  1. so THATS what you mean by 'ambient temps". :tiptoe:
  2. We have about 40 pounds of C3 left and when thats gone, it's gone.
  3. I'll let you know how the eco's do in it then! I'm used to them. Zinc wicks and I have a love hate relationship..I love to hate them. The palm candles that I've seen were all colored and they had very vibrant colors and thats part of what I'm looking forward to. As for selling them or there being a market for them, I have no idea. Thats a long way, and many testers down the road. I'll have (hopefully!) beautiful candles to put around the house for a while! LOL
  4. Ok wait...we had our share of problems when we were just starting out! LOL Most of it was my fault because I was making it more complicated than it was. Some of our earliest success stories were dumb luck and I totally fess up to that! :embarasse What works well for some, doesn't work at all for others. Someone mentioned to me they pour C3 at 180...I've never ever had good luck pouring that high. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when they stated their pour temp. It's not ego, I just never have experienced anything like what you're saying. Maybe it's dumb luck again! I'm blonde, it happens!
  5. Thanks! I agree, one pour is always best for us, it's easier! lol If it's a beautiful candle that throws well tho, I won't mind doing a re-pour on it.
  6. I've always heard so many bad things about it that we've never attempted it. Keep in mind tho, we also heard horror stories about C3. It took a while but we caught on and now have a hard time working with anything else! So, if I'm reading you right, are you saying to pour hotter rather than trying to go for a cooler pour temp? I absolutely have NO experience with this wax, so I'm all ears to any and all suggestions. Dangerous statement, I know! LOL We've never colored our candles because some people like the all natural look of the C3, they think it's more "natural" or "pure". :rolleyes2 With this wax, however, I did order some dye as well. Without color in it, I'm not sure it's true beauty would shine thru. No experience with the eco's in this wax, Stella?
  7. I was thinking the same thing. Not sure how many candles we could produce in a day if we did them like that. Seriously, it's not rocket science, it's just candle making. Yeah, there's quirks with some things, but for anyone just starting out you DONT have to do all this. Just wanted to clarify.
  8. My first reaction was to lmao, then I realized you're right. :undecided LOL
  9. I ordered 10 lbs to play with last night! As to the wicks, I've worked with a few different kinds (wick testing sucks, I'm sure you can relate!) but always go back to the eco. Hoping I can make them work with the palm. Thanks for getting back to me on it!
  10. Ok, I know this is an old topic but this is what I found when I did a search LOL We're thinking about trying some of this but I'm hearing horror stories about it. We're used to C3 and 50/50 blend but really haven't delved into other waxes. Is this really as hard as people make it seem? Anyone tried this wax with an Eco wick?
  11. Yes I know, I lived on Galveston Island (in case you don't know, it's in Texas.."Gulf South") for many years. In all honesty, I've never done all the tempering or wahtnot that you're talking about. I've never had to, no matter where we've lived. Having said that, I'll add this..I may have gotten confused in the wordy reply. Sometimes keeping it simple really is best. Especially for us "noobs".
  12. We have the HP inkjet which makes beautiful lables for candles, not so great for B&B unless you print the lables and then krylon them. We're about to invest in a laser printer. We'll probably keep both printers up and running, but use the inkjet only for faxing, photocopying and candle lables.
  13. Eco 14. With C3 you may get hangups, but it should catch up.
  14. We buy oils in the pounds to test with. I figure even if I only weed out the bs places, I've saved myself money and headaches in the long run. I have to agree with you tho, lots of places people rave about and then do a search on that name, just as many people have complained about that very same company. Learn to trust your own opinion (or nose, in this case! lol) or be lead down the same path with the rest of the herd. just my .02
  15. I don't think double wicking would be an issue Dana. In all honestly, I would be afraid to double wick this jar. The glass is pretty thin on them. Good luck!!!
  16. Opinions, good and bad are always welcome. That being said, it was the name calling that I was talking about. Dangerous to ask for opinions like this, after all, who is to say I know more than anyone else here? Why would you listen to my opinion? Honestly, not trying to be a snot, but there are so many differeing opinions here on whats good, whats bad etc...you'll never get a straight answer. Test it yourself or not. SliverOfWax, don't most companies send out freebies? We get some in about every order, no matter who we order from. I thought most places were doing that now.
  17. ooo pretty! at least you know what all went into it! Thats a starting point! LOL
  18. We JUST started testing this jar, but we're having good luck with the single wick. My wax (C3), on the other hand, is being a pita right now no matter what jar i'm using.
  19. I believe it's called Just Scent. You insult more than just her business when you resort to name calling, you insult her customers intelligence by implying that they buy inferior products and therefore, their businesses must be inferior as well. The scents that I buy and use from her, work better than some of the other suppliers and so like anyone else would do, I stick to what works. Like grama said, there are alot of opinions on this board. Some I wouldn't listen to if they told me the sky was blue, but some I value. If you don't buy from her, or don't want to thats fine, she probably has more business than I'll ever see so she must be doing something right. Well, either that or we're all just as dumb as you're implying Kimberly...and we really do have inferior businesses.
  20. Everyone has differing opinions on suppliers and oils. I'm not getting into a pissing contest over who has the best / worst. I will say, that out of the oils we have from JS, there are some that I absolutely wouldn't be without: Vanilla buttercream crunch (HUGE throw in C3) Cranberry Orange Chestnuts and Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean Noel (omg this one is amazing!) Captivatingly Currant These aren't the only ones we have, but these are the ones we make sure we have lbs of on hand at all times, they're huge sellers for us.
  21. oops I said that wrong! Sorry! It doesn't lower the flashpoint, but it's lower than what you would have with Olive Oil (using that as an example). If people are using a tealight with the oils I would worry about a fp of 247.5. I know people that have let almost everything in the pot burn away to where there is very little liquid left in it. At that point, it wouldn't be hard to achieve a temp of 247 degrees. I've heard good things and bad about dpg, I've always been too afraid to use it. Thanks for the link btw, I'd lost it when my old computer crashed ages ago! lol
