  1. Where do you all get your candle labels? I have poerfected my formulas to my liking, adjusted my prices but now I need awesome labels for my candles.
  2. Yes. I don't like it. I might try to mlt in the pot first but so far, not impressed. Still thinking about going to a parasoy blend.
  3. I am using Accu10 Pure Soy from Swan's. Heated to 190. FO AT 8%. and I poured at 175. Not only that but this has never happened before. at the crest of my candles there are lines, it almost looks like a "ring" around the diameter of the candle where the wax stops. What the heck is that from. I am seriously thinking about stop using pure soy and going to a para-soy blend. People still buy para-soy candles, right? And here I thought I had the art mastered. Darn things. lol
  4. After lots of research on USA I decided to buy some from BC and try it. So...so far I am not pleased, unless I am doing something wrong. It isn't dissolving in my wax. What's going on? What's the trick to adding it to the wax?
  5. Thanks. I kind of figured that was what it meant. Just wanted to clarify.
  6. I've read in certain instructions about pillar hugging. What is it?
  7. Just a little of what I did on my two days off. The brown chunks are german chocolate/ Hazlenut and the white chunk pillar is a soy S'mores pillar. I tried to get the colors of the hershey bar, graham cracker and marshmallow. Funny thing though, I can't stand this scent. LOL.
  8. Not too sure about this one. I think I didn't stir enough after I added my color. I got scared, LOL. It is scented Emerald Pear from Peaks. Smells good. This shows both sides.
  9. Does anyone here NOT put a label on their container, but instead wrap the container with a cell bags and put a ribbon and hand tag on it? Or would that look stupid. I did one just now and it didn't look too bad.
  10. I was just going to ask this as well. Someyimes my container candles have blemishes and things I'd like to hide, some say it's just something soy does, and was wondering what I should use.
  11. I don't know if I am just being hard on myself or what but it looks funky to me. It is black cherry scented. Used 1343 this time instead of 1239 and 1250. Tell me what ya think, be honest. Oops. Where's my picx?
  12. Someone told me that when I make a paraffin-based chunk candle to use 1239 for the chunks, and 1343 as the overpour. Is this what most of you use? My soy chunk candles turned out great with a little tweaking of the recipe here and there.
  13. Do I have to use a taper or some other candle for the core or can I just wick my mold and be on my way?
  14. I was also thinking about making soy chunk containers candles. I am thinking that I could still use the Eco PB for my chunks and then use a Pure Soy for my over pour and pour very low. What do you think? Or should I use a container wax for both chunks and overpour? Also I made a S'Mores chunk candle & chunk tarts and a Baby Powder (blue for boys) container chunk candle and tart. I will post pics tomorrow if ya all want to see them.
  15. Thank you all. I appreciate the answers. That's what I was thinking. I am going to try one today, will post a picture if it turns out!
  16. I am thinking about makiing chunk soy candles and wonder if there is a certain soy wax that will show the chunks well? Thanks for all your help. If not I will go to a para-soy blend, and would like some suggestions on those as well.
  17. 4630 is not suppose to require repours. I searched some posts on here and think I know what happened because I poured an evergreen tree the same way, except that I poured it at 160* and it did not have sink holes at all. I was a dummy. So in other words, I poured French Vanilla too low. I'm off to go bang my head on the counter and try again!
  18. OK I obviously did something wrong with my candles today. I was making french vanilla. Used 4630. heated to 175, poured at 150 and the candles have HUGE sink holes in the middle along the wick. I have never had this happen before. I want to throw the candles across the room right now. I have been walking back and forth in front of them and cussing at them the last ten minutes and decided to come to you guys.
  19. OK, i was on another message board for candle making and they said this was not how they made candles. Some people that posted said that they generally just add one ounce of FO to one pound.I have been using 7% fo, wich calculates out to 1.12, and added it to 14.88. Who is correct?
  20. I use 4630 and HTPs and Eco wicks. Haven't tried J223 but someone in my class said that sometimes it was really hard to wick right. Does J223 not come in a slab?
