  1. I was not able to make a trip over there this week, but I definitely will be on Tuesday. I will be sure and mention the issues on the forum and see what they say...
  2. I actually wrap around a popsicle stick then secure with a clothespin. I just couldn't get them to stay totally taut with the clothespin alone BUT you might have to be smarter than the equipment you're working with... :embarasse
  3. When I started making candles, I started out with soy, C3 to be exact. While soy has some great properties, man oh man was it a pain. I had also tried mixing soy and paraffin at different percentages, just to give myself more headaches, I guess. Well, a couple of months ago I went ahead a poured a couple testers with the straight paraffin blend and O M G! First of all, the wicking was SO much easier. The scent throw -- fantastic! Almost every single FO I've tried has had a stellar throw. I'd still like to do a limited line of soy, but man, paraffin has won me over!
  4. Now I haven't gotten the Gingerbread or PP yet, but the Banana Nut Bread still smells awesome and as strong as ever when poured!
  5. I'm a frequent user of JBN as they are local to me. I generally call when I have a question, but have emailed once and received a response that same afternoon. They are usually very helpful and friendly. I haven't purchased any BRV in a while, I'll have to smell for myself this week when I go in. Try giving them a call...
  6. Have any of you incorporated bamboo powder into any of your scrub products? If so, how do you like it? Thanks!
  7. I've been using the crisa tumblers and I really like the look of the finished product. It just seems to have a sophisticated look. Now, if I could just figure out how to go about labeling them without losing that appeal...
  8. I am using C3, 8oz jj, eco 10, and FO at .06. When I let the candle burn for 6 hours or so, I start to get a high flame. Isn't this normal?? At times, or so it seems to me, depending on what fragrance oil I use, there can be different levels of sooting left as well. I've used lower sized wicks, but they seem to tunnel and fizzle out. I've had this happen while burning 'big named" candles for long consecutive burns as well. I'm just kinda confused...
  9. So for those of you that have attempted this recipe, do you prefer the soy or b/w?
  10. In all fairness to some other posts, I haven't found a joint cream yet that is a "cure all". How long would a recipe like this last, I am ignorant to MSM powder all together.... :embarasse
  11. At one point I found an awesome site that had several different recipes/formulas for all sorts of uses of emu oil varying from eczema creams to joint creams... Duh me, must not have bookmarked it and can't find it anywhere! grrrrrrrrr
  12. Teen Dream Skin Care line ( for the more professional sounding) Totally Awesome Dude Skin Care Line for Teens (for a more "teen appeal) -- dude could always be omitted hehehe
  13. During a couple of searches I've come to the conclusion that castor oil and emu oil are both very beneficial to extremely dry skin. What are some other things that aid in this as well? I'd love to make a lotion that would be good for children with dry skin/eczema. I'm really trying to research, and had found an awesome site at one point... but can't find it any longer... should've bookmarked that sucker!
  14. I'm so glad I haven't come across this batch! I'm not as panicky anymore. Lone Star still has it available, and luckily, my husband works right up the road from them, so that's awesome! I plan on calling JBN Tuesday to see what they think the future holds. Since Lone Star also carries the IGI waxes, I figure I could at least play around a little with one or two... just in case...
  15. So I thought I'd get a quote for product liability insurance through State Farm since we already use them. I received a quote back for 500,000 coverage at 900 and something a year. That seems kind of high to me, but it may not be. Input?
  16. I am a little panicky. It's been a while since I've needed to re-up on wax, so I didn't know JBN was temp out of stock. I've never used another type of soy, so I'll be at a total loss, won't know where to start. Not to mention they're local to me, so it was so nice to just go pick it up. Y'all don't yell at me when I start asking advice on other waxes. :embarasse
  17. Thanks everyone. I just wasn't sure how well the C3 would work with layers. I'll be sure and let the layers set for a bit before pouring the next. Lovely candle Stella!
  18. Do any of you make layered container candles using C3? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
  19. OK, thanks. I figured that's probably what was happening seeing as how I am pretty sure everything else is right on. Just wanted confirmation.
  20. What would cause this? This is my first batch made from 70% C3 and 30% paraffin, 6% FO, no dye. I'm using a tealight burner...
  21. Grand Prairie is right up the road from me too, and I have been wondering about the GL waxes. Thanks for letting us know your results! I may just have to sample some myself now...
  22. I didn't think that made sense This is from JBN. I've never dealt with palm before, only the soy container, so just wasn't sure. Thanks!
  23. Ok, my supplier is closed today, or I would call them and ask. Their instructions on the repour of their palm wax for votives is to pour at 170, which is about 10-20 degrees cooler than the initial pour. It just threw me off reading that, as you do your second pour with container candles at a higher temp the second go round. I understand palm is a totally different thing than the soy container wax. Just wanted to make sure this sounds right? Thanks!
  24. I think those all turned out lovely Arlene! Thanks for showing the pics. I just hadn't seen much mention of it on the board, and was wondering if many had tried it since I know many people order other products from there. Thanks again for the images Arlene!
  25. Just wondering if anyone has tried the JW 1581 palm wax from JBN? I'd like to start trying some votives and pillars now. Also, while I have you here, I've also thought about trying out some palm container wax from Taylored Concepts, anyone tried that? They are both local to me, so I don't have to worry about shipping costs, just wanted to get an idea of how they've worked for others before I made the purchase. Thanks!
