  1. Taylored Concepts has a Glazed Donut FO, but have no idea how good it is....
  2. Unfortunately, they have BEEN working on their site for quite a while now. I finally made my way to their storefront and purchased some fragrances. After JBN closed, which, I also checked out Southwest Candle Supply recently (wax formulas same as JBN's fyi) I had to find a new supplier! I purchased 4633 from AAA and intend on trying a blend with 444, just haven't gotten around to it. But, did try a few in the old JBN 9900 (soy blend). Since I had not tried thier FO's before, I decided to try some that should be good ol' trusties first. Their Creme Brulee - EXCELLENT! Country Berry Hotcakes and Key Lime Pie, both awesome as well. So, I can't tell ya how they throw in straight soy, but in a blend, I've been very impressed! Would like to make a trip out there again soon, anything in particular you want me to sample for ya?
  3. I am so super excited about this! Their oils seem a little bit higher than they were under JBN. The website is hard to navigate, so guess I'll have to drop by!
  4. I've been hunting around for it today, too, and was wondering.... Is there a difference in quality depending on where you purchase it from? There is quite a price variance depending on the supplier. Got me curious... Anyone have any input?
  5. It was my understanding they had moved to Canton. They were formally in Mesquite.
  6. Sorry about the above post. Think it was a semi-breakdown :tiptoe:.
  7. I've been making candles for two years now. Even though I feel pretty confident with my end result from all of my testing, and the response I get from my friends and family is great (they think I'm nuts) I start going through this frantic list of "what ifs". It also doesn't help that I am an indicisive, perfectionist person. Bottom line is... I'm afraid of failure. There's just this very much extra added pressure when it comes to attaching your name to a product that you want people to like and come back for more. Sometimes it's hard, because others outside of this craft do not have an understanding. In this current state of the economy, it's difficult to cater to the varying markets (sophisticated vs. prim/country) when it comes to style. Soy/not to soy. Moderate fragrance options vs. 100... the list goes on and on. Cost efficient is a HUGE factor for me. Not to mention I would like to eventually incorporate my B&B at some point... I think that is where I find most of my dilemma, trying to determine which market to appeal to. I live in a very diverse suburban area of Dallas. Very much a combination of "sophistication meets rural" kinda place. I try not to go into the idea with expectations that might be unrealistic, but whether I sell 1 candle or 1,000... I just want to make a quality product that I can feel 100% good about. If anyone else has, or still does, battle any of these issues, I would really appreciate hearing how you all deal/have dealt with it. Thanks!
  8. Hmmm... still lists their former physical address. I'm confused... Would very much do a happy dance if they decided to move back already!!
  9. Judy, thanks for that link! I found a place that might be a ten minute drive! Depending on the weather conditions tomorrow, that just might be doable. Thank You!
  10. I did check by walmart and they seem to be doing away with most of their canning stuff (seasonal). They didn't have any in stock now. Was told to try a smaller chain grocery store that keeps canning supplies year round. Maybe the roads won't be too bad later in the day and I can get out and look more.
  11. Maybe it's just thick foam? Not necessarily carpet padding, but definitely could be. Hard to tell. Sides have a brownish golden color, but there are white spots showing on the surface.... What does the outer surface feel like. Looks kinda rough like carpet, but then when you turn and showed a side view, looked different... Interesting...
  12. Very nice! I always admire your candles. The colors, labeling, appearance... very classy and clean. I'd love to burn one of those babies some day!
  13. For those of you that make a parasoy blend using one of these waxes, why did you choose one over the other? Any input would be well appreciated!
  14. I'm a little confused on the different findings I have found on this topic. Absorbic Acid/ Citric Acid - same thing? Since it's Sunday and my local supplier is closed, I'd like to find it somewhere else.Grocery store, Hardware Store, etc? We have a winter storm brewing, which makes for a perfect mad scientist day!
  15. Oh wow, Ok. After posting that last comment tried to go to their site and it's gone?? I had just checked it last week and it was up and running. Wonder what's going on....
  16. Alicia, As far as I know they are still in business, but moved their location to Canton, Tx, which, is a bummer for me. They were 10 minutes up the highway on a convenient path. Now they're about 40 minutes up the highway, opposite direction, on a not-so-convenient path . I really like working with the 9900. I do agree that the cold throw is lacking, but the hot throw with most scents is very good. I had tried ECO's and CDNs before, and never could get those to burn well without smoke and soot. My best results have been zincs. Definitely when using the Crisa tumbler. I am going to attempt to make my own blend using the J223 now, and see how that goes... back to testing! Ughhhhh
  17. They always have pretty good monthly sales on several different scents by the pound, but I have just been skeptical to purchase them. Thank you for the suggestions, I will have to check out a few!
  18. I have used the JBN 9900, and although I'm not very impressed with the cold throw with some scents, others do well, mostly richer bakery scents, spicey, etc. The hot throw on most scents is great. I don't really have any tips for you, as I really don't do anything special. I generally use 1.25 oz per pound FO, and seem to get good results.
  19. Since JBN has changed locations, Taylored would be the next closest supplier to me. Does anyone use any of their fragrance oils? I never see much on them on the board. Any recommendations?
  20. That's what I thought Susan, they look skewered through the wick. How easy would that be?!
