  1. Nothing makes a color "pop" like black! Have you noticed that we pretty much like everything you do? Great ideas and quality craftsmanship. You are one heck of a Chandler! Nice Job, Top
  2. If Zinc is dangerous we better all get our wills in order LOL ( I am not making fun of your question ALWAYS better to ask!) I think you must have been reading about LEAD wicks, not ZINC.
  3. I personally like the liquid dyes from www.aaacandlesupply.com I have had very good luck with the white. I think that someone mentioned that the white is not actually a "dye".....all I know is that it works just fine.
  4. Call me boring...I just love to buy, make and burn Container Candles:) I love Dermalogica products, and have been using them for so many years..I can't imagine ever making anything better for B&B. I do make the Massage Cream we use in the Esthetics Department ( The Esthetician students said that Dermalogica's Massage Cream absorbed into the skin too readily) and have been told that Taylored Concepts is getting the base for Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizer so I will be playing with that also...we go through TONS of that at the school! I would like to learn more about and work with Emu Oil. I believe in the amazing properties Emu contributes to the skin/joints and muscles.
  5. Yabba Dabba DOOOOOOOOO....Got Mine TOO!! Waaa HOOOOO!! Everything smells SO NICE! And what a variety we have! Congratulations to us for a GREAT job everyone! A special THANK YOU to Tess also! We appreciate all your effort, Tess! I can't decide which one to burn first either....so many choices! I LOVE these things! Is everyone going to be up for a Valentines Day Swap??? This time I will do the work if everyone wants to do it. ( This might be mentioning it too early since we JUST got our goodies!) Happy Burning everyone!!! Michael
  6. Thats a shame about Michaels. They had awesome Christmas baskets this year...all 50%off...already lined in nice fabrics and a HUGE selection of sizes and prices. Maybe you could check online?
  7. Maggie....... At what temp are you adding your FO? I have learned with the wax you are using, if you add the FO at 180 you will get a better throw. I have used that exact wax, wick, similar jar and FO from AAA with fairly good results (with several of the FOs I tried there) That IS a fairly soft wax......I had "issues" with it in the beginning and wanted a better throw. I bounced around and tried many different waxes and much to my surprise did a full circle back to it....with the zinc wicks also. Keep trying....you will get it!
  8. Fragrance truely IS a personal thing. WYW Bamboo has been a great seller for me also...as has almost every WYW FO I use. They are somewhat "different" than the average run of the mill FOs.....the ones they have that are more common, like Sage and Citrus, are so much better than the other suppliers I have tried that even though they cost more, they seem to be worth it to me.I have many "fans" of their FOs. I did have some trouble getting their "Tuxedo" , and their "Tibetan Black Tea" to throw as well as all the others. As usual, your candles are absolutely beautiful to me, Top.
  9. I have never been up "close and personal" to a wax dipped critter, and to be honest, deep down, I always thought that it was probably a "stretch" that the things had much of a throw at all. It just didn't seem all that logical to me. Not sure if anyone else that makes candles has this issue, but I have noticed with my container candles that the ones with the lids maintain their cold throw MUCH better than the ones without lids that are exposed to the air/elements. I just assumed since the bears were displayed out in the open air that after a few days of being out of their bags, the scent would dissipate and not have much throw to speak of. Thanks to all you "critter abusers" out there for enlightening me. I am fairly surprised that they are that good.
  10. I am not sure what to tell you that is. I have not had that happen with that particulor wax. The only thing I can think of is maybe it wasn't mixed well enough??????? Any other ideas Guys??
  11. I do mine Brown. Exciting huh? Actually this is one of my favorite scents and has been since I was purchasing them...before I started this gig...I think from Votivo or Trapp ( can't remember ) Anyway....through lots of trial and error...I found my favorite Med Fig FO at Starrville.
  12. Greetings from Dallas......WELCOME to Candletech...Land of the free and home of the BRAVE:cool2:
  13. Tranquility Alley took me on quite the journey.....I was totally "drawn in"...what a unique shoppe. The "tramp lamps" are a really interesting unique idea that got me thinking about endless opportunities. I am assuming that there is a fabric "stiffener" of sorts that they use to make those. Way cool!
  14. Thanks for sharing the link. I have always wanted to tackle sand candles and the instructions for those seemed fairly thorough.
  15. WYW-- You would never have to use 1oz per Lb with any of their oils.
  16. In my opinion, the scent just finally gives out, or gets weaker. Could be my candle nose. The wax stays "as is" ( well I have had it get lighter in color after being on the warmer for 24/7 forever! )
  17. Welcome to the board Carey!!! Have FUN!!! Michael The Dallas Dean
