  1. Yes, and my experience has been that they are not much help. Most of the time they just suggest another wick. I have tried them all. I am beginning to think it only happens with certain FO's. I am going to try and get all my FO's from the same candle company and see if that makes a difference. The ones I am having the most issues with I am not going to order from those companies again. My preferred company, Candlewic suggested RRD-47 nst for 3" to 4" containers, I am going to try those. Thanks so much!
  2. I have tried other wicks, but keep coming back to the zinc. Nothing else seems to stay stable in the soy wax for me. So are the wicks turning to ash on the tips because of too much FO? And what are the seepage issues you are referring to? Thank you so much for your reply.
  3. I have looked and not found an answer to my problem in past posts. Thanks
  4. I use golden wax 464 and I usually pour in a standard 16 oz. pint jar. I use different brands of FO's and I am having an issue with the ends of the wicks turning to ash and the wax is not melting completely around the jars. I use a zinc core wick, 60-44-18 What is causing this? :rolleyes2
  5. I am having problems with my wicks turning to ash on the tips and not burning all the wax in my jars. I use golden soy 444 and use regular pint jars with a 3 inch jar opening. Some burn okay, but a lot of them do not burn well. I use 6 inch 51-32-18Z and have started using the 62-52-18z hoping that would help and it has somewhat, but in some the wax does not burn from the sides of the jars. Also I pour candles in old containers for my antiques shop using old enamelware pans or tin containers. I use three or four wicks in these containers and the wax will sometimes turn slushy or the consistency of foamy soap, does anyone else have this issue with soy wax? :undecided
  6. Does anyone know where to purchase a fragrance oil called Winter Wilderness?
  7. Does anyone know what fragrance oils are used for a candle line called scentsible scents? There is one called winter wilderness that is a fantastic Christmas scent. And another called primitive gatherings. Winter wilderness is a pine scent but cleaner and more crisp with something else added to it. Primitive gatherings says it is: A wonderful combination of fruit juices and spices are kettled together to offer a warming sense of welcome. There are wonderful scents, not overpowering. Thanks so much! :rolleyes2
  8. Sorry, but no I've never found one and that's why several years ago I started to blend my soy with right around 30% parafin. I even tried adding crisco or coconut oil, but soy is just a really picky beast LOL!! My customers don't care it's a blend, they just want a good scent throw.

  9. Chris, have you used any soy that is not so picky with FO's? I am using golden soy blend 444 and it is wonderful with certain FO's but horrible with others. Thank you!

  10. I use a 60-44-18 zinc core in GW444 wax and it does mushroom after a few hours. I have found using the soy blend that I have to use more frag. oil to get a good scent in soy versus regular paraffin wax. I have tried the cotton core wicks in the GW444 wax and the wicks fall over and the mushrooming is still as bad. I have tried every wick out there and they still mushroom with this wax. The zinc has worked the best for me, but the more fragrance oil I add the problem becomes worse and the wick turns to ash and falls off and it cannot always be relighted. Also when the wick turns to ash, the wax does not burn down from the sides of the jar and the candle extinguishes itself. I have better luck with certain frag. oils than others especially with an oil that I do not have to increase the amount added to the wax to get a good throw. Has anyone used a 100% soy wax and still had this issue of mushrooming or wicks turning to ash? I wonder of it is the combination of waxes and maybe doesn't happen with 100% soy.
  11. I am using a zinc core wick in soy wax and I am having trouble with the wick turning to ash after burning awhile, then I can't relight the wick and the wax is not burning down and collects on the sides of jars. I have tested using lots of other wicks and I have not had any success with any other wicks in soy except zinc core. I am wondering since I never had this problem with paraffin wax if it is happening because I am using more fragrance oil because of the soy wax. I am using much more fragrance oil compared to what I used in paraffin wax, because my soy candles just do not smell as strong as the paraffin did. Has anyone else had this issue?
  12. I ordered from TCS and they were horrible at answering emails. I never received one reply from them. They took a week to get it to me. TCS is too much trouble to deal with. I am surprised they are still in business.
  13. I have probably poured at least a hundred or so and never had a sharp edge, use common sense and the right can opener and there will not be a sharp edge to deal with. As for smell, a can can be washed in hot soapy water and not have any residue or smell left. This does work and also I never used a can with any coating on the inside, only a tin can. They are extremely popular in areas where primitives are in demand. I live in southeastern Indiana and it has been in demand here for a long time and is more in demand now than it was even 10 years ago. I had several antiques shops and they always sold in my shops.
  14. I have used cans. I have aged the cans myself using different techniques. It is a good way to recycle if you have time, I used cans from vegetables fruit etc. I made the cans look rusty and aged. I also have used actual rusty cans. I only like the old and grungy look to go with antiques and the early primitive look.
  15. I did check theirs also, the shipping is just too high.
