  1. and you stirred and not shook? LOL I grabbed the wrong bottle one time, shook the heck out of it and..CRAP!...all foamy and white. Not exactly the look I was going for
  2. You know, when I saw a reply here I read that it was in the candle section, dumb blonde move that I hadn't seen before LOL I think you're right! We wash our jars in the dishwasher tho, so it's all good LOL Still getting used to navigating the board! Sorry if I caused confussion! :embarasse
  3. Try the Lemon with the Vanilla. I would probably do more lemon with a hint of vanilla, call it lemon meringue pie. Sometimes a cream base will tame down the citrus the lemon enough to make it creamy and people will buy it. Lemon and sage go together, or add a bit of coconut to it and go for a 'tropical' scent. TONS of things to mix with lemon! Cinnamon..hrm..thats a tough one! LOL Have anything with a nutmeg or pumpkin base to it?
  4. did you try the HP site? Most times they have a FAQ section or a troubleshooting section
  5. Cause we smell it "out of the bottle"? LOL
  6. We tried it in C3 and yuck...never again!
  7. We wash and sanitize all of our containers. I would like to think everyone does...but maybe they don't. I also spray down our work surfaces with alcohol to sanitize everything before we start working on things. Just me being anal I guess. :embarasse
  8. I have to ask, is there a reason you absolutely have to (or want to!) have two wicks in that size jar?
  9. Ok I'm a bitch about some things so I'd laugh and tell her to get bent. We spend alot of time and money testing our things and getting them just right. I don't mind the give and take method of helping someone but I darned sure wouldn't bend over backwards to show someone my (I'll say recipe for lack of a better word) while they look at it, take it all in, the whole time hiding their own in clutched hands. Nope, wouldn't happen.
  10. Has anyone had any recent dealings with SKS? We order alot of our bottles from them and the last time it took 3 WEEKS to get to us. The time before that, about 2 1/2 weeks. It wasn't around a holiday or anything and I'm reading great reviews on this company. To be honest, we are thinking of changing to another company. Anyone bought anything from them recently?
  11. We use the SFIC goatsmilk and love it. It DOES smell like alcohol and I even contacted the supplier about it. They assured me that that's how they got it, they only repackaged it to sell in smaller quantities. As far as it being soft, ours is a bit softer but we like it like that. It's much easier to manage when pouring small batches.
  12. I didn't mean to take it personally, normally I don't lol I just think this is a GREAT source for people new to making candles. I know when I started out (more years ago than I'd care to mention) I had alot of questions about things. Hell I still have questions about stuff. It's easy to get frustrated when you're new. As for the drama..I'm to new to know of any drama so I'll try to stay clear of it. That normally seems the best way to go. Back to the topic, my point was this...if you don't have a bit of disposable income, this definately isn't the business or hobby for you unless you're making things for personal or family / friends use. It's a fast track way to go broke in a hurry! Nothing compares to testing testing testing things. People can offer advice and such, but nothing beats hands on experience!
  13. I was posting it to make a point, no, we couldn't make it if it weren't for my husband working. I honestly thought coming here would be a great way to share advice and knowledge, didn't know I was going to be lashed out at. Sorry for offending anyone, it wasn't my intention. I'm guessing I should leave the board since it doesn't seem to be a friendly or welcoming place for new people. Sad, there is alot of knowledge and experience to share..or should be.
  14. My daughter and I have a small at home business. No, we're not making HUGE money yet but we make enough for us right now. I'm very fortunate, my hubby makes a little over $120,000 a year. This gives us alot of money to put toward our business to test out and experiment new scents with and even make our own products. Are we getting rich? Hells no! LOL We're loving what we do tho and have no plans to stop any time soon. We're working on opening up a store front in the future. Right now, the economy sucks too bad to make it a reality any time soon.
  15. We've had a few oils like this, one was a strawberry. It was a pita but well worth it once we figured out what was wrong. In ours, it was just so many raw materials in it that it made the oil very heavy. I'm curious to know, did it work out for you in the long run? Another tip, we pour extremely cool with our heavier oils, this gives them less time to sink to the bottom. Hope that made sense lol
  16. We order from JS alot. The vast majority of our oils comes from here. We've ordered from LS and the ones we got from them we liked as well. I have to say tho, the customer service and the super high quality of oils is what keeps us going back to JS. I also like the honesty, we use C3 so some scents just don't throw well in it. On the site, if it says excellent in soy, I know it's a good buy because it will work well.
  17. We use the Eco 14's with that diameter of jar and NOT double wicking. You could be getting your wax too hot. We also use the C3 wax and have found that we have to wick up just a bit in order to get a room-filling hot throw.
  18. I'm new here, but I can tell you from personal experience my Durango held ALOT. What was I thinking when I traded it in and bought my Mustang?!
