silver lids. I could also reduce labeling costs because I have been using expensive and time consuming hang tags. Once again, it's cute, but not cost effective. Labels would work great on these.
  12. and if so does anyone out there use the 9 or 12 ounce straight sided lug jars? I am thinking of getting something more economical and I was wondering which size would be prefered? I am sure they hold less in wax weight.
  13. I posted this accidentally to another thread, but I use the PB mixed with a parasoy container blend. It helps keep the tarts from being brittle and cracking up...also avoids the frosting. Still pop out just fine.

    Wax question

The PB also works well with a parasoy container wax blended with it...helps keep them from getting brittle and cracking all over. Keeps it smooth and creamy but still pops out fine. Boosts scent throw and no frosting.
  15. I hate the shipping too. Can't blame ya...but my customers would kill me if I dropped it.
  16. I don't know which one is comparable, but I use PCB from Aromahaven and it sells out everytime I pour it. Very popular, if that helps. I have never smelled anyone else's.
  17. someone on here had mentioned Mabel's Mint Cookies...not sure where that's from though. I just ordered Frosted Winter Berry from AH. That might work for another option. Not very bakery, but sweet. You could pick a cookie smell and call it Icebox Cookies.
  18. I had a customer last year that bought my KY coconut cream pie and burned it with the pumpkin souffle and she said it was great. So I guess yet another thing you can blend with pumpkin. Maybe Pumpkin Coconut?
  19. Hi Scented...thanks. I agree on the VBN, it doesn't smell like cookies. Okay, for This old House I came up with Farmhouse Pantry??? still haven't decided on color. Christmas Splendor I do want to be Christmasy...I just think the "Splendor" part is cheesy and I don't want to use the "christmas" part because I already have Country Christmas and Christmas Memories. As far as the Cozy Home goes...it smells like Apple Cinnamon so I thought maybe i should call it something similar so people realize its an apple cin scent, kwim???
  20. need cute rustic/prim names for the following: This Old House(TN)- thinking something Farmhouse...and what color? Christmas Splendor(millcreek)- something like Sleighbells or Sleighride? red? (i already have a green christmas candle, but also have many red ones) Cozy Home (millcreek)- red again? change the name to reference the apples? Vanilla Bean Noel- already have a vanilla...maybe Christmas cookies... any help is appreciated...I am on overload.
  21. caramel dip from Elements is my fave! smells mostly like caramel but a hint of juicy apple....yummy!
  22. I understand what you are saying... I don't make the products that I am refering too...I sell minerals for a company and they have an SPF rating. I explain that the titanium dioxide is a natural sunscreen and that that is what provides the SPF...I think you were misunderstanding me. I don't make my own anything except for candles and I tell people that they have magic healing powers....just kidding. I understood what you said and I am glad you posted that for the PP. Glad you clarified that.
  23. Been mixing today. I did Buttercream and Strawberry Jam for Strawberry Buttercream. Mixed CS Carmelized Pralines with CS Pumpkin Souffle for Pumpkin Praline. Mixed CS Pumpkin Souffle with CS Strudel and Spice for Pumpkin Cinnamon Strudel. Your blends always sound awesome.
