  1. I was wondering if anyone else here is from here. LMAO. Just playing, when I say here, I mean in Washington State. Just curious.
  2. Oh yeah, forgot to add that I also add rafia to the jar near the top and tie it. Seem to give that style of jars a country look, or at least I thought so. I could be wrong. I do fall down and hit my head a lot!!! :laugh2:LMFAO!!!!!!!! Can u tell I have had to much caffeine?
  3. Actually I am going to use this label with those jars.Looks around everyone as they gasp in sync. I'm going to try it out. Ask the custmers, even my online customers that I don't see face to face or know personally, what they think about them. I may go with a more elegant look for those jars in the future, but I have quickly come to the conclusion that I am not going to please everyone (this board is a perfect example!) And I am not going to rack my brain, or lose my hair trying. In my opinion if you are buying a candle, because of the label, you are buying it for the wrong reason. I know I know, I'm pushing my limit, but so far all of my customers (yep, every single one) have been repeat customers, and that was without the label, so I figure if I choose the wrong style, they may make a comment or turn green, but they are still going to come back for more candles. I have concentrated more on the fact that people are able to "custom" order their candles from me and I think that is one thing they think is unique. Someone can order a apple scented candle and have it purple. I assume you all do the same as well. I am lucky, I live in a small town and that seems to make it a little easier to market my candles. Maybe if I stop trying to create a label, one will just appear in my head, LOL. I also make a "business card" like magnet, which I include with people's orders so even if they lose or wreck my labels, business cards, or receipt they will still be able to have my contact info. Customers love those as well! Don't think I am mocking anyone's advice. I'm not. Just realizing, like I said, I can't please everyone.
  4. I have a logo, "Spark your senses with scent!" I just thought if I put it on the label it would be too busy, ya know?
  5. In the future I might change it to something like Sparky's Scents, or Sparky's Scent Shop, or shoppe, or something to that degree but because I have already purchased my domain name for the year I'd like to keep it while I continue to build my customer base. I thought about when I do change it something will be posted on my old site like "We have expanded" Or "New Improved Site". Something to hide the fact that I changed my mind, again, LOL. I am not even close to offering my B&B porducts so for now I hope I am safe. But thanks for your input. Sometimes I feel like I get snappy on here but then like my BF says, you're the one who asked their opinion. LOL. I am very happy with this new label. Thanks everyone!
  6. My website and other info have been worked in to my warning label on the bottom of the jar but I am thinking about changing that as well.
  7. I had a country label and friends said I should make it more "Sparky". Guess they didn't understand the whole idea behind the name of my business. I wasn't going for Sparky-y, it's just a nickname. Anyway.... so I went back to my original idea. Here's a sample of something, still got to tweak it a little. I added a few with the different scents I have.
  8. I'm not taking offense.I asked. I can shrink the size but as far as looking "ordinary" this is the only forum that has said that. I have the same pic in a thread in the general forum and most say they like it. As far as ordinary, I have been spraying glitter on them to shine them up a little. Just didn't have time to on this one. Took some candles to my work and most seem to think the glitter label added a little pizazz to the candle. As well as accented the name Sparky's Candles. The glitter also takes some of the "plain" away. The labels peel off clean so if the customers don't want them on there they can take it off. But thanks to all for their input.
  9. How's it look? This is the largest candle I sell
  10. And this is what it looks like on my largest jar.
  11. Thanks. It's very satisfying when you finally get a product you are proud of.
  12. K, here it is. Looks the same except for the website font is gone
  13. That's why I asked because my first thought was the same thing as what you just said. My dad disagreed with me and said I should offer my products at a wholesale price but require a case minimum. I told him I could do that, and take off a certain amount per candle, say, .15 (that's just an example) and that is not wholesale, it's discounted. THANK YOU... for making me right and not him.... lol. And I know, it's my business, not my dad's but I asked him for advice based on his experience as a business owner. Won't make that mistake again, LOL. Thanks Vicki.
  14. I got mine!!!! I actually took off the whole webiste font at the bottom and as like many of you... added it to my warning label. I took some jars to work to ask people what they thought of the bright, colorful label and they loved it. They also loved the fact I put the scent of the candle in black, to offset it from the actual label. I finally have labels!!!! WooHoo. I designed it from scrat using Paint Shop Pro X2. Took many hours to get it right... but it was worth it! Thanks all for your input.
  15. If/When you decide to sell your candles at wholesale how do you firgure your wholesale price. When my dad had his tool shop he said he would offer his customers a certain percentage off case amounts. So if a case of hammers was 59.99, and his profit was 45% he would offer a wholesale discount of 15% so he was still making a 30% profit. But he said people may do things different in the candle biz. Right now my candles are at a 45% profit but I may up that to 50% very shortly as I am getting busier and busier. I am not asking for you to tell me what to offer, I am just asking what your "procedure" is and sees how it compares to the idea I already have in my head. Thanks.
  16. Changing the font how? The color? The style? I thought about going with a solid red and a Verdena or Three Time Roman for the website text. Would that seem better. Or would you keep it black?
  17. When I posted my other label on here someone suggested it should be bright and "sparky". Well I have yet to find a way to make a "sparky" label other than use bright colors/ So check this out and tell me what you think. My sister also suggested spraying "Spray Glitter" lightly on the finished label. The scent of the candle would go in the blank area.
  18. I like the idea of a round label but I my my 4 oz. apothecary jar has a bulb lid. May just have to surrender to that one and put it on the jar. Thanks everyone.
  19. Does anyone here NOT put a label on their candle? I am having a hell of a time getting a label I like. Maybe I am too picky. I even had a friend who draws really well draw me up something and I didn't like it. It used to be I wanted a label because I was trying to hide wet spots/frosting but since I have gone to my own parasoy I don't get either of those that much. I thought about just making little tags (like gift tag size) with the scent on one side and my company info on another and attatching it to the candle or pillar with rafia. But then I still need to figure something out for my lotions and body butters/scrubs.
  20. Actually I do like the base just as is!!! LOL... I use it on my legs before and after I shave. the DB says my skin is "so smooth" and asks if I am waxing. LOL. So I guess that's all I needed to know. Thanks all!
  21. I know this is going to seem like a really stupid question... I almost don't want to ask. But I am just curious, I have yet to offer "aromatherapy" scents in my candles. Do you have to use the traditional scents? Is there some regulation to it? Or can I pick a scent and label it as I see fit. Such as citrus - refreshing, lavender - soothing and so on and so on. Just curious on your opinions and what u do.
  22. I do not know what I would be doing with my time if not making candles... LOL. I have been doing it for two years and it's been a hectic journey. But well worth it if you have the time and money to stick with it. Welcome to the board.
  23. The last batch I got from Peaks and I was shocked. I thought maybe it was frozen (don't laugh). It was much different than what I get from BC, (they were out at the time) but it seems to burn the same. I use my 4630 on it's own as well in my parasoy blend. I guess if I get poor burns then I'll worry.
  24. Yes. The empty area was left there so I could add the scent of the candle and anything else I wanted. Some people are saying it's not sparky enough but I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how I could make it sparky-y. A friend of mine suggested I don't use a border, and then apply glue to the edges and sprinkle with glitter but I'm not sure I like the idea (or the work) of that. The label is growing on me.
  25. Sparky's was not the name of the candle, it's the name of my business.
