  1. Those are some of the most vivid chunks I have seen. What temp. was your overpour wax? BTW, nice job.
  2. Have you tried using a stylus? Put your drawing up against the candle then trace around it's outlines with a stylus (they're used for embossing card) then paint in the grooves left by the stylus. You may find that you get a more professional look that way. Here's a thread where this method was demonstrated: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13846&highlight=stylus
  3. Hi, I stick my moulds in a bowl of (uncooked) rice. Enjoy.
  4. Nice blend - very smooth and subtle. Overall, a very tranquil candle. IMO.
  5. Nice range. I'm a big fan of chunks and layers myself. Especially like the 3rd set - great colours. Glad you finally felt confident enough to post some pics.
  6. Hi Soja, they're aluminium. I tried with a pipe mould but that did weird things to the pillar when contracting. I also have tin but after avidly reading all your posts decided to stick with the aluminium. I'm test burning at the moment and the 30 ply seems to be working out well. What's your preference for the 3" pillars? Mozzie
  7. Fabulous - great job! Is that the feathering wax? Now to pick your brains - do you heat your wax higher than 200 and then cool it to that temp to pour OR simply heat to that temp and then pour? C'mon, tell me all your secrets ... please.
  8. Hi Donita, Great saves - they all look really good.
  9. Wow, Donita - only a thousand. Piece of cake. LOL. Thanks for the clear explanation (but I'm still too scared to try). Mozzie
  10. I would have chosen La de dah (but I have a British background so you can safely ignore anything I have to say in the way of spelling). BTW, it's MOULDS - with a "u"!!!!!!! LOL
  11. That is just too horrible. LOL. Now I'm going to have nightmares and will probably need counselling next time I prime my wicks. I can just hear their little cries, "Choose the 24 ply, you don't really need a 30, please, please .... aaaargh!" Thanks.
  12. Looks good. Your choice of fo is a perfect complement to the finish on this candle. Well done.
  13. Hi Donita, Just to clarify... do you mean to let it "soak" for 4 - 5 seconds and then pull it out OR let it soak for an arbitrary length of time and spend 4 - 5 seconds in "lifting" time? Sorry to be so pedantic but I truly do get confused over these details. :undecided Mozz
  14. Donita, You are crazy! Now, 'canes ... they terrify me. LOL
  15. Thanks for the tip. I've just poured another pillar - same wax, different colour and fo and it doesn't have any effects at all. All I can think of is that the mould and room were both slightly cooler and the wax wasn't heated as high. Hmmmm. Lori, it's 3 x 4. Will let you know how it burns. Thank you everyone for the positive feedback - it's very heart warming.
  16. Looks like a huge success to me. :highfive: The crackle is just a wonderful technique for turning the ordinary into something special. Glad that you've now had this experience.
  17. A, I'm wondering too. I've documented all the usual blurb but this wax has been remelted 3 times during the 'everlasting' saga so hope that's not the cause. I'm thinking that it might be how the mould was heated - originally in the oven on a low setting then zapped with the heat gun before pouring. Sure would love to be able to repeat it. M
  18. Hi all, I've taken a break from trying to create an 'everlasting' candle with palm wax and decided to do straight pillars instead. I know that palm wax is unpredictable but I'd never have expected this result. Scented Lavender. Fingers crossed for the test burn, I'm using 30ply flat braid. Hi, just editing to add that the 30ply flat braid was too small in the end - kept wanting to drown out. I'm about the try the 36ply instead.
  19. Hi Jo, I think you're on to something with the stars and moons - they look great. I'm not so sure about the heart chunk but the scratched heart embed looks good. You have been busy. Mozz
  20. Sharon, beautiful mottle and stunning colour. Love it.
  21. Great crackle and lovely colour. They both look great. Good luck with the sales.
  22. Nice job, Jo, that wax looks really translucent - lovely.
  23. Stephanie, that looks 100% better. However, I'm still finding a tiny bit of conflict between the texture of the candle and the texture of the wall behind it. Not sure if it would be better or not, but I'd try for a little more space around the candle too just to see how it compares. Good luck.
