  1. yeah and I did some of it in melts for Christmas and now I have a customer that has called back wanting another batch of it. I have 8oz left so I guess I can do several more batches in melts. Then I'll have to start looking for another melon somewhere........ What surprised me out it how strong it was in a candle.....so unusual for a melon.....wonder if that fig is what bumped it up there? know of any other strong melons?
  2. OOB THOUGHTS: Baked Apple Pie (had a reeeeaaaallllyy good one from Bluegrass, gonna be shocked if this is just as good) I was surprised at how good this smelled.....if it burns good, I may consider this a keeper. Love Spell Type (already know this is a good one) I have the perfume from VS on my shelf and this still smells just like it! I like how the lotion smells a little sweeter than the perfume and was wondering if I could add something to nudge this more towards the lotion? hmm Pink Sugar (this is new for me, never tried it from any where) Never smelled this from anywhere so nothing to compare to.......wouldnt be my first choice in a scent, just a tad to perfumey for me, but I can see why people like it........if it doesnt make a strong candle, hopefully a good melt Strawberry Cheese Cake (this is replacing my strawberry jam from bcn, or will it?) THis for sure will not replace my strawberry jam! Not the strong strawberry FRUITY smell I was looking for. More sweet with a strawberry flavor, not like a real fruit smell. Come to think, it smells a lot like the strawberry daiquiri I tried from bittercreek back in 2007. This will work for Valentines and spring combinations, but I still wanna look for another strawberry jam to keep in my regular line. Wonder what TCS's Strawberry Fields smells like? Fresh Linen (will be comparing this to the one from alabaster) hmm, this is a pleasant smell but not as satisfying as the one from alabaster. It has a slightly more perfume smell, while the one from Alabaster has a slightly more "clean" smell.....I might add a little lime, see what happens..... Warm vanilla Sugar (tve never had a vanilla that i did good with so I am gonna be using this for mixing) Oh this is an awesome smell! It is so close to the Bath & Body works shower gel that I use! IF this burns strong for me, for sure a keeper! I can just imagine all the things you can mix it with too! great! Spiced Cranberry (umm, hoping i can come up with something to replace my blackberry pie?) no mistaking this just any old "berry" smell, its a real cranberry smell....its nice, might work with it later, would make a good fall/ holiday scent. Will probably have to reorder the Blackberry Pie from Alabaster, along with the fresh linen... Coconut Tango ( needed something with coconut for mixing) This is gonna work great for what I needed! It has a mostly toasted coconut scent. I was expecting a tropical scent, which usually smells better but usually burns weak. So toasted coconut is a "harsher" scent which usually comes across stronger, so I'm happy. Lemon Cheese Cake ( had a lemon cake from bcn, then a lemon cake from KY....both were great...see how this goes) Not even close to what I was looking for. I am looking for a strong lemon scented fo. This is a sweet cheesecake smell more than anything to me, so i think I could use this for when i need that "sweet" smell when mixing fo's. hmm, I was wanting a little more "sweetness' in my lovespell............ Hot Apple Cider ( I have a really popular muller cider from alabaster.....wonder how this compares?) Oh this is really good, really close to the one I've been using from Alabaster.... Will start testing and post further results........
  3. Well my deciding factor for my next order was because I needed some lovespell for valentines day......and Tennessee has my favorite lovespell so here is what I ordered to try from Tennessee: Hot Baked Apple Pie (had a reeeeaaaallllyy good one from Bluegrass, gonna be shocked if this is just as good) Love Spell Type (already know this is a good one) Pink Sugar (this is new for me, never tried it from any where) Strawberry Cheese Cake (this is replacing my strawberry jam from bcn, or will it?) Fresh Linen (will be comparing this to the one from alabaster) Warm Vanilla Sugar (tve never had a vanilla that i did good with so I am gonna be using this for mixing) Spiced Cranberry (umm, hoping i can come up with something to replace my blackberry pie?) Coconut Tango ( needed something with coconut for mixing) Lemon Cheese Cake ( had a lemon cake from bcn, then a lemon cake from KY....both were great...see how this goes) Hot Apple Cider ( I have a really popular muller cider from alabaster.....wonder how this compares?) Will post my results when I get the oils in........
  4. im gonna start a new thread and focus on testing these scents............
  5. yes, the one from Bluegrass IS called Homemade Apple Pie and it does really good for me! I add 1 oz per lb of wax and then a little cinnamon, maybe .15 oz ppd. Let it cure for atleast 5 days, 2 weeks is best. wow a great smell for me..........I use cd 10 wick in 8 oz jj. Hope that helps..............I know the feeling, I just got an AWESOME smelling fo from Natures Garden called Bermuda Triangle............I cant get it to work in my candles or my melts.......it keeps coming out very weak.......it smells so great, I dont understand whats wrong:(
  6. Im really slow about testing all my new bottles of oils from a supplier and wouldnt you know it that I just tested a STRONG melon (melons are usually soft scents in my candles:464 wax)....and it turns out to be the fig & melon from Berts...........and they outta business now!....................... double phooey.......phooey the mint chocolate is really good as well.....but then Ive never tested a bad chocolate so Im not gonna cry over this one.........but I will cry over the fig & melon:(
  7. didnt find anything on their website to try to replace my orange cake......but i got so many bakery scents im gonna try to get along without it for a while...................we will see if people complain.................if they do then, im justified for trying the one from Bluegrass............(along with a few other bottles:yay:)
  8. Well my deciding factor for my next order was because I needed some lovespell for valentines day......and Tennessee has my favorite lovespell so here is what I ordered to try from Tennessee: Hot Baked Apple Pie (had a reeeeaaaallllyy good one from Bluegrass, gonna be shocked if this is just as good) Love Spell Type (already know this is a good one) Pink Sugar (this is new for me, never tried it from any where) Strawberry Cheese Cake (this is replacing my strawberry jam from bcn, or will it?) 9. well, surprise, surprise, Ive sold all the bayberry and have more orders........Im calling it bobs bayberry since its not a true bayberry.
  10. yes i just got in several pounds of fo from NG but for some reason , they are not all working that great for me............Which I find really weird considering what good reviews they have for being good in 464. I must be having a phooey moment........
  11. oh well I guess that wont work then cause blackberry pie is for sure a bakery one............
  12. the bayberry lover bought all the "bayberry " melts! he said he liked them! He didnt say it was a true bayberry but it was enought that it satisfied him. everyone is still saying they really like the victorian christmas one..............This may be a keeper for me!
  13. I was wondering if I could get several of those scents from Peaks........? For some reason Ive not tried many oils from peaks I was hoping to narrow it down to 2 suppliers, but that must be unrealistic. I get out of heart with trying so many oils and usually only 1 outta 4 or 5 is something i want to try again. But then I dont want to pay shipping for only 1 bottle so I try several more with my next order.........and so on and so on.....and then on top of all that sometimes they go out of business! lol! I had just tried several oils from KY and Berts...............Well maybe 4 suppliers would be more realistic? Ive got oils from like 10 suppliers right now but it drives me nuts.....
  14. well here is what I did....I was totally bummed out when I found out bayberry was its own smell......But I had told them I would try to come up with something....so I mixed .40 of o christmas tree, .20 of blackberry pie and .15 of cinnamon, so then I had .75 fo and I added 10oz of wax to it. Surprisingly, the first person that smelled of it thought it was bayberry! Then after a couple of people kept smelling of it, they said they could tell something was "off". They said it really reminded them of bayberry but a little smoother. So I think i added too much blackberry pie. Anyways, the bayberry lover is smelling of it tomorrow so I'm curious as to what he thinks...............Its not a big deal cause they knew I was just playing around with trying to create a smell he liked and its not like I was filling an order or anything. I also did some straight " O christmas tree, some redwood & cedar, & something my mom calls "almost Christmas" which is O christmas tree added to some christmas eve. To me that christmas eve smells like that old fashioned hard candy or ribbon candy. Hopefully between all of them he will like something! p.s. I accidently created a scent while working on that bayberry. I took it to a family gathering tonight. Several people kept asking me what it was, said it smelled great! I was just smelling it for the first times myself so I just blurted out "Victorian Christmas" ! lol! Then I heard people saying they really liked that victorian christmas melt that was on the table! So now Im anxious to try it as a candle. (these were all melts) I mixed o christmas tree with equal amounts of balckberry pie and maples & apple bourbon, then as I was adding it to wax, I added a couple drops of burning hot cinnamon...........ya never know when ya gonna stumble upon a good one! I usually have horrible luck with mixing oils.....hope this one works for me:) It got more comments than any of the other melts I took...........
  15. My friends sister is here visiting and will be leaving soon. She wanted me to mix up a bayberry scent in melts/tarts. Since this is a "now" thing, I dont have time to order any bayberry, so Im trying to work with what i have. The problem is I dont even know what bayberry smells like! From scent descriptions, it sounds like maybe I could mix my pine and blackberry pie scents, add a little cinnamon? She knows I dont have a actual bayberry scent and that Im trying to "create" one for her.............Can you describe it to me?
  16. I use 464 wax. I am low on several favorites, so I decided to stock up for the holidays. Since Bluegrass and TN have been the stongest oils in my wax (KY was good too), I decided to just pick one or the other and restock the scents. save on shipping. To my surprise I discovered i couldnt get ALL the scents from just BLuegrass OR Tn. Then I realized neither place carried certain scents I needed. Here is a list of the current scents I am using that have worked good for me. Any suggestions on places that has GOOD fo in these scents?. I was trying to save on shipping and only order from 1 or 2 places. Homemade Apple Pie- Bluegrass (love this one, scared to change) Blackberry Pie- Alabaster bestseller (bluegrass nor tn have this, what does blackberry sage smell like compared to this?) Orange Chiffon Cake- KY (is the orange cake at BLuegrass just as good?) Fresh Linen- Alabaster best seller (good smell and strong in my 464 wax, is the linens at Bluegrass or TN similiar?) Lovespell- TN (got to be the best one Ive ever smelled ) Strawberry Jam- Bittercreek (bluegrass nor TN have this, know anyone that has something similiar?) Hot fudge brownie- Alabaster (bluegrass has one, is it good?) Frangilico Streusel?- Alabaster (just need something that smells like cookies)(TN or Bluegrass got anything similiar?
  17. well thats a new one for me! cool! sounds so much simpler than what I do!
  18. i really like brown sugar & fig, maybe you could mix a sweet cakey scent with the fig......... Also, Im really curious..........what do you mean by using the Qtips? i always actually mix the oils with wax to try something new...................So you just dip Qtips into the scents and then hold them together and sniff? And this gives you a combined smell?
  19. I noticed that they have 3 grades of fo. The third grade is twice as much in price as the first. So does this mean that the SOS grade is diluted with something to make it cheaper? If so, wouldnt I want to buy the more expensive, yet more "pure" XTREME grade? meaning, if I bought the sos grade fo, Im paying to ship "mixing oils" to myself? Am I understanding this correctly? The higher priced, more concentrated fo is gonna take less fo per lb than the sos grade? Therefore I could make more jars of candles with the concentrated 16oz bottle, than I could with the "diluted" 16oz bottle? If comparing the price, i would need to be able to make twice as many candles from that 16oz bottle? Also, what is the pros and cons to selling 3 grades of fo?
  20. I felt like it lessened the burn time by using 2 wicks in the 16oz apoth. But i didnt test them long enough nor write down exact burn hrs because i ended up dropping the bigger jars and focusing on the 8oz jj. But Im pretty sure it was less burn time with 2 wicks................umm, I think..............................lol.........but I never got those jars wicked perfectly so not sure if my tests r even relevant to your question...........
  21. I dont know about the broken indicator lights cause not all of the ones I ordered came with indicator lights, some were bulbs..... I haven't noticed any broken indicator lights yet.............but Ive not tried all of them yet...........
  22. Just picked up another order from Aztec for wax and jars.........I have ordered here before, but took the time to look around this time and was really pleased by what i saw. EVerything was neat and organized and clean. My orders are correct and quickly loaded. Prices are reasonable.....I think I will start using them most of the time for my wax and jars.......
  23. well I got my shipment in......(minimum order of $100 plus shipping (which is horrid from the west coast to the east coast!) or $500 order and you get free shipping (for now anyway)).......anyway, the 2nd quality burners were what I would call minimum imperfections! They are completely satisfactory to me! Tiny scratches or mild imperfections in the glaze, Im totally happy with my choice to try them! !!!!
