  1. Now I do! Got my new camera today! But... how do I reduce how many KB's it is. I have made it really small with paint but it is still 273 KB's
  2. This worked By the way!!!!! Excellent, EXCELLENT Pillar.
  3. I definitly prefer this way much better. I like the gut feeling. Now that I only measure the wax and FO it is less stressful! I am still careful in what I am doing, I watch my temps, keep track of the temp when I add my FOs and so on but since I have gone to my own parasoy blend, and just add 1 ounce pp (yesterday I added .95 of Cinnamon & Clove Buds) I get a much better burn. Just proves that even though we may have our formulas just the way we like them, there's always room for experimentation and improvements. Thanks Ladies & Gents! Happy Thanksgiving if I don't post again till then!
  4. I used to do my candles the mathmatic way. I subtracted the abmount of fragrance and additives from the amount of wax I was using. Being curious like I am, I decided to try it the other way. I added an ounce of FO pp, and my additives as well. And I have to say, I like this way better! My candles burn so much better for some reason. It's weird, I can't describe it. So... which way do you prefer and why?
  5. Made a "Rain" pillar for my mom's brithday at the end of the month. I used IGI 1250 and chilled the mold. No additional additives. I was wondering if anyone else has tried it? I used 1250 for my overpour on chunks all the time but have never used it for a solid pillar. I can always melt it down and change it if need be.
  6. I have an order for some C-Mas pillars for our c-mas party at WalMart and one of them is Victorian Christmas in a star pillar. Navy Blue Chunks with a non-colored overpour. I made a votive to test the HT. AWESOME. and I do have to say so, the candle is so beautiful. I wrapped a glittery ribbon around it in a spiral fashion and attatched a mini bow. I love this candle, I wish I could keep it. LOL. Just wanted to tell everyone because I'm so dang proud of it!
  7. I poured a batch of candles a couple days ago and was testing them. (Not the chunk mishap) and for some god forsaken reason the flame is flopping. I don't know how else to describe it. It's not just a flicker, it's worse. Never happened before. What's going on. *oops sorry. They are CD wicks. I just researched on here a little and some other people have said CD's always do that to them. I do not have a shroom or anything like that, just bouncing.
  8. I tossed them. Not even worth the headache.
  9. I just thought of something, do you think that if these candles do not burn right, that I could knock off some of the price, pull the wicks and offer them as wickless candles? That way I don't lose a lot of money? Just thought.
  10. OMG Believe this or not, I lit up the smallest of my doozie candles just to test the wick, nothing else. I was not expecting a HT or even a smooth flame BUT..... I am getting both! MP is growing at the normal rate, the HT is AWESOME and the flame is smooth with only a little flicker here or there due to movement in the room. Maybe I stumbled upon something.
  11. No luckily we were not affected by the flood except the fact that I work at WalMart and the store got about 3 feet of water. The clean up was horrible. I never want to do that again! But now it's raining here non-stop again and I keep saying it's going to flood. No one else thinks so. I bet I am right.
  12. I don't know if this happens with anyone else, the best HT I get is once the candle has close to a FMP. Don't get me wrong, it has HT about twenty minutes (on all my containers) but the strongest is when the majority of the wax is melted, which makes sense to me. And all my containers get their FMP within the 4 hours. I agree, I wouldn't think tealights would sufficient enough to test a HT. If anything, try a votive maybe. HTH.
  13. I have actually gotten used to it. I am a baker at WalMart and have to be work at 3am. It may be a pain to get up that early but I get off at 12pm and have pretty much the whole day to myself. I can do errands and not have to do them on my days off. Anyway... I was planning on using a 70/30 mix for me overpour as well. This is the first time I have made chunkies with a blend. I used to make them with in paraffin. Oh well, like I said, we'll see... you're right tootie, I may be pleasantly surprised. Yep, the chunks show very well. And this solves it. I am going to buy a dig. camera today because they are really pretty and I would love to show them to you all.
  14. I wish my camera was working though because they are really pretty. Some of the best I have done. Very Christmas'y!
  15. I was making peppermint (red chunks/white overpour) chunk candle and was making my 70/30 wax. Well instead of using container wax paraffin I accidently mix the overpour soy with 1239. I doubt it's going to turn out ok but we'll see. Am testing one tomorrow. This is going to suck if they don't burn. guess that's what happens when you make candles after getting up at 1:30 a.m., working a full day and dealing with family issues! LOL. I will post the results if they turn out.
  16. Toenail clipper here as well! I wait until my candles have completely cooled then clip it. That way I don't move my jars more than I have to (usually not at all) I put them in a ziploc bag (hate to waste stuff) but have yet to ever use them for something. Some day a use for them will come along, maybe.
  17. Thank ya' CandyBee! I knew I was doing the right thing. Like I said, for a second, a mili-second I doubted myself. What the heck was I thinking, LOL!
  18. For those of you who make chunk candles, mainly container ones, what wax do you use for the chunks? I don't need brands, just the type of wax. I am making peppermint chunk candles for my mom and for some reason I am re-thinking myself. I am doing a parasoy blend. But I use pillar wax in both the soy and the paraffin. 70/30 to be exact. After I melted the wax together and colored it, I began to doubt myself. I had notes once upon a time before the fire and for the life of me can't remember what make up I used. Just asking for your advice, not your formulas. LOL. Thanks. I used CB Pillar wax and 1239 together.
  19. I am still going to use them as well, I have already designed a a newsletter to explain to people that some of the oils I get have recently changed and I will allow them to "test smell" the candles to see if they still want the candles. I am sure most will understand and not care as long as throws out good and is similar.
  20. I had put it in my soy container candles and it still smells off. 3 different times to make sure it was just my nose or silly thinking. The candles I was talking about that the woman wanted was chunk paraffin candles.
  21. I think I have most bookmarked but wanted to see if there are any companies out there I don't know about. I use BitterCreek alot. Just by Nature Cierra Candles (now that they're open again) and Peak
  22. I am asking because they are about an hour and a half north of me and I would like to try some of their scents and other products. It would definitely save me on shipping!
  23. I think whatever you store them in should be airtight. I left a couple votives in a bowl one time and although they looked fine, I lit them up to test and there was not much scent throw.
  24. Oh yea. I read that some where too, never tried it though.
