  1. So you like? Oh great! Oh yes, that was one of the first things that came to my mind as I could see walking into the store and seeing all these little baggies opened up from people wanting to sniff them. I'm one step ahead of you BF....lol I already made up small votives for the purpose of sniffing all the scents. Thx. Suzanne.....
  2. Now that I know what kind of melts I'm making to sell and putting in tins, I just came up with another brainstorm. I have an upscale store that I think she would/might be interested in another product.....melts. Now look at this organic bag I found. I think it is just so beautiful and this store is heavy into botanical accessories and these are her colors too. What if I put the bags in a cello bag and put that cello bag inside of this adorable drawstring bag? Look pretty good? It's a 5 x7 (the only size). Trappeur....
  3. Laura here are the redone labels with net weight. I ordered them last night.
  4. Ok my cost for an 8oz tin is 1.75 - so I am selling "wholesale" for 4.00 thus making the retail 9.99 Cost for a 16oz tin is 2.50 - so I am selling "wholesale" for 6.00 thus making the retail 11.99 I know my markup might be a lot for these you all are thinking, but I know my market at Merciers and they will sell. 5. I have heart others say CS Asian Sandalwood is a good one. Trappeur.....
  6. Ok, will change it. And got my pricing done also. Thx. Suzanne.......
  7. I redid my Mercier Orchards label and named them wax melts. Then I added the weight amount on the label. Do I need to add anything else?
  8. Finally finished after futzing around for 2 days of how to make melts and what packaging to do. Here they are. A 16oz tin holds about 50 melts. The melts weigh 5 1/2oz. Cost for tin and 2 labels is $1.27 If you charge for the melts by weight what should be the WHOLESALE PRICE? So what would you think be a good RETAIL PRICE? An 8oz tin costs with 2 labels 1.00. The melts weigh 3 1/2oz. The tin holds about 35 melts. So what would be a good RETAIL PRICE On the labels I will have to add what these things are. What do you think I should name them? Wax melts? Now I could go back and change out the weight on the tins and make the 16oz hold 5 oz and the 8oz tin I could weigh out to 3oz. Trappeur.......................
  9. Yes, I know that so it was kind of hard to try to think and do it that way. Most people generally see the pink as a cancer awareness logo so in my mind I'm overlooking the colors for now and just going to keep it pink as most probably don't even know that a pink is for breast cancer like I didn't at first but could mean any cancer, so I'm ovelooking it that way. Like the owner of the orchard house she has lung liver and a couple of other types . Most people wouldn't know grey is for brain cancer and liver cancer is emerald green. Now they sell t shirts at the orchard house and all of them are pink, so see why I'm not going that way? Trappeur......
  10. I love the first one too Barbara for the exact reason you just stated. Trappeur.......
  11. I like this kraft paper look as it is rustic and so me but I think the idea of the cello bag with some rustic twine or something around the neck like a red black buffalo check or even burlap ribbon and a piece of real birchbark would be real pretty and stand out more for me. Thankyou Moonshine. Now need to find the cheapest bag and the proper bag. Trappeur.........................
  12. Hey Earth! I used to be in rescue and help out when needed but unfortunately once I rescue any, they never seem to leave here....lol This is a beautiful story I admit. Nope, not available well not for me as he is gay and taken....but he sure has the heart as mine goes out to him. His partner is a farrier and does my horses. Trappeur.....................
  13. This is the jar with the copper lid I'm using charging 12.50 wholesale
  14. He does adopt them out Laura if someone is interest and they pass his inspection and approval. Trappeur..................
  15. This is where I have been buying my tins for years and have never ever had a problem with them...lots of choices out there. Trappeur.................
  16. Cupcake foils are darling as I have used them before when pouring firestarters, but the foil definitely pulls away from the product after a while. Trappeur.............
  17. What great ideas Tall Tayle....love em. The only thing why I hesitate is because no matter what type of wax is used as I have seen in stores of packaged items in those clear baggies is that everyone always has such smear marks and they look so ratty looking after a while. With as much walk through of traffic that comes through the apple orchard account which is where these will go I wouldn't like this as I would always be repackaging as vain as I am. But I am loving that idea and could see twine, maybe burlap or some nice string around the cello bag. Now then with a piece of real birchbark and a hang tag or most likely a label on the bag, they really could be quite gorgeous. I have decided to use just 4625 for the melts and I can make an abundance of them real quickly. I could make them in my sleep! lol..........Well now that you have me thinking about this, I will take a chance and make some up like this. And as you said, the profit margin would be so much more greater for me. Could you help me and tell me where I could buy these cello bags???While your at it how about what price should I do and how much should I put in each bag??? Thanks Tall Tayle....I'll get started on them today and get labels made up too. 1. Where can I get the cello bags and what size? 2. How much in weight should go in each bag? 3. What price should I sell them for (NEED THE WHOLESALE PRICE) 4. I think I'll even do some colored ones....what do you think? Thanks! Trappeur................
  18. I have a friend in downtown Blue Ridge who has had this restaurant for years there and he has been bringing me wonderful care packages of food for me to help me out and he came the other day for a visit and as we were visiting he was looking at all the candles I had been making and asked if I would make up a line of candles for him. Of course yes so I just ordered my labels that he hasn't even seen yet and am working on his order now. It was such a hard decision to come up with what scents that I think he would love but I did. He loves all baking scents. Here is a picture of his label. Also this man is a man after my own heart. Everyday you will find him about 7:30 in the morning and 5:00 at night out in the parking lot feeding all the homeless cats that live in the woods on the side of Food Lion. You should see this. When he pulls into the parking lot, all the 20 odd cats creep out of the woods and they will all be lined up on the side of the parking lot waiting for this man to come with food. And you can actually see that these many cats know exactly when he is arriving as they know his car. So he goes into Food Lion every morning and night and spends 30.00 each time and buys only "Fancy Feast" as that is what they are used to. So he spends $420.00 a week just for Fancy Feast. If you take a walk over to the area in the woods you will also see all these little cat houses that someone from the Humane Society made for him and this guy donates the houses for the homeless cats. Also every time a new cat appears Warren either spends money out of his own pocket to get all the cats fixed or there is a woman who helps out at the Humane Society who will come out, trap any feral cat and she takes them to a vet to be fixed all free of charge. As a matter of fact the 2 kittens that I rescued this summer Warren came out to my house 2 weeks ago and picked up my 2 kittens and had them spayed for me. Even though they are not feral any more, he did for me, just because he knew I needed the help. They are now back safe and sound. I named them Orphan (the adopted one who had a broken tail in many places and only 1/2 a tail. I named them "Orphan and Annie"....lol Trappeur Trappeur..... Here is my label...I hope he likes.....well he will Warren said all the money he makes off of each candle will go to food and healthcare.
  19. A year ago I started a candle label design for my apple orchard account and now I'm finalizing what label to go with and wanted to get everyones input. My first choice is the first one. 2'nd choice is the second one. This label has now become special to me because as you know I have cancer and the owner of the orchard house has been fighting terminal cancer for years and years and goes to chemo quite regular and she is a real doll ever since she gave me my first big order for over $1,200 and ever since then she never gave me an order but a free hand to do what ever I wanted since then....can experiment with new designs, temporary limited collections and bring in as much as I can whenever I want because everything sells no matter what I make. It is truly a dream account for anyone ever wanting a business such as I have made here. It will be such a shame when I move to Maine as I won't know what to do but ship (as they always get their candles delivered by me) or I can sell my business and I sure as heck don't want to do that. Trappeur What label would you pick? Also any suggestions you can think of to make the label even better?
  20. I thought it would be interesting in knowing how long it took you to get started in business selling candles or soap/bath items. I've posted a few questions here pertaining to this subject. 1. How long did it take you after realizing you wanted to make a business out of it to actually sell wholesale or retail? Was it a good choice for you? 2. You spend lots of dollars? 3. Do you sell wholesale? 4. How do you get your business meaning how do you secure accounts? 5. Is this a full time job or do it for the fun.? Do you have a job besides this? 6. Do you do craft shows? 7. Do you sell on Etsy or Amazon? 8. Do you have employees? 9. Do you have a storefront? 10. Do you print your own labels? 11. Where do you create your products ....in the kitchen or have a certain area area in your home or separate workshop? 12. What advice can you give to someone who wants to make a business out of this? Do you do all your own testings and what is the projected time you could tell someone they could be ready to sell? Can a person really know all about this subject and expect to start up in a month or 2? What are the pros and cons? Trappeur
  21. Well after many trial and error making the single tarts is just way too time consuming. I did this batch using 75% 4625 and 25% 464. The 464 made too soft a look that would scratch very easily whether in a plastic bag or putting in a tin. I prefer to use just 4625 all by itself with nothing added also. I will be better off just making my embed melts I use for my candles and putting a bunch of them in a tin to sell as I can put 35 in a large tin so this idea bit the dust.
  22. Oh my gosh Belinda! I would love some samples but only if you let me pay for them. Let me see which ones... Trappeur
