  1. I have a customer who buys alot of candles wanting me to find a duplication of Swan Creek's Hazelnut candle. I don't know what it smells like to even compare mine. Maybe I just don't like Hazelnut without the coffee fragrance in it. Below is the ones I've tested in soy. TN - Vanilla Hazelnut Just ok. Peaks - Vanilla Hazelnut I didn't like this one. Candle Science - Vanilla Hazelnut I didn't like this one. Any others I should test? Thanks
  2. Very elegant looking. I have noticed brown and pink products/packaging in alot of gift shops. Great job on making the mold. I really like the heart.
  3. Beautiful! The perfect colors for Lavender soap. :smiley2:
  4. #5 & #7 Very upscale and fresh looking. Maybe fresh is not the word I am searching for as a description......but it's what came to my mind. All in all they are very nice.
  5. Coffee, peppermint, cocoa, cinnamon and nutmeg. Yummy!:rolleyes2
  6. Richard........beautiful tart. Do you use a liquid dye or chips for the feathering palm wax?
  7. Thanks RichardLOZ! My jar is 3" - So, probably the 16, 18 or 20 would be better for my jar. TheWickedWick.........Thanks, I found them. Maybe someone will have some information about a 3" jar. I won't order until next week. I will post my results after I test.
  8. I have been testing different wicks. I use soy wax in a wide mouth pint Kerr Mason Jar. I have a CD-20 wick in a cinnamon roll candle that seems ok. This oil is very heavy. This candle has been hard for me to find a wick that doesn't burn for several hours then drown out. It's one of those fragrance oils that we all have........... we love the scent but just can't seem to get a perfect burn. I wan't to order some CDN's from Just By Nature. Should I try a CDN-18? I thought that maybe a CDN-20 would be too big. Also, for oils that aren't as heavy, any thoughts on a few sizes for the wide mouth mason jar. I didn't see a sample pack on the site........so any suggestions would be great. Thanks
  9. Before I made candles I used lots of tarts. All of the tarts I used would not pop out of the electric warmer. I would just use the tart until no scent then pour out. However, I do make tarts and mine don't pop out. I never even thought it would be possible to have them just pop out without using the freezer........ I think to have them pop out would be great. But, for myself and my customers it wouldn't matter either way. All that is important is that the tarts are strong and last a long time. I learn something from this site all the time!!! Thanks
  10. Not sure if this is what you are looking for. www.finishingtouchesbyljs.com Do a search for - Terra Cotta It will show a Star and Moon Terra Cotta set. I was given the star one as a gift. It is very nice....hollow inside with a round hole in the back about 1/2" wide. It has a very small hook on top with a piece of heavy gold string.
  11. Could any of you recommend a supplier for the CDN wicks. I just read that (Just By Nature -who is closed) had a good CDN. I use soy wax and wick most of my candles with HTP 126 and 1212 that I purchase from Candle Science. Thanks
  12. I don't know alot about M&P soaps. However, I do seem to think by the way the soap looks it might just be that. I am out of the soap right now. I purchase it from a health food store. Cakaguala Skin Treatment Bar. www.aubrey-organics.com is the site. They are located in Tampa, FL. You might be right on the soap not being made in the USA. Thanks for your reply:)
  13. What a beautiful soap......very nice colors! The first one makes me think of a beach/mint type scent. I've never had Dragonfly Moon fragrance, so I don't know what it might smell like. Just curious, have you ever made a soap with Calaguala in it. I ask because I get one made by Aubrey Organics? Not really a nice scent but the texture is great. ingredients - Shea Butter, Olive Kernel Powder, White Clay Powder, Oat Powder, Calaguala Extract, Evening Primrose Oil, White Pine Bark Extract, Cade Oil, (Aubrey's Preservative - Citrus Seed Extract, Vitamins A,C,E), Bitter Almond Oil. I don't see anywhere on the box that it has Lye in it. I have never made soap......I'm a little scard of the Lye part. I hope to make a sugar scrub soon.
  14. OverSoyed...............Oh my that's funny! I wasn't expecting that picture (melting man). Glad I had not taken a drink of Coke as I was reading. TexasBrat - Hubby was being a good guy for telling you. My husband would do the same and probably put it out in the kitchen just to be silly. Well, all that matters if they smell/feel good when you shower! I just hate it when I have a beautiful soap that doesn't smell good and makes my skin feel weird.
  15. Thanks for the wax information. I have never made any votives. I will give it a try. I have only worked with soy. If I ever find an oil that is similar.........I'll let you know. If you don't mind sharing.......which wick worked for you with the 4794 for votives?
  16. nmhoneybear - Thank you for the reply! I'm glad you told me about mulberry just being the color. I was going to start ordering some mulberry to do some mixing with raspberry. Just curious..........was raspberry a big seller? I know that alot of companies do discontinue fragrances even thought they do sell well. Oh......about the wax have you ever found any combination that is similar to the votive wax? Once again, thanks for the reply! You saved me some $ on ordering mulberry scents.
  17. I was cleaning out my closet and found a box of Raspberry/Mulberry Partylite votives. They were inside of an old box and are at least 8 years old. However, they smell amazing....... Does anyone know of a company that has the dupe to this scent. It seems to have more to it than just Raspberry and Mulberry. Maybe some type of spice. I am burning this little votive and it is so strong. Wow.....the wax just burns beautiful. Could they be made with some % of a food grade paraffin in the votives. When I use to buy the larger candles I always thought the votives were much stronger. Not sure if anyone else ever thought the votives seemed to burn/throw better than the other sizes they sold in the exact same fragrance. Thanks!
  18. Wow..........You do good work! I bet your house smells so good with that big bowl burning. How many inches across is the opening of the bowl?
  19. Just found a site with some interesting candles in aluminum loaf pans and a jar with cinnamon rolls in it. www.theuglyducklingdesigns.com Click on Prim Scoop Candles for the loaf pans..........and Bakery Candles which has a cinnamon bun jar candle. I just love the look of the cinnamon bun jar candle. Ok.......you gals who make the cinnamon buns probably make jars like that. I am just guessing that I would need to use a cinnamon roll tart/melt and poke a hole in it for the wick to go through. Perhaps someone could give some advice on this. NiksWaxNWicks.........you do some awesome bowls and I'm sure you have done something with a cinnamon roll. A red apple tart/melt would look good on an apple pie scented candle with some ground cinnamon sprinkled on top.
  20. Would any of you mind sharing the brand/type of silicone you use. Oh.......and where do you purchase the silicone at? Thanks
  21. I use the Wick Stickums from MillCreek and have had very good luck with them. I do use the Kerr Mason type jars and they are a little curved on the bottom. I use the EZ Wick Setter Tool then use the flat end of a Bic ink pen to push down the wick tab. This method works great!
  22. These are great in Soy...... Keystone Candle Supply - Salty Sea Air JS - Cactus & Sea Salt FOH - Lemon Sugar (Supplier is now for sale) FOH - Bamboo Sugar Cane FOH - yuzu Has anyone found any good replacements for any of the FOH above fragrances?
  23. When I test my candles I always put them in a 7 cup Pyrex storage type container/bowl. You can get them at Walmart, Target or Kohls. You could use one of the large Pyrex measuring cups. I feel much more safe doing test burning when the candle is in the glass bowl just in case the container would shatter or crack. (I've never had that happen yet, but I do test different wicks and sometimes the jars do get hot.) Oh.....power burning. I don't like to power burn but I do test for that since I know alot of customers do. Also, when my children were little I would do this for added protection whenever I would burn a candle on a high shelf. Just in case the kids would throw something. Just felt like the bowl with the candle in it was much more stable. However, with small children always be in the same room with them and the candle at all times.
  24. Oh......sorry. Thanks for the correction. it is www.thelittleblackboxes.com I will try to edit my post. Not sure if I can/know how.
