I have been making candles for years, have started a home based business selling hand poured soy container candles, soy melts and bakery tarts. Am thinking about trying making my own soaps, still researching that.

  1. Just want to update, I did receive the wicks from Midwest Candle supply. Why can't companies take the time to respond to their customer's emails? Glad I received them but I won't order again from them.
  2. Well I know I won't order again. Makes you wonder why they even keep their website up. They haven't replied to my dispute yet and they probably won't but at least I can get my money back.
  3. I was wondering how it would effect the wicks, if you try it let us know how it goes...
  4. I agree with above poster. I use Cotton wicks with Soy wax, I have found the cotton wicks burn hotter and have less mushrooming.
  5. Thanks I will check out Candlewic. EricofAZ I sent pm. I will also check out the business forum about Midwest...
  6. I was looking for a new supplier for Cotton Wicks, since KY closed I needed some immediately and could not wait for the Company that purchased their business to get them in. So I started searching on-line for a supplier. I came across Midwest Candle Supply, I wanted to check them out on this forum but it was down..so I took a chance and placed a order for cotton wicks and paid with PayPal. Well it's been over a week, so I emailed them asking if they could tell me when the order would ship..no response. I then noticed there was no phone number listed on their website just a fax number. So I finally found a phone number and called, of course it was just a answering machine so I left a message They never called me back. Did some more on-line searches and found they are listed a "F" with the BBB in Iowa. I have now filed with Paypal to get my money back. Has anyone else had bad experiences with this company? I should have seen red flags when I paid with PayPal the company name was Creative Illuminations...so that's like 3 different names for the same company. Can anyone suggest another supplier for cotton wicks I need 500 of the 62-52-18 size ?
  7. I am so bummed that KY is closing... been purchasing her KY125 for years plus all my favorite fragrance oils. Now I have to find new suppliers. Hopefully she will find a buyer. Anyone know where I can get the cotton wicks? I have been using her cotton wicks since I started. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  8. Everyone is raising their prices, guess I will have to raise mine too.
  9. I use the reddi-glow dye chips, one tip is after you have melted your wax and added your color chip, take a spoon and just drip a small amount of wax on a piece of wax paper or even just white paper it will cool quickly and you can then see what color it will be, if you want it darker add another chip and keep testing till you get the color you want. I use Soy wax and I do know it is hard to color it real dark and too much color can some times clog your wicks and effect how your candle burns.
  10. Very nice job, really like your labels. :rolleyes2
  11. Wow... beautiful candles & I love your picture
  12. Wow, always learning something new on this forum. Very interesting I have never heard of tooth soap. Now I am curious, what type of flavor does it have?
  13. As far as shipping rates go, UPS, Fed Ex and USPS all have raised their rates this year. From what I hear gas prices will be going up again like in the past so I hate to think how that will effect everything again. It sure does hurt the small businesses because then we have to increase our prices of our products to try and make a little profit.
  14. Beautiful soaps..love your color choices.
