  1. poured the melts/tarts today........................mail tomorrow.......
  2. I didn't even know there was a "green tea" perfume! perhaps thats what it is. I poured the blueberry muffin in wax today.........expecting good things.....cold throw is good. gonna let cure 4 days before I burn....
  3. okay I got the oils in! I have poured nothing in wax, this is just my opinion of the scents, straight out of the bottle. ... Blueberry Muffin---good green tea-----had no idea what to expect, but doesn't smell like what you drink, more like a perfume type thing? fig and melon----smells very good spiced plum----has enough of a wang i think its gonna work figgy pear-------nasty, reminds me of one i had called berry bubblegum, but some people liked it..... dark choco mint------------can see why this is strong! grapefruit-------smells good the real test is when they are in wax, then burning!
  4. I'm sorry to the rest of ya, but, I can only afford to mail to 10 testers .......
  5. okay I have pm'd my first 9. (Sharon, ecco lights, nmhoneybear, donna do,safety sue, no one special, aviator girl, jane, jenny ) tmarcusen was the 10th but I was unable to send a pm? is there another way I can contact you? okay you 10 PLEASE be brutally honest with your opinions, I will not be offended:) This is what I am looking for from you: Is it pleasant? Is it similiar to another scent? When melting..., is it strong, medium or soft scented? I am in the middle of a big group yard sale thingy, so it will probably take me a week to get it in the mail.............sorry about that, but I will get it to u asap, lord willing, I promise!
  6. Okay, I just talked to the post office and they said if I mashed it flat, the way Sharon suggested, I could do it for 0.61. If I leave it in the 2oz cup, it will be 0.78 cents. If I restrict it to a 1oz sample, I could probably get it for the 0.48 cent stamp. So I can do several, maybe 10! I will pm you all now..........
  7. any suggestions on how to mail a single tart as cheaply as possible? Once I know my cost I will know how many I can afford to mail out. Once I know that I will pm all of you that I can mail to and get addresses. Thanks to all of you , I am excited to get your opinions!
  8. My mom is an awesome cook. She raised 7 kids and cooked from scratch all of our meals. We once had a scent called Autumn Spice which she liked. When we ran out, she decided to try her hand at "creating a similiar scent. She came up with something we call "spicy citrus" which has its own thing going on. Alot of our friends and family now ask for it. I was wondering if a few of you would like to try it out in a melt/tart?. Sorry but I cant afford to mail candles. I would like your opinion on it and wether or not you have ever smelled something close to it. I am not sure how many I can afford to mail out, but will try to do several. Note: Someone named Sharon in KY once sent me some cd wicks to try for free, so I will set one aside for her, even it she is the last to respond....... Thanky Thanky
  9. okay i have ordered some oils............fig and melon, dark choco mint, redwood and cedar, green tea, grapefruit, blueberry muffin, spicy plum, oak moss.........waiting:cheesy2:
  10. thanks all of you for your opinions. I am glad to finally understand why a "unique, complex" scent is usually higher. I am only selling scents that work out good, from here and there, in the 8oz jj for $5 or $6, so basically just paying for more testing! I am never satisfied with wicks, I have a zillion different sizes. cd's give me good enough burns( in gb464), but I search for that "perfect" burn always! lol. As I continue to gain more knowledge and experience maybe I can branch out into testing the more expensive, unique, complex scents! THANKS AGAIN FOR THE SUGGESTIONS
  11. LeahRB, do you think that Blueberry Muffin from Aroma is more concentrated than average? For example, do you still use the 1oz per lb ? ( I actually use 1.25oz per lb with most oils)
  12. Thanks all ya. I use alot of stuff from Alabaster, that Mullled Cider is one of my bestsellers come fall/winter and right now I am selling lots of their Blackberry Pie. I just wanted to try oils from different places, but the pricing confuses me. I'm not smart enough to tell from the online order area what the difference is in the oils from company to company. I once paid $20 a bottle for some oils thinking they must be better than the $13 oils at ****(which were decent), but they were horrible in my soy. I never did get a halfway decent scent throw. So I learned that more expensive doesn't always mean better quality. .........but then sometimes it does.........I just don't know how to detemine when other than actually testing it and thats not always cost effective
  13. Ya, i am so confused. I was wanting to try a new Blueberry Cobbler or something similiar. The last one I had was from Bittercreek , but that is now to far to ship. (I am in GA). So I thought I would get it from Bluegrass, then I realized if I got it from Berts or CandleScience, it would be around $15 cheaper.!(for 4 -1lb bottles). The shipping is roughly the same, but the price per lb is cheaper. Then I looked@ Aroma and theirs cost even more, but said that the oils were more concentrated...therefore more oil in the long run. These are all companies with great reputations and I'm confused on how different the pricing is! Has anyone tried these? Can you suggest something for me? If you have an opinion you don't want to post here, please leave me a message. I can't afford to try one from each place.. .
  14. okay, I've kept burning and testing (I think I been alternating 7 or 8 scents).3 and 4 hrs at a time. I actually have one scent that I was thrilled with using the cd-10. Wild Honeysuckle had a perfect melt pool, no soot, no residue and great scent throw. Thats the only one that was "perfect"! All the rest I found something to complain about. The Cinnamon, never would reach a full melt pool and kept drowning out, so I"m gonna stay with the cd-12 on that one. The others are somewhere in the middle, better melt pool, but less scent throw. The chocolate and apple pie did well enough that I an going to officially change them to a cd-10, but the others......... Sigh, i don't know what to choose. I've noticed that when you add more fo(like going from 1.25 to 1.5, the candle seems to burn quicker, the flame seems more hungry. and sometimes it seems to smother the wick to death. So I'm a little uneasy about adding more fo. My friends and family are happy with the cd-12's performance, but that melt pool bugs me!:sad2:Okay, i'm gonna quit talking about this now.................................thanks everyone for the inputs
  15. rofl! believe it or not after two years, i have never spilt any on me, but I'm not lookin to learn how it feels! thanks for the tips
  16. okay, was right i dont have any cd-8's, but i did the cd-10's. I poured about six or eight of my scents that are good using a cd-10. i have been burning them at various times and i do not have a full melt pool yet, but thats okay cause i know it gets hotter from the halfway point down. So I'm thinking if the cd-12 was givng me a 1/2" melt pool during the last half of the jar, that the cd-10 is hopefully going to give me 1/4" during the last half of the jar. i would be so happy with this if so........... HOWEVER back to my original point...............my scent throw is still good, but it is not as good as with the cd-12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT understand this!!!! I AM PULLING OUT MY HAIR! Okay one more time.....in your opinion(you all being "experts" compared to me) what should I concentrate on? the scent throw or the burn time? I just feel in my gut its not good enough if that melt pool is 1/2" at ANY point. I use to never think about this, i only cared that my scent throw was good or not. Now i can't get it off my mind that I want to change this.
  17. Darn! the handle did rip completely off of one of them! and I stopped the leaking around the handle of the other one, but there is still some leaking somewhere! Its so slight that no dribble comes out, but it oozes enough that the pan is greasy and leaves residue where ever I set it. I think I am going to coat the whole bottom on the outside with the tape! I probably should just chunk them
  18. I always wick according to what smells the best , but I just can't be satisfied with that melt pool. i hope I am not obsessed! According to all of you, I still feel like my candle must be slightly overwicked. It reaches a full melt pool on the second burn and by halfway down the jar the melt pool is 1/2". I'm gonna keep working on getting it down another wick size. There's gotta be a way I can get it down another size and it still smell just as good. I am okay with my candles the way they are , i just want it to be even better! lol.......does it ever end?
  19. okay after four days of fiddlin with stuff, i think I settled on an artfire page. Afte hours of trying to upload stuff and asking for help, i finally have a link to offer my friends for contact info online! ( I have yet to list anything or figure out how to list my scents, which is the whole point, but I'm getting there!..) Thanks for the info! I created a facebook account, and started a business page, but I can't figure out how to get back to it...!:laugh2:I think i should have just done a personal page, cause i'm not really a official "business", so i gotta figure out how to delete that and start over. I may go back to that for "fun" after I get all the artfire stuff settled. anyway here is my link to my eventual artfire page........www.honeysucklefields.artire.com
  20. well $8-$10 is stll a good price, i can't get them for that at my supplier. I did what ya said and found they were leaking around the handles. So I put this sealer adhesive stuff, for bonding metal and plastic, around them. Well see if that works. Thanks for the tips! You would laugh if you saw how buggered up these pots are but I love them...lol
  21. I tried some more testing early this morning. The home sweet home with a cd-10 and a pumpkin spice with a cd-12. After 4 hours the melt pool in the pumpkin spice was less than 1/2" and the scent throw was good. The cd-10 had drowned out in the home sweet home. I am relighting it to see if it will stay lit this time. I had previously tested this scent with a cd-12 and the throw was great, but the melt pool was a full 1/2" before the jar was half way thru. They always burn hotter towards the bottom, so I thought this wick is gonna be to big. Gosh I cant imagine using a cd-8. im not even sure if I own one, i"ll go look The thing i don't understand about wicks, is if one is too large it will "burn off" some of the scent? if one is too small, there is not enough heat to "release" scent? Are these sayings true? I generally look for a wick that gives me a melt pool not over 1/2" (sometimes they do towards the bottom if you leave them burning all day, anyway). I would love to leave one wicked where it never gets over 1/4" melt pool (that candle would have the best burn time) but some of my scents just dont smell as good when I have them wicked that way. And I don't understand why... it should be perfect.....
  22. I am back to trying the 464 again. I use 1.25 or 1.3oz per lb, 8oz round jelly jar. Most of all my scents i use a cd-12. This works okay, until I get past the half way mark, then the melt pool gets deeper than 1/2". When I use a cd-10, the melt pool is better but the hot throw SEEMS weaker. Is that possible or am I dreaming? Can you get a wick too small(heat wise) even if the meltpool is perfect or am i just not getting it? I saw where someone was using the same everything as me with a cd-8! wow I must be doing something wrong? or can it be the oils I am using? but I use oils from a wide variety of places and the cd-12 seems to have the best scent throw with most of them...? I've hear so much about the cdn's I am ready to try them.....where is the best place I can get them within reason of me(north Ga)?
  23. a blog? wow that SOUNDS even more complicated! lol! maybe its not?
  24. Garsh, I must be old or stupid! I can't get anywhere at all! I created a facebook account, but when i started a page i got lost.(personal, business, group or fan page?) I don't know what I did! Then I couldn't find it. So I went to artfire and that seemed simpler, so I created an account again and now I am stuck on the banner! IT says I need to upload a banner, so I uploaded a pic and it rejected it. So, ....Grama......Please tell me how to create a banner that I can upload! I sent you an email with the same question......
  25. Thanks for the tips! I actually have some of that metal duct tape stuff. Where in the world can I find metal pour pots for $4 ea! I think I paid $6 or 8 each for these two, used! They were $20 new at a candle supply site
